Well, maybe 'hated' is a bit strong.

Inspired by the thread about presents that your other half rejected. (Thanks for the inspiration)

My DP got me the same necklace that he had gifted to his mum for her birthday. Think my face said it all.

As I have said on several of the Christmas threads....
This is why we do wish lists in my family 🤣

Picklewicklepickle · 12/11/2022 18:51

A glass candle holder with some kind of metal design around it that looks like barbed wire?! It’s really sharp too so will stab you if you’re not careful. I still don’t get it.

He got me a seed advent calendar last year which was really thoughtful as I got into gardening in lockdown but it’s actually a lot of work to grow things from seed, we only have one windowsill in the whole
house and no greenhouse/cold frame, plus really limited bed space (and limited time for me to garden!). Also they’re all annuals and I only really like perennials. Never mind, can’t fault the intention!

For my 30th birthday an ex boyfriend bought me 2 baking trays and a set of measuring spoons.
Confused

30 weeks pregnant and struggling to carry the hoover up and down stairs so rather than pull his finger out of his arse and do some hoovering he bought me a light weight hoover. I wish I could say I’ve left him but I’m stuck with the prick and dreading Christmas with him.

Soproudoflionesses · 12/11/2022 19:15

A mobile phone top up voucher cos l like vouchers and l like talking. Cock is am ex now!

ClaudeMyWinkleman · 12/11/2022 19:18

Nail files and hand cream (I already had loads) because he wanted to meet the discount on his aftershave

Another year due to moving house and short of money we agreed only little presents. I got a box fruity tea leaves, the ones I specifically said I didn't want. A week later he then bought himself the new xbox!

weathervane1 · 12/11/2022 19:21

I recall my dad buying my mum a new ironing board cover!

bumblebeemumma · 12/11/2022 19:23

My partner doesn't do too badly on the gift itself but he finds it impossible to keep it a secret. I already know what he's got me for Christmas this year. Great gift, just takes any excitement and magic out of it when you're unwrapping it on Christmas Day. He's the same with birthdays. He organised a 'surprise' trip for my 40th birthday this year, but used my email address for the hotel and concert confirmation emails so the surprise lasted about 3 minutes between him telling me he'd just booked a surprise trip and me checking my emails. Generous guy but I would rather have a small, inexpensive gift that I have no clue about so it feels special.

My mum on the other hand is dreadful and doesn't seem to know me at all. When I had my first baby, who was 4mths old on her first Christmas, my mum bought ME some tuppaware weaning pots, bowls, bibs and baby cutlery. Just what I always wanted!

This last Christmas my partner got a Mens 'Dove' gift box from my mum. A week or so later when we went to open the box he found it was actually full of a mix of women's toiletries that it turned out she had received as gifts the previous year and shoved in the box and forgotten about all year, found it among the xmas decs in the loft and 're-gifted' it Confused

My ex husband bought me an Elton John cd on Christmas Eve one year in his usual annual dash to Tesco 🙄. I didn’t even have a CD player! I don’t like Elton John! We still laugh about it now

WellThatsNice · 12/11/2022 19:36

A watch.

We’d recently had a conversation about how I don’t wear watches, don’t like them, I had a Fitbit and two watches I already didn’t wear, and for some unfathomable reason he got me the nastiest watch with a shiny white patent leather strap for my next birthday. 🤯

He’s also bought me some awful glass perfume bottles (to decant perfume into- don’t even know where to start with that!) a slanket, a wooden pear, a really old lady style scarf- basically he means well but I think he thinks I’m 80. 🤣

A pair of goats. Thanks. As if I haven't enough animals to look after. We live on a farm by the way.

JumpingFrogs · 12/11/2022 19:44

An orange coat. I have never worn orange, looks dreadful on me, I wear a lot of blue. He said he'd considered buying the other colour (blue) but decided to get but me the orange one as he'd never seen me wear anything orange and thought it would make a nice change.
For several years after we got together he bought me a succession of sporty gifts - exoensive trainers, rugby shirts, cycling shorts. I am the least sporty person in the world but his ex was very sporty, so I think he'd just got into the habit of buying sporty gifts, which I'm sure she had appreciated much more than I did.
We no longer buy gifts for each other!

A vase. I love flowers, I have many vases. But the one he got me was not to my taste at all. I used it for a while, now it sits under the sink. I don't think my dh notices.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 12/11/2022 20:16

😂. My husband got me the same necklace that I had got for his mother. Funnily enough give never worn it.

user1485291191 · 12/11/2022 20:20

Husband asked today if I wanted an electronic car Jack to make it easier if I need to change a tyre on the car ( I can do this) but I pointed out that I pay the RAC to come out and at 60 this month I do not intend changing any more

CraneBoysMysteries · 12/11/2022 20:24

Running shoes, running leggings, sports bra and couch to 10k book

Reader I am not, not have I ever been interested in running.

I buy my own gifts now....

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/11/2022 20:31

@CraneBoysMysteries all I ever want is running stuff. DH is sick of buying it. Wanna do present swap?

CraneBoysMysteries · 12/11/2022 20:43

@strawberrysea Ohhh you probably would have loved them as were good quality and pricey I think. But for a slightly plump gym avoider I was not best pleased!!

CraneBoysMysteries · 12/11/2022 20:44

Sorry @strawberrysea meant to tag @Chesneyhawkes1
Damn these plump fingers!!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/11/2022 20:46

@CraneBoysMysteries bet I'd have loved them. I've been told not to ask for any trainers this year 😫😂

ChristmasCwtch · 12/11/2022 20:47

I was really unimpressed the year DH put an a Clinique spf tinted moisturiser in my stocking. I think the counter lady must have sold it as an amazing new thing!! To be fair, it is a great product and it’s a constant in my make up bag since 😂
