Have we had the "what are giving buying your husband/partner" thread yet?

Every year I devour the thread and there's always something that sparks an idea I'd never have thought of. I'm struggling this year and I've gone as far back on the old threads as the iPod days 😁

I like the whole replace something they love that's worn out, but I also like to get something unusual but that won't end up collecting dust. Previous winners have been a Thermagun mini (if he exercises) and a cheap projector. We have a small living room and therefore a small TV, but as a treat we set up the projector. It projects directly onto the (grey) wall and the picture is great. It's tiny though so doesn't take up precious space in the drawer.

I'd love to hear your non-pants and socks ideas and previous hits. 🍋✨️

His favourite gift last year was a make your own camera kit (suprise) and lambs spiced rum that he asked for 😄

This year he's asked for a camera bag and I've got him a travel lense travel cup that I'm hoping he'll love 🤞

Snoooozzze · 08/11/2022 21:56

I love these threads too 😁

DH has asked for a new pair of black Yukon Vista crocs (he has the brown ones already- I’m not a croc lover but he adores them)

I usually get him a combo of new PJs, mount gay rum, Fitbit watch straps and wine gums as stocking fillers as well

JennyForeigner · 08/11/2022 22:06

I'm sorry, I have nothing to add here as my OH is impossible to buy for, but a projector is a genius idea! We are in the middle of building a big garden room and being able to go and watch a movie on a big 'screen' would make him very happy.

I hadn't realised how good the pictures are on them now so thanks for that.

ErinAndTonic · 08/11/2022 22:18

New pants because I don't think he owns a pair sans holes. Some nice T-shirts and new socks as well.

Dior Sauvage, vegetable seeds for the garden, booze and Jack Whitehall tickets so far...

The stuff he has put on his wishlist is utter rubbish though so hoping I'll get some more ideas!

Ididanamechange · 08/11/2022 22:21

I've bought him a back scratcher so far. Other gifts he's liked over the years are comedy gig tickets for the 2 of us, a good quality winter coat, a venus fly trap plant, a new and very practical wallet, wireless headphones and a photo keyring of the kids.

vinoandbrie · 08/11/2022 22:33

Heated gloves. I need to look into which brand are good.

Sussexlass84 · 08/11/2022 22:58

I love the idea of the projector OP! Could you link the one you got? Thank you!

Husband wants contributions to a Barbour jacket from me / grandparents so that's an easy one this year. It'll be a big treat for him and one nice thing that he couldn't usually afford.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 08/11/2022 23:36

I've got so many ideas over the years from these threads. Some more successful than others! This year I'm getting DH...
Spicery Legend box - this was a big hit last year so getting him another different one this year.
Waterproof socks - for mountain biking
Whisky - staple every year!
That's it because we're also buying each other a joint present for the home.

Previous hits have been a belt made from recycled inner tubes, a Christmas jumper (!! Wasn't expecting him to like it so much but he really wanted something he could pull out every year when required!), books, leather gloves and the old 'upgrade of everyday items' thing. He's quite a hobby person and often wants things related so often ends up getting something himself which I wrap.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 08/11/2022 23:38

Oh and a footstool that looks like an elephant was loved!

Puddywoodycat · 09/11/2022 07:00

Mine WFH so I got thick cosy sock's, a shackette, and Silverstone musuem ticket's.
Will add some favourite foods as well he is done.

Some Japanese knives and a stocking so far he has beer pasta and biltong

Nadal · 09/11/2022 11:02

Tickets for Goodwood festival of speed I think

KeepingKeepingOn · 09/11/2022 15:00

I usually upgrade his wardrobe with a few nice pieces - works for both of us 😄

so this year:
new waterproof boots for walking the dog
new Charles Tyrwhitt sweaters

plus a Nespresso machine because he likes poncing about with coffees, tickets to Ryan Adam concert and a Lego model of London Bridge, which will go in toddler’s Paddington themed nursery when done.

hits of previous years included a foldable fire pit, with a homemade hamper of s’mores ingredients - he loved that - Spicery subscription, subscription to Private Eye, and jigsaw of our city (now proudly framed and hung up). In stocking, hits were iPad stylus, usb fire lighter, ready mixed Old-Fashioned, sample sizes of coffee syrups and an apron to collect beard during shaving!

CSR721 · 09/11/2022 19:22

I need this thread so badly I have no idea what to get DH this year!!!

Sidking · 09/11/2022 19:34

Mines getting an Xbox, his died 2 years ago and we haven't been able to afford to replace it until now, and a game (luckily we still have all his old ones). He's also getting new slippers, sunglasses and a jumper. We don't usually buy anything for each other though, last year was the first year we've got each other gifts since having our eldest 9 years ago. It's nice to be able to :)

IDontDrinkTea · 09/11/2022 19:39

Hes getting a Velvetiser. He wants a make your own cheese kit.
if there are any decent Black Friday offers I might replace his kindle which is on its last legs

PuttingDownRoots · 09/11/2022 19:42

Warhammer stuff
Books on Military history
Hop seeds
Not sure what else

outcrops · 09/11/2022 19:43

I’m getting DP a mud larking permit for the Thames. A bit niche!

MuddlingThroughLife · 09/11/2022 20:02

I've got DH:

Belinda Carlisle tickets
Slippers
Flat cap
Dark chocolate batons from Hotel Chocolat

Might also get some trainers.

Stompythedinosaur · 10/11/2022 08:26

Dp has a Christmas birthday, so I will decide my gifts between that and Christmas. Do far I've got:

Ember mug
Tickets to The Ocean at the End of the Lane
A board game called Mysterium
Another sillier board game called Hand to Hand Wombat
A steering wheel for the switch for playing Mario Karts with the dc.

zestysparkles · 10/11/2022 08:58

Nothing that requires any effort because that's all I'll get in return
