The ones on here that are spectacularly shit - like the Xmas cards - always put me in mind of a client I had either mild learning disabilities. Able enough to post on Facebook etc but not really able to understand her products weren't things people would buy

This is genuinely one of my highlights of the festive season.

Curious has anyone ever been gifted any of this or similar shite? I am just wondering who buys it and if it’s only ever bought by people either with zero taste or as passive aggressive gifts?

I have, but only because I don't want to offend the person who makes and gives me them. The person has plenty of orders, I can only guess from others with terrible eyesight.

I was once given one of those dreadful framed homemade family tree pictures with a cheap tree stuck onto paper, a few sparkles glued on and our names written in very childlike handwriting. I hated it.

The frame wasn’t too bad and a few weeks later my daughter got a nice picture for her birthday, so I removed the family tree and put her picture in the frame instead. It was from my SIL who lives a distance away and rarely visits, so I knew no one would be questioning where the family tree picture was!

My mother gives me stuff like this all the time. The loft is full of it!

She only gave me a £4.50 pack of chocolates last Christmas (in a flavour I hate), even after we’d gone shopping together and I bought her everything she had picked out.

I was quite upset until I thought about all the hideous crap I might have received. Chocolates are easy to give away but I couldn’t pass any of the tat she usually buys on to anyone else and I feel too guilty to bin it just in case I’m asked about it!

So far as I am concerned once a gift has been given the recipient no longer has any rights over what happens to it.

By not being honest you are continuing to give her the impression that it’s okay for her give no consideration to what she gives to you whilst you still put in the effort for her.
Just say it wasn’t to me taste so I didn’t use/keep it. She will get the message and whatever she does with that information is her choice not your responsibility.
