What do you usually put in your kids stockings?

Growing up DS19 would have a fair amount in there iof small things like

• 12ish packs of sweets, like Tubes of rolos, smarties, irn bru chew bars, poppets, fudge Bar, mars bar etc. Naturally these were breakfast ha ha
• 5-8 little toys like YoYo, foam plane, metal car, fidget toys, noise machine, slap band, keyrings, Lego blind bag etc
• toothpaste (he loves the Theramed one 😂) and new toothbrush would be a novelty one.
• a pair of socks
• a satsuma
• lottery scratch card

Never anything expensive and/or big, like DVDs or computer games or books etc that I know his pals would get.

His stocking is a "normal" sized one, like a big long sock as pictured. (As I know some people have pillowcases/sacks, so just a bit of context as to one reason why big items wouldn't be in there)

Satsuma, sugar mouse, sweets, Poundland type toys (foam planes, doll, etc). A couple of 'bigger' gifts from the list, usually bought on sale/reduced through the year.
Socks, hair stuff, chocolate money, colouring or puzzle book, toy figures - dinosaurs, mermaids etc.
Father Christmas only brings stockings, although they do overflow, and the biggest gifts like a bike, are from us. Everything is wrapped, usually in cheap paper and with not much care as Father Christmas is very busy 😆

And they have duvet covers with an advent calendar on and 24 has an actual pocket so they get something in that rather than a Christmas Eve box. Usually new pjs and/or a game to play as a family.

I used to love doing this. So much thought goes into a stocking for an adult because it is lots of little gifts so avoids the whole "here I've spent loads on something" and requires some love and time and effort, thoughtfulness.

I am single now but absolutely think adult stockings are a wonderful idea for those in relationships.

Ours are easily £100.

I include small semi essentials I would have already had to buy otherwise ( paint brushes, swim goggles this year ), and stuff to go with main gift which is schleich play set, so some schleich accessories. Plus chocolate

Placemarking

• Book, usually christmas themed
• choc coins
• pack of biscuits (DD loves biscuits)
• Christmas pjs (bought in jan sale and sized up for next year)
• bubble bath or bath bombs
• 2 or 3 treat things like small toy lego figure or decorative thingy for bedroom. This year its a lego dumbledore, new hot water bottle and a frida khalo plant pot.
• soft toy (usually on her santa list but if not then a xmas squishy)
• new mug
• one of the smaller value and sized items on her letter to santa. This year she has asked for new ballet shoes - even though she has given up ballet

Shower gel

A coin in the toe, orange/chocolate orange, sweets, small Lego set type toy, maybe some socks/gloves something like that, jewellery/hair accessories, and then a teddy sticking out the top.

We try to go for a mix of useful and fun and to avoid 5 minute wonders. This year for DS 11:
