If you shop there, what do you buy?

Oooooh pickled brussel sprouts would have been a perfect present for DH but they have sold out, and no option to do the 'email when back in stock' thing.

Gutted! May have to try it myself.

Acorn59 · 15/11/2022 06:37

Has anyone tried the Christmas Merrilossus Biscuits please, I’m trying to give myself a very good reason to buy them 😅
The Whisky Lebkuchen are gorgeous, and I don’t like whiskey!

I went to F&M Piccadilly on Saturday and it was hand to hand combat in there. The crowds were unbelievable last weekend in the city, so I didn't make my next few stops because I just couldn't face it after jostling in Fortnums. Used to be hordes of Chinese, now its hordes of Americans and a few Western Europeans milling about the food halls. (oh, and the selfies outside the store and people almost being run over by taxis as they stand in the street to take a photo with the camera)

Pro tip if you are headed to Piccadilly, ALL the Christmas specialties are on the first floor (by jewellry) in a corner. I wish I had known, that would have made it a hell of a lot faster of a trip than it was.

The pickled sprouts I was thinking to get some for my dad, but the only size available was rather large jar and as it was a try and see, didn't seem prudent to waste suitcase space and money on them. Surely they cant be that hard to make at home?!

🤣
At completely the opposite end of the scale, nipped to Aldi this morning. Roads gridlocked, not a parking space to be had and all of the tills operational.

feels like people are buying much earlier this year, wherever they shop.

I'm starting to feel very excited about Christmas now and can't wait for my F&M parcel to arrive. I think it's due the 4th December. I mentioned the champagne box to my mum the other day and she wasn't listening and thought I'd actually ordered it. No, but I might for our holiday.

@Acorn59 - I have had the Merrilossus biscuits and I can definitely recommend them! They are so chocolate-y and delicious. The Cherrilossus and Toffolossus biscuits are great too.

Acorn59 · 16/11/2022 14:29

Thank you. My husband is near St Paul’s today, I’ve sent a message to buy a tin 😁

AlternativelyWired · 01/12/2022 13:35

My F&M package (sounds like something rude) was due to be delivered today but there's a delay with DPD. First world problems I know but it's the 1st December and being officially excited about Christmas is now allowed. Of course I will be waiting until Christmas Day to try my champagne truffles but I'm giving out the coal on Christmas Eve before midnight mass to keep the dc in line 😁

If the coal and truffles are as nice as I hope this might become a Christmas tradition.

Puddywoodycat · 01/12/2022 16:33

Acorn59 · 01/12/2022 16:35

They have a shop in the Royal Exchange 😅

SuperSange · 01/12/2022 16:35

ManefesationofConciousness · 02/11/2022 21:09

Their chocolates are made by Audreys
www.audreyschocolates.co.uk

Not all of them; some are made at Chocolate Craft, Hampshire

TawnyPippit · 01/12/2022 16:49

I have bought a jar of the pickled Brussels sprouts for DH for Christmas. I thought they might be rather good in a festive martini!!!

Puddywoodycat · 01/12/2022 17:42

@Acorn59

Are we talking London and if so where is the royal exchange?.

I was just musing on the limits of your DH ,I could imagine my DH reaction if I said on the back of a mn thread could he traverse across London 🤣 to spend ££

Acorn59 · 01/12/2022 17:54

Yes, London, the Royal Exchange is facing the Bank of England. They have a rather nice bar too 😅

bruffin · 02/12/2022 15:28

My DS took me for breakfast at 45 Jermyn today, which is part of Fortnums. It was lovely, a real treat

I love F&M marzipan fruits. I have given them as presents (to people that like marzipan obvs) and it’s always a winner.

So much of it is mad-expensive compared to other brands but as presents I think delicious food is always welcomed by people at every age and stage. And the tins are pretty.

These are gorgeous next year I’ll have some and send some to a friend, it will take all year to save for next year but December is going to be my blow out month.

AffIt · 22/12/2022 16:33

The Breakfast Blend and Countess Grey teabags (I can't be faffed with loose tea), rose jam, piccalilli, Seville marmalade and the Japanese sencha green tea that comes in a little purple tin (the one kind of loose tea I can be faffed with).

professionalnomad · 22/12/2022 17:07

We get my in law's this hamper every year. My MIL is an absolute angel and I love the fact we can make her Boxing Day prep for my DH's very large family a little bit easier for her. It's not cheap but she is wonderful and worth every penny!
