Ho ho ho and welcome to the bargain Christmas thread - home of the discounts for Christmas shopping.

A bit of competition for the thread title this time - thanks for all the contenders and nominees and @Someaddedsugar for the title. This says a lot about your phones autocorrect I think Grin 🤣

Pokemon Lego - there’s a 3 in 1 Lego set of a lion which has alternative instructions for building pikachu. I’ll try to find the site

For the posters asking about Footballsbest4u. I ordered from them last year - a football kit for my DS - it was excellent quality and my son was absolutely delighted!

Thanks for this. I may order.

Soscrewed · 25/10/2022 23:41

@CakeCrumbs44 crayola scented markers are still £3 if you scroll down and select other sellers. (So annoying when it does that!)

Can anyone help please? DD wants Posca pens, but I don’t know anything about them. What do the numbers mean? Has anyone seen any they’d recommend ? I have a maximum budget of £15, but I’m not sure that’s enough looking at the prices on Amazon!

They are liquid paint pens. The numbers are the thickness of the nibs - so 5M is a medium size and you can get 0.1mm for example which is for fine details. Depends what she wants them for! Hope that helps. Hobby craft had 50% off them a few weeks ago but not sure now sorry!

The Crayola markers are back up to £10 now!

Gruum have a "free" trio box, you pay £4 postage which doesn't seem too bad for 3 items. Hoping it will be suitable for my SIL

A few of us have had the Gruum box. It's not very gift able. It comes delivered with the address label stuck on the actual box. It consists of one sort of full size bar and two off cuts as I'd call them. Would maybe be ok as an extra stocking filler, but it just looks meh. Ok for 'free' I guess.

Ah well I will just use it myself then :)

EveLe · 26/10/2022 09:15

@kiwi17 Thanl you that’s helpful. I’m not sure she even knows what she wants them for! Sounds like it’s something she’s heard about at school. But she loves collecting Knick knacks, and has a shelf full of little porcelain ornaments, so I’m guessing she wants to personalise those, so I think a finer nib might be better.

DillieDoily · 26/10/2022 09:28

My local TK Maxx had loads of the Spode Christmas tree tableware and ovenware if anyone wants to top up their collections from previous years. I can't seem to upload the photos I took but plates, bowls etc were £4.99-£5.99 each and the serving dishes and ovenware were £16.99-£19.99. I may have treated myself to some serving dishes and bowls....

I agree. There's no way you could gift the gruum box. It really does look like a bog standard free trial, has the address label covering the entire box and the products weren't very nice. It was a complete waste of £4 for me.

Don't suppose anyone know if this is any use? Dh likes a coffee occasionally but is NOT a coffee snob so no point buying anything posh. I want a pod one because anything too complicated he just won't use. Any suggestions / opinions?

It's not a machine but so much nicer and I promise - takes two minutes tops to get going - how about a mokka stove top pot? Makes lovely coffee and better for the planet? I'll find some links and post in a mo.

Bialetti is the brand often used in Italy but there's lots of own brands about which are probably just as good.

Saying that my MIL had an old school enormous filter coffee and jug thing which I swear makes some of the nicest at home coffee I drink ... I love the smell it wafts out and the sound it makes whilst brewing Grin blimmin huge it is though!
