I’m a bit stumped this year.
I’ll be putting a good quality nail varnish in mine 🤣 I usually put scratch cards in them too.
I’ve previously done
mini shower gels
lip balm
seeds
miniatures of brandy, whisky etc
personalised bottle openers
hand cream
pillow sprays
socks
usb sticks
Things such as ties, cuff links etc wouldn’t be used by any of them

Eye mask
Bath bombs
Mini shampoo conditioner
Body shop do those mini face mask pots

Miniature alcohol
Perfume or aftershave sample or mini atomiser
Eco glitter (for face or hair)
Glass nail file
Nail clippers (good ones)
Tweezers

I find women really easy to get things for.

For blokes I've done:

Microfibre lens cleaning cloth [for specs, sunglasses, cameras]
Lens cleaning spray [as above]
Tiny torches
Those annoying puzzles with interlocking wooden bits
Reels of coloured electrical tape
Highlighter pen
Expensive: usb memory stick/flash drive

Crackers? For the dinner table you mean? If so, how do you make them?

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 13/10/2022 20:31

Mum's getting a lego elf keyring. (As is 16 year old DS)
Step dad will probably get a mini whisky.

Mum fills mine so no idea what it will be. Last year it was a set of needles to sew up crochet work. I'm sure there was something else too, but I can't remember what!

You can buy kits from hobbycraft/the range/the works etc that you fill yourself. I can't ever remember having shop bought crackers at home, we always had homemade ones.

AlternativelyWired · 13/10/2022 21:15

I'm missing something here-how do you ensure that the person the cracker is for is the winner? Crackers get very competitive here and mum's tia Maria miniature would not be appreciated by ds or anyone else.

snowmanshoes · 13/10/2022 21:20

I’m thinking a lottery scratch card and a ferrero rocher 🤣

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 13/10/2022 21:23

@AlternativelyWired you put their name on it!

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 13/10/2022 21:24

Excellent thread!

Names either on the cracker decoration somewhere, or written in the end. None of that "winning" crap. The one with my name on is mine, regardless of who ends up with it in their hand.

We always used to make ours with loo rolls and crepe paper!

It's entirely possible that's how they started!

So no snap necessary? I've got some donated ones that ds can pull to his hearts content but I like the idea of a cracker as a table favour. My head is a mess at the moment with covid-I'm not usually this slow on the uptakeBlush
Last year I fancied doing little table favours but in the end I didn't.

JenniferBarkley · 13/10/2022 21:55

I've just put chocolates the last few years - something that will be consumed rather than hang around. Hotel chocolat do some, or I got empty ones from M&S last year and a box of lindor.

Crackers are all about competition, the hats and the jokes for us.

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 13/10/2022 22:30

Always a £1 Christmas scratch card then a mini Lindt chocolate santa 🎅 or reindeer

Si1ver · 13/10/2022 22:32

Earrings for the women, probably everlasting matches for the men. Paired with miniatures and chocolate. Whoopee cushions for the kids + something extra and a chocolate.

YorkieTheRabbit · 13/10/2022 22:48

Thanks everyone 😊
I’m just looking at Next at the moment, they have some cracker type gifts on there at the moment with various beauty/grooming items in. I think I might get one of each and then split them for the crackers 🤔 definitely a scratch card and possibly a chocolate coin.

Oh and I always put names on. None of this winning malarkey 😂

Those of you that do miniature alcohol, do you have to be careful not to pull too vigorously in case the glass goes flying? Or have you managed to find some that are plastic?

I got some lovely personalised ones from Etsy last year that came with the snap, joke and hat so I just constructed them and added the gift.

I bought a big pack of ‘snaps’ from Amazon or somewhere a few years ago. Definitely necessary! 🙂

BCBird · 14/10/2022 05:23

I'm intrigued, I have never heard on adult crackers.

Starlitexpress · 14/10/2022 06:09

Mini screwdriver keyring, for tightening your glasses. Had someone say it was their best Christmas present one year!

Dammitthisisshit · 14/10/2022 06:34

I love my mini penknife that goes on a key ring. perfect cracker sized

SpringIntoChaos · 14/10/2022 06:36

Erm...I buy a pack of shiny silver crackers from Tesco, full of cheap tat, and bung them in the table. Like most people 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
