Would fingerprinting the cat be too weird?

Our lovely NDNs have a cat that often comes over to our house and makes himself at home if they're out. He's a keen hunter cat who brings them lots of presents of dead mice, birds and the occasional rat. They're vegans and we've joked about him bringing home mushrooms instead.

Would it be too weird to put a muddy pawprint from the cat in a Christmas card and leave it on their doorstep on Christmas day with some fancy gift-wrapped mushrooms? I think it would be funny.

I think that’s great!! I would love that 😂😂

dailyfup · 10/10/2022 11:18

I would do that!
And I would love it if someone did it to me

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/10/2022 11:28

I'd be thoroughly amused by that 👍

mistermagpie · 10/10/2022 11:30

I've got cats and I would think that was funny!

PolkaDotMankini · 10/10/2022 11:34

Excellent. I'll pop some nice mushrooms on my Christmas shopping list. You're all to blame if they report me to some sort of authority.

This made my day! Go for it and let your freak flag fly it is beautiful!

please do it!!

Needmorelego · 10/10/2022 12:32

Brilliant idea. I love it. You might just have to print a paw print off the internet or something because I doubt the cat will allow you to do actual paw prints 🤣

LizaSimpson · 10/10/2022 12:37

I was scrolling too fast and thought it said "fingering" yours is much less weird Grin

I think it's funny, I'd like it.

I was thinking of making him cross an ink mat to get to some treats. But then I don't really want inky paw prints on my kitchen floor. And my neighbours might question why his paw is coloured in.

Nothing about that strikes me as weird 😺

EdithWeston · 10/10/2022 13:55

Will you post videos of any and all attempts to get the cat to co-operating with paw-printing?

Xmas Grin
SirenSays · 10/10/2022 13:57

Totally adorable idea 🐱

Wheelyweddingwipedout · 10/10/2022 13:58

You could put some damp sand down in a tray, get the paw print, fill it with clay and paw print the clay paw print? You could also turn the clay paw print into a tree decoration?

That's an excellent idea.

MN doesn't let you post videos thankfully.

You can buy footprint kits that don't involve directly inking the cat - depends how amenable they are to some gentle manhandling 😄 - Amazon sell them as either pet or baby handprint kits, only a few quid

I may have just put my cat at risk of identity fraud

PolkaDotMankini · 10/10/2022 16:44

That's a good idea. I'd thought about using a shallow oven tray smeared with mud.

Check out how toxic to cats anything is that you're tempted to try!

3kidsaremorethanenough · 10/10/2022 16:54

Awwww that is such a lovely thing to do, wish I had neighbours like you OP 😊

Yes, absolutely! It would be the worst Christmas ever if I managed to kill the blooming cat while attempting to get its paw print.
