I'm making DH an advent calendar as a surprise (he's bought me the Liberty one). His is the type that is just the wee paper bags that you stick the numbers on.
So far I've got him:
a couple of giant bars of chocolate (they won't fit in the bags, so I'll substitute those with little mini ones).
some spicy sauces
fancy jams
a couple of Molton Brown things
and I'll buy him some other foreign sweets and beers to fill in the remaining spaces.
For 25 December though, he's getting a guide book for Berlin, as I've booked a surprise trip for us in May. He's often spoken about going and will be delighted. It's obviously a present for us both and it's his birthday while we're there so it's a combined present.
He's such a fantastic DH anyway, but has been such a support to me this year when my mum became ill and then died at the end of July.
I don't really have many other people to buy for, sadly, as we don't have DC. I'll go shopping with my friend so she can choose some things that her wee girl would like though, she's 4 and is such a sweetheart.
The neighbours to the right of us will get flowers and a bottle of prosecco.
The ones to the left will get flowers and a jigsaw (I've already bought the prosecco and the jigsaw).
Our friends who run the kennels that we use will get flowers and a voucher for a meal at their favourite country pub.
We also hand in cakes (not homemade, don't want to kill anyone!) or fancy biscuits to the staff at out vet and for the wonderful reception staff at our doctor's surgery. I'll probably also buy a big jar of retro sweets to give to the staff at my hairdresser's.
DH will get something for his parents; Dbro and I don't exchange gifts and neither do my other friends.
I don't normally buy anything for my aunties, but this year I've bought them both a glass Christmas tree bauble which contains wild flowers and it has the word "sister" on it, in memory of my mum. They can plant the seeds in March/April and hopefully they'll attract bees and butterflies when they grow.
