He likes Minecraft but won’t wear a dressing gown , only likes the game . I’ve got him some books on it and some swimming trunks , a water bottle . some other books I think he will like me reading to him . A couple of Lego sets . This I think will be from Santa , but I’m looking for other ideas people may have . I’ve also noted down scratch cards from another thread as that sort of thing interests him

Maybe some accessories for whatever console he plays Minecraft on?

starsparkle08 · 28/09/2022 19:04

He plays it on the switch lite . Not sure if I can get anything for that ? X

My two middle children have mostly minecraft lego, minecraft merch, a few books, minecraft clothes, minecraft bedding. Treasure x minecraft dig things where you get dig through slime I assume for character figures. Extra large stress ball squishee of a minecraft character, minecraft board game. Minecraft stationery, minecraft bedding. Switch game gang beasts and some bath bombs. Doesn't sound very exciting but they just want minecraft stuff so 🤷

fruitpastille · 28/09/2022 19:16

Some good quality headphones to wear while he plays. Gaming chair?

starsparkle08 · 28/09/2022 21:15

Whatever you do don't go too far with the Minecraft stuff at the expense of other things. I have spent far too much money on special interests not for them to be dropped not long after!! Make sure he has a good mix of things.

gonnabeok · 28/09/2022 21:37

Does he like manga?it's highly popular with that age group at the moment. Book series like deathnote, assassination classroom, demon slayer, Hunter X Hunter. My daughter's 12 and autistic. She loves Minecraft too. A lot of her autistic friends love manga. Waterstones stock a lot of the book series as do Amazon.

crazyBadger · 28/09/2022 22:17

Bath bombs and sheet face masks are a hit with my boys.

Also Christmas pudding/sprout juggling balls have been picked up everyday... Admittedly mainly to throw at each other but it's all hand eye coordination:)

PineForestsAndSunshine · 29/09/2022 08:22

In-game purchases like texture packs?

I usually make little gift boxes for vouchers to make them seem a bit more substantial. Or if it's easier to just let him purchase what he wants directly in game you can buy customised scratch cards - like this one from Etsy www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1291658135/

Thanks everyone great ideas 😊

@starsparkle08 Erm, not sure how to describe Gang Beasts, nothing like the title makes you think. The write up says 'Gang Beasts is a silly multiplayer party game with surly gelatinous characters, brutal slapstick fight sequences, and absurdly hazardous environments.'. It's the new popular game up there with Among Us, Roblox, Fall Guys etc. My kids were randomly playing it the other day in multiplayer on the xbox, must be a free trial on my husbands account, they were in hysterics so I'm thinking it was a good buy for them.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 29/09/2022 19:16

If he likes to have books read to him, maybe a subscription to audiable?

My DS is also asd.

Does your DS actually want presents? Or is it just that you feel bad if he doesn't have a good pile?

My DS wants very little, at best if you give him things he's not wanting he's uninterested, at worst he gets confused and upset.

We buy him anything he explicitly asks for, and things we know he likes between the whole family. Realistically we're only spending what the GPs are gifting so we put the extra into an account for when he does want something.

OriginalUsername2 · 29/09/2022 19:29

Does he like fidget toys, stress balls, etc? I’ve always got those in my Amazon basket, there’s so many fun looking ones. (Loving ball poppers atm!)

iRun2eatCake · 29/09/2022 19:32

Posters for his wall, lampshade, beanbag, bedding, weighted blanket, pjs, clothes

Longbarn5 · 30/09/2022 13:36

If he likes music what about an electric piano. Could look for one second hand

Wheretheskyisblue · 30/09/2022 13:42

I give my son who has ASD vouchers which he can exchange for his favouite activities as he is not really into presents.

FluffySocksAndHotChocolate · 30/09/2022 14:07

My 11 year old ASD son has Jurassic world lego (special interest), a few new ps4 games he's asked for, a new headset (he breaks them all the time), and then some vouchers for various games and some money.

He does like the opening of gifts so it’s hard as I don’t want to waste money either . Your so right about giving things unwanted though
