What are you getting the men in your life?

As the title says, gifts for men. I’ve got three to buy for, ages 15, 38 and 66.
So far I’ve bought,
Whiskey, some edibles and L’occitaine shower gel for the oldest
Liz Earle shower gel and hot cloth cleanser and white chocolate for the 38 year old
15 year old has odd socks, some baking accessories as he like cooking

I'm not buying for my husband or siblings or SDad, but have bought a wheelybug, rainbow stacking arch, hape piano and nursery times crinkly newspaper for DS1.

CaptainCreepsBourgeMobile · 27/09/2022 16:09

The men in your life have better beauty regimes than me.
I'll buy DH socks. I don't know what else to get. All the cookbooks he has his eye on seem to be £100+

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 17:44

@CaptainCreepsBourgeMobile 😊
There will be thermal socks too but I’ve not much inspiration for stelae yet

Tempted by a perfect draft machine. But that's sort of selfish as it's because I want DF to pour me a pint on Christmas Day

mam0918 · 27/09/2022 18:05

Some of the things I have bought for men this year:

Wireless charger
Incense burner
Tickets
Blanket
Trainers
Hot sauce
Blue gaming glasses
Cheese
Books
Band tshirt

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 18:05

@sittingonacornflake DP has a perfect draft machine, it’s really good and there’s a very good choice of beers, however the kegs have increased in price three times this year, it does work out quite a bit more than bottled beer. Depending on where in the country you live, it’s actually more expensive than the pub 😂

@mam0918
blanket is a good call for the 15 year old

I'm tempted to get DH a Lego trainset. He mentioned they looked cool. He'd really love the millennium falcon but I'd cant stretch to that.

Otherwise, no idea

sittingonacornflake · 27/09/2022 18:22

@YorkieTheRabbit thank you that's actually really good to know and I think I will rethink it. We are spitting distance from our very nice local so it's not like we are deprived.

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 18:22

I’ve bought some Lego in the past, it’s definitely £££

I have to ask just because I’m curious, when you say you’ve bought him edibles, do you mean drugs?

dp might get a velvetiser or the Aldi Knock off if they do it this year (he really doesn’t care for brands and would prefer a variety of gifts I think)

BigFatLiar · 27/09/2022 18:32

He doesn't get a lot, he has me what more could he need😁
I'll be getting him a couple of annuals and maybe a book (he's started looking at Calvin & Hobbes cartoons so maybe a book of those)

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 18:33

@sittingonacornflake the kegs range between £32 to around £42 depending on which beer you want. They are 6 litres so roughly 10.5 pints works out £3.50 to £4 a pint. You do get beer tokens which you can use towards another purchase when the empty kegs are returned, I’m not sure if they now charge for delivery. As far as I’m aware, it’s only beer hawk that sell the comparable kegs.

I’m not buying for DH - we do something together instead (like make chocolate truffles and buy the ingredients).
All the other men we do secret Santa ( in laws it’s anonymous and you buy 1 gift), my family we do secret Santa but have a list of wants for each person so they don’t end up with something they won’t use.

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 18:35

@CurlsLDN Erm no 😂 I’m old, to me it just means things to eat.

OP posts:
CurlsLDN · 27/09/2022 18:39

Haha I wondered! Well just be aware that to a lot of people it means brownies, cookies etc with weed or mushrooms in.
the 66 yr old might think you’ve got him a duff batch if he’s expecting edibles and doesn’t feel the effects 😀

DoodlePug · 27/09/2022 18:43

Beer advent calendar, gin and socks, he's easy.

For teen a charger, powerbank, strip lights for around monitor or cool mouse mat

lookeelikee · 27/09/2022 18:48

I want an air fryer.

DM for the address :)

MintJulia · 27/09/2022 18:51

For the man in my life (14yo DS 😊) I'm swapping his outgrown Frog bike for an adult bike.

Plus buying him some stable boots, a new fleece, some book tokens, a computer game, a toiletries pack and (if needed by then) a shaving lesson at a barber.

Plus the normal chocolate etc

Newmummy343 · 27/09/2022 20:23

@DoodlePug where do you get your beer advent calender from if you don't mind me asking? I have no idea for the men in my life I always struggle with my DH. My DSS is 18 now so really hard and hate just giving money

Nearlyadoctor · 27/09/2022 20:37

DH is getting Brewdog advent calendar and a Lego set ( he’s never had Lego - not DS’s dad)
DS 29 Lego Land Rover defender
DF - Whisky and books

Skinnymalinksmalogenlegs · 27/09/2022 21:40

Beer advent calendar sounds like something she would enjoy.

@mam0918 what are blue gaming glasses? And would a 16 year old DS like them?

Skinnymalinksmalogenlegs · 27/09/2022 21:40

Sorry 😐, she should be dh!

YorkieTheRabbit · 27/09/2022 22:26

Power bank is a good idea, 🤔 for the teen.
Ive looked at beer advent calendars in the past but I ended up buying 25 different beers, wrapping each bottle in coloured tissue and putting it out each morning.

Its more likely to me CBD jelly sweets that you can buy in those 'festival' market stall type places now.

I know lots of people into them (I never got the hype) and no one makes brownies/cookies, they either get the sweets or the vape (but thats not 'edible').
