Thanks for the chocolate frogs. Niche but I keep them for Passover!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 19/09/2022 08:14

I also love vinted and have bought lots from there and been very happy with my bargains. But just be aware there is a well known scam on there where they sell consoles/high end goods very cheap. I got caught by this and realised what happened quickly but still took ages to get my money back as you have to wait 14 or 21 days then only have a 2 day window to say there's a problem. The seller kept saying there was no problem despite when I searched for them their profile was banned, they denied it and were still able to mark the item as posted. Here is a link that explains it in more detail vinted scam

LemonFrosting · 19/09/2022 08:24

Thank you @nocutsnobuttsnococonuts the clothes and books I'm looking at are only £1, all with free delivery too!
I normally sell on ebay but I may try selling a few bits on vinted instead.
Sorry to derail the thread, back to the bargains!

EverydayIsPJday · 19/09/2022 08:30

@Isonthecase how did you get the first little fawn box for £8 I cant see it? It's coming up as £8. I'd actually quite like this ☺️

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 19/09/2022 08:46

Not sure what the dates would be like but 100 kit kat chocolate festive friends are £17.33 on Amazon - good for splitting for stocking fillers etc or if you have a real chocoholic to buy for 😂😂

100 x KitKat friends

Isonthecase · 19/09/2022 08:59

@EverydayIsPJday I haven't yet! There's a code on the item page at the bottom of the description.

Isonthecase · 19/09/2022 09:01

Keep meaning to say, of anyone is trying to upgrade their wrapping game loads of places do personalised ribbon and stickers, usually weeks cheap on eBay. Jazzes up simple wrapping.

EverydayIsPJday · 19/09/2022 09:02

Ah OK @Isonthecase thanks, I genuinely can't see it. There's a free gift so I wonder if it's changed.

Just a reminder to have a browse on vinted if you are not too fussy about boxes/can be bothered. I've just picked up the massive motorised Paw Patrol Dino Patroller complete with figures, missiles and in full working order for £6 including the delivery cost (£2.25 buy it price compared to £50 on amazon 😵‍💫)... It's hit and miss but when you find a bargain it can be pretty good! I have some paw patrol wrapping paper left from DS1's birthday I can use, and DS2 is not 3 until Jan so he really won't give a hoot that it's not in the original packaging. Yesterday I grabbed a large JoJo M Bebe soft toy reindeer for my (to be born this week!!) DD for £1, from a new seller so postage was free. Winner 🏆

I totally agree. I would also say I have recently booked a stall at a local Mum2mum sale for the end of November. I will sell a load of toys cheaply. Last year I made just over £100 after the cost of the stall which is handy for Christmas and cleared our house of unwanted toys. I picked up a couple of cuddly tractors for my 3 year old twins. If things are tight I would recommend these sales for toddler toys like Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig etc for older toys your probably better off using Vinted.

Chaenomeles · 19/09/2022 09:09

Royal Essence have a sale on at the moment, including body scrubs with hidden silver jewellery. If you haven't already ordered, you can stack this with £5 off for making an account and 10% referral code, which would make a "pot of gold" body scrub with necklace or ring (various sizes still available), RRP £24.97 go down to about £4 plus delivery. Maybe a nice stocking filler for a teen girl?

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 19/09/2022 09:10

Thanks @DrDrLucyVanPelt
Glad its not just me! I had to write that comment before scrolling down the page as it wouldn't move at all.

I don't like the thought of missing out on too many bargains 🤣

ideasmirrour · 19/09/2022 09:12

@FragileWitch I really recommend this lovely book about a preteen girl living in Tudor England — it was one of my absolute favourites as a child, and has just been republished in a new edition (it’s on Amazon too). There’s the most lovely chapter about Christmas in Tudor England which is gorgeously atmospheric:

Yes, the light up houses are very different this year. I guess it's in their best interests to change them year on year.

I took it that the PP meant the massively overpriced and totally pretend gin masquerading gin shit sugary liqueur gin was the same (might be wrong) If so, I'd definitely swerve it. They were desperate to shift the stuff last year. It was rank.

Agree re the light up sugarplum gin. Tasted of loo cleaner 🤢 I can normally force down any drink, but despite trying VERY hard could only manage a third of a glass of a g&t made with this stuff before giving up. Still haven’t found anyone to agree to take it, so I imagine it’ll be going down the sink before this Christmas 😕

Has anyone tried the little fawn box site mentioned previously? They've got a good sale on wooden toys as well as the crinkly newspapers but not sure how legit they are. Also seem to have a first subscription box for £8 which would also give 20% off the rest of the site, not sure if including sale.
www.littlefawnbox.co.uk/products/mum-baby-box

Yes I did 3 month Mum&Baby box subscription last year and also gifted a couple of subscriptions. Actually got some fantastic bits in the boxes (toys my DS still uses that will be passed to DC due in the new year). Definitely good value and good quality I found.

Bluezoo123 · 19/09/2022 10:38

@Chaenomeles would like to use this deal - how do I get the 10% referral and £5-sorry having a moment and can't figure it out! Thanks

ChristmasSirens · 19/09/2022 10:46

Blessedbethefruitz · 18/09/2022 20:46

The ukulele has some very poor reviews, including dangerous ones?! My little boy is desperate for one though :/

The differences in reviews are telling. Honestly, I suspect it’s the difference between those expecting a cheap toy, and those looking for a musical instrument. My nephew had something similar to one of these, wouldn’t stay tuned (like these reviews). He enjoyed bashing about with it but don’t confuse that with a musical instrument.

LunaCrystal · 19/09/2022 11:45

The Works code for 10% off: WKS10

Imperial Candle code for 10% off: HELLO10

I have a Disney Store code for 20% off if anyone would like it, valid 03/10 until 17/10

Everybodysaycheese · 19/09/2022 12:20

@LunaCrystal I would love the Disney code please?

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 19/09/2022 12:27

Not sure if this is the best deal but one of the barbie dream houses. Down from £200 on Amazon

Thread 4 - the one with the pick up and take along gran
ParentallyUnprepared · 19/09/2022 12:50

Jewellery for a teen, please?

I've been back through the threads but I can't find the link I'm looking for.

Chaenomeles · 19/09/2022 13:01

@Bluezoo123 No problems:
My referral link is on page 22 of the referrals thread, so start by going through there: www.mumsnet.com/talk/Christmas/4421887-Bargain-referral-thread-4?page=22
Once you've done that, you'll get a pop up saying that I've given you 10% off, and asking you to put your email in. This gets you emailed a code to use at checkout.
Next, join their reward programme. I think this is via a little pink button on the bottom left. You'll need to enter your email again, but you'll get 500 points just for joining. This can be cashed in for £5 off. Fingers crossed it stacks!

ChristmasSirens · 19/09/2022 13:03

@ParentallyUnprepared - hot diamonds. The outlet is good but you will need to search the previous couple of threads for the codes. JEWELS was one of them.

Isonthecase · 19/09/2022 13:25

@EverydayIsPJday helps if I link the right one! www.littlefawnbox.co.uk/products/september-mum-baby-box-one-off-box-pre-order
"Get your 1st box for only £8 using code WSP8 at checkout. "
If that won't work, they also had mystery boxes for £7. www.littlefawnbox.co.uk/products/mystery-mum-baby-box-one-off-box?variant=42577553293511

Another call out on this site, they stock the pebble toys mentioned in a previous thread. Worth comparing with the main site as they had a very good discount code that worked on sale too (pops up for subscribing). I ordered some and they were a total bargain and very lovely. www.pebblechild.com/catalogue/

Phew, that was more complicated than expected 🤣
