What will be this year’s ‘must have’/sell out toy?

Just wondering what people think 2022’s equivalent to the fingerling will be? I just love being the auntie who manages to get the toy that has already sold out by the time the child actually asks for it 😂😂 normally it’s really clear on the ‘must have toys’ lists but haven’t spotted anything this year! So predictions are welcome!!

I've got a 4yr old and never heard of Gabby's Doll House. Out of curiosity - for those of you that bought it for your children how old are they?

Mine are 5 and 2 and a half. My oldest got into Gabby last year, it's on Netflix. Now they both absolutely love it, probably my younger one even more.

There's a few reviews on TikTok about that airup bottle, anyone with a paid promo sings it's praises however anyone who bought their own says they're a bag of shite so I've held off getting one for mine

@BeautifulDragon Do you know if the AirUp bottles are any good? My daughter has asked for one but there seems to be ALOT of bad reviews? DOn't fancy wasting such alot for a plastic water bottle if they aren't any good.

My 11yo dd uses hers all the time but 9yo dd didn't like hers (I think she thought the smell would make it like drinking squash, which it clearly doesn't). Some flavours are better than others. Lime is definitely soapy as mentioned by a pp. Wild berry is the most popular flavour here. Dp has inherited dd2's unwanted bottle and uses it daily and likes it.

BluePassportsAreBollocks · 10/09/2022 04:41

Agree Air Ups will be kn everyone’s list this year. My kids both have and they’re ok… but the tops have a rubber seal which is hard for kids to push in properly to seal the bottle when they fill it so they always leak. And they leak if you hold upside down. Basically unless you’re holding it vertical can drinking through straw they leak. And some of the pods are useless or “don’t work” according to my kids.

BluePassportsAreBollocks · 10/09/2022 04:42

Just bought two hamsters - thanks for the heads up!

scrivette · 10/09/2022 07:13

A few girls on DC's class have it and I asked them and their parents if they were any good and they nearly all liked them, except one who couldn't notice the difference.

mam0918 · 10/09/2022 08:53

Oh I have also seen a lot of mention of Gravitrax this year among other parents in real life.

Soubriquet · 10/09/2022 09:14

I know 9 year old dd would love the Guinea pigs but I can’t justify the price to buy one.

She wants the new magic mixie too. With the fortune telling ball. I only paid for the cauldron christmas gone past and whilst she loved the cauldron, the actual mixie wasn’t played with very much. The ball is even more expensive so I doubt I’ll be getting it.

I will be buying more mixlings though. They are very popular here

AnotherCF · 11/09/2022 20:53

Outside of my budget but I think the play doh ice cream truck will be a trend.

AdmiralButterfly · 12/09/2022 12:08

dd saved her pocket money for an airup and loved it for two weeks then said to me that she thought maybe it was a bit expensive for what it was. Also a bit leaky to carry in a bag and a bit heavy to carry by hand all day.

Wait wait wait.....the most wanted thing at the moment is a water bottle ?
What is wrong with the children of today?
😂

better and more practical than a sticky impossible to crank mr frostie and I imagine most our parents went 'wait what? they want an ice grinder'.

@mam0918
"Mr Frosty - disappointing children everywhere since 1980"

Soubriquet · 12/09/2022 13:49

I got one Grin. It was shit

Trying to explain to dc about Mr Frosty expectations vs reality to their most wanted toy is hard though.

“you see. I really wanted a Mr Frosty and I got one. It was the toy of the year and it was actually rubbish. So maybe xyz will be rubbish too”

”yeah but mum that was like 25 years ago. Toys are better now and I’ll really like it”

I had a mr frosty too but dont remember asking for it, I definately had visions of it being better than it was, I would bug my mam to use it and a few minutes later full of frustraition remember why we never did use it and just go get a choc ice instead lol.

The Furby was the biggest disappointment for me, I think I must have been that age when it was release as its the only thing I think I ever asked for, I asked constantly and my mam searched high and low for one. I got an IOU and finally got it like 2 weeks after xmas and with in 10 minute I was bored and hated it lol.

My mam had actually got me a knock off toy when she couldnt get a Furby in time, it was an egg with little arms and feet (like humpty dumpty) the same size as a furby with light up eyes that talked in funny voice and vibrated like a bumble ball when you tickled its feet or said its name, which I actually end up prefering and playing with way more than the actual Furby.

Needmorelego · 12/09/2022 15:23

@Soubriquet your kid knows nothing 😂 Some of the Sindy stuff was made out of some well hard industrial plastic. We used to sit on the yellow beach buggy and whizz around the house. Solid stuff.

Play Doh - Ice Cream Cart.

Holy crap toys are getting expensive

I reckon ds would love that (so would dd) but no way am I paying that.

SnowJamz · 12/09/2022 18:33

I think my DD’s would love the play-doh ice cream truck but it’s so expensive for what it is and will take up lots of room. Be interested to read some reviews of it.

@DeadButDelicious

I'm still trying to convince myself it's ok to spend £65 on the guinea pigs she wants to keep the Santa magic alive. It just seems so expensive for what it is

I've just looked at this as my son has asked for a hamster 🤣 it looks really good! I want one 🤪

PinkButtercups · 13/09/2022 05:47

@Soubriquet my DS would love it to. I don't mind paying that as he has the fisher price fast food truck and absolutely loved that. It's definitely not worth that price though!

Anon778833 · 14/09/2022 20:29

My daughter likes Gabby’s doll house but it’s a very basic plastic doll house for £80!

Always4Brenner · 14/09/2022 20:32

PeloFondo · 09/09/2022 15:01

I just picked up this in Aldi for £20. Yes, it's for me, no judging Grin

I don’t blame you I’m having a plushie cuddly made up next year when I’m settled Christmas this year make and do but next totally different.

PeloFondo · 14/09/2022 20:57

@Always4Brenner it's the size of my torso Grin so I'm actually using it for leaning on when I watch TV or read. World of comfort
