It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

I just tried to use ECHOKIDS and it didn’t work - T&Cs say only for customers who have received the offer. They are £28 at John Lewis as well.

I was the same. Will try JL instead as DN would love the panda one. Thanks

Haudyourwheesht · 06/09/2022 12:32

You can use the Love2shop ones to buy a John Lewis voucher which is handy as you the have a year to use the JL one. Not sure if it works for other shops.

That's an excellent idea!

Looking for if people can advise for my DS nearly 10 please

  1. Friendship bracelet kit/ instructions etc- a lot of them are very pink.
  2. Magic kit that lasts- and decent tricks. Tried so many that just end up as landfill
  3. Simple but effective sushi making kit.

Could you make your own kit up for him with nori sheets, sushi rice, a bamboo rolling mat, fancy chop sticks etc? And something like this? Rice moulds

Reastie · 06/09/2022 14:25

Thank you so much for the technical help - I've fixed it and it works now - hurrah!

Also thanks to @sorryiasked for the comments to help update the next thread

See I like a one4all voucher, DH got one from work last Christmas and I immediately frogmarched him to M&S to replace some of his gross holey old clothes Grin

TwinsAndTiramisu · 06/09/2022 14:34

Just another voice to say please don't buy people those "Use in 100's of retailers" vouchers.

They make it so restrictive about using some online, some instore, some can't be a partial spend, loads of retailers have trouble cashing them. Honestly, it's a deliberate business ploy, because they are typically low-ish value, and people end up thinking, I literally can't be arsed to find a way to spend this utterly impossible £15, the voucher goes discarded in a drawer, and expires. Voila, they've got your money. All the £15s add up for them.

ChristmasLightsAndSparkles · 06/09/2022 14:39

If anyone has too-small turtle doves from the outlet in a mid to dark blue, please pm me and I'd be happy to buy them for cost+postage for DD. Thanks!

This is fine...if you have the time to frogmarch to M&S and have an amount to spend that's worth the fuel and parking to get there 😁

Loads can't be used online, and then if you find a rare one that does, that you're actually interested in, you'll find it won't stack with other codes, so whereas you could have had 20% off, you end up paying full price just to get rid of the voucher.

I think they're ok as a blanket gift from an employer who has many to cater for and no idea of personal interests.

@Reastie Possible title for the next thread “insulted coffee cup”

Take care with vouchers like Love to Shop and One for All ... I can't remember which but my SIL used to get me one every year from the garage at the end of her road dated the evening before! and they were a pain tbh ... if you forget what's on them retailer's aren't able to scan and tell you and it wasn't always possible to pay part voucher/part other method.

Also after about i think a year the company debits a small amount off the balance each month Confused

A bit of a pain in the arse really. I'd have preferred Nero or Starbucks!

All of this.

Their website is staggeringly shite too ... really tricky to navigate on a phone and to attempt to check your balance.

Give vulgar but universally gratefully accepted cold, hard cash instead Grin

I'm the OP of the Ebay Turtle Doves gloves.

Tbh, I didn't think that at £7ish a pair (when they were clearly described as seconds) they would be anywhere near the same as a perfect pair that could be gifted, but would cost thirty quid or so.

I've ordered from ebay but not received them yet and can't seem to view the original listing. I seem to remember it says they won't have a label though? It's certainly been discussed before, because lots of people were surprised when theirs arrived WITH label. If it did say that on the listing it's not reasonable to return them on that basis. I agree that people need to remember they've paid a fraction of the price and bought seconds.

I do agree though that they ought to fit an average adult hand if sold as adult size.

Zavvi has 5 items for £10, with £1.99 postage. Some nice stuff - peg boards, light up photo pegs etc.

Thank you. 5items bought and only £1.99 postage !

Thanks @Irritatedmum for Zavvi tip. Found some stocking fillers. It seems to be only one 5 for £10 per order. I
found this Lego Trolls set for £11.99 in their outlet which seemed a good price too and will make a good birthday gift for a friend’s DD.

@Reastie I was wondering if in your opening posts it would be worth noting popular gift options for different ages of children e.g. teen girls - silk pillowcase, airpods, make up by x. It might help people who are buying for a child in an age group where they don't know what's "in" so they can look out for deals. Feel free to ignore if it's a crap idea!

FairytaleofNewHampshire · 06/09/2022 20:32

Not sure if it's been mentioned but my M and S had some bars of Swiss choclate, biscuits, chocolates and other food items reduced at really low prices today. Most of the items had long dates, about six months in them.

IDontDrinkTea · 06/09/2022 20:35

Has anyone seen any good bargains on trampolines? Looking for about an 8ft one, with safety net. Must be able to hold an adult weight (because I want a turn too) but otherwise it’s for my 3yo who desperately wants one

Seafretfreda · 06/09/2022 20:46

Where are all these M&S deals? Haven’t seen any anywhere!

My local Aldi had theirs reduced to £80 as a post summer sell off I think. I'm not sure if that's local to mine though?

Aldi have an 8ft trampoline reduced to £79.99, not sure how that compares?

FairytaleofNewHampshire · 06/09/2022 21:00

@Seafretfreda It was in a Simply Food M&S branch.

On an earlier thread someone mentioned b&m online for trampolines- think similar price to Aldi.
I also saw some reduced in store in Asda a couple of weeks ago- think it was £59 for 8 foot but I didn’t look closely
