I remember seeing another thread a few years ago about this and some of the answers were so lovely and innocent.
2 year old DD has just asked for a Mermaid (luckily I know she means a soft toy she's seen and not a real one), a plum and a lemon for Christmas.
Apparently the lemon needs to be spicy!

What does everyone else's little ones want for Christmas?

When shewas 2yo... Toy numbers.

Christmas day, opened her stocking.... tears because no Toy numbers.

We retrieved the correct box from under the tree (magnetic numbers) and she was very happy

People who grew up
In Leicester in the 80's will probably remember being taken to see Santa climb up Lewi's tower. My parents told me to ask data for what I wanted for Christmas. Apparently I sat on my dads shoulders and shouted 'Tea pot house' they gave it back to me a few years ago!

A bear trap. I think it was to keep his little sister out of his room ...

Fennellathewitch · 19/08/2022 18:29

Random requests over the years, sellotape with dispenser, blue tac, feather duster, cactus, own pack of elastoplasts, litter picker, pink hair and a moustache.

GetUpAndGone · 19/08/2022 18:38

Last year my 7 year old son asked for a "really big cardboard box" so we got him one and wrapped it up 🤣 he was over the moon with it and sat in it all day and then turned it into all sorts of different creations over the following months.

Fennellathewitch · 19/08/2022 18:39

And a penny falls machine like the arcades, that one I could not do. But I did check ebay at the time...

TheVanguardSix · 19/08/2022 18:44

I’ll never forget DD sitting there in Santa’s Grotto and being asked what she’d like for Christmas and her reply was ‘lunch’. 😁 She was 2.

I bought a new car in the summer, it’s white. DS has declared that he wants a new blue (very specific about the colour) car for Christmas. I think he’s going to be very disappointed.🤦🏼‍♀️

I was taken to the Father Christmas at our local supermarket one year (I'd be about 3/4 yrs old), and asked for chips - my mother was mortified!

Then we did our shopping and went for a meal in the supermarket canteen afterwards and one of the ladies serving food asked my mum 'is this the wee girl who asked Santa for chips?' I got a mountain of free chips. Mother was mortified again lol.

Oh just thought of another one… it wasn’t for church, it was for his birthday, my DS wanted a bowl of water with moss balls in?! Lol

ToTryToDelight · 19/08/2022 19:20
  • Christmas not church!

When DS was 4 he asked for a sleigh. We already had a sledge, so he clarified that he wanted a Santa sleigh… found a cute Playmobil one. Nope, he wanted a full size sleigh like Santa 🤦🏼‍♀️

FinallyHere · 19/08/2022 21:17

My father kept one letter I sent to Santa in which I asked for a couple of sensible things and finished with 'and any thing else Santa just happens to have with him'.

Knittingnanny2 · 19/08/2022 21:20

One Christmas all one of my sons wanted was a silver crayon
He started mentioning it in October

Hoolahulahoop · 19/08/2022 21:23

Mine wanted red shoes. . easy enough and I was happy. Until Christmas Eve when he asked that the shoes are magic 🤣 they lit up. That did the trick

Spidey66 · 19/08/2022 21:25

My niece once asked for a roll of sellotape in a dispenser, and for her local library which was shut for repairs to be reopened.

One of my DC asked for an iPad. Was told no, so their second choice was a kinder egg.

Done.

Lol! We've had this too!

DS: "Can I have an iPad?"
Me: "No"
DS: "What about some Milky Bars?"

'A black unicorn with wings that can dance'

Ended up buying a black horse toy and sewing on some wings and the horn from another unicorn toy 😂

I used to ask for a pony every year. Never got it 😂

When I asked DD (4) what would she like for her upcoming birthday she told me "a colour changing doll, but not a doll, more like part animal part baby". I replied that I'm not sure I've seen one of those, so she said "don't worry I'll ask Santa instead" Confused lucky me!

Beansycheese · 19/08/2022 23:25

There was the year ds asked for a yo-yo. An easy ask, but there is no way a 4 year old will be able to do anything with it. The next year he asked for the world. Luckily after a bit of digging it turned out he wanted a globe 😅. Much more achievable

mossberry · 19/08/2022 23:34

3yr old dd wants a car for Christmas... A really big car... Bigger than Mammy's... In pink.

Also, a teddy bear... A really big teddy bear...

imnotthatkindofmum · 19/08/2022 23:40

My eldest at around 4 asked for butterfly socks 🤷🏻‍♀️when we went to visit father Xmas. I had no idea why! Luckily I got some in Asda 👍

Middle child that same year around 2 asked for a mouse 🤦🏽‍♀️ she didn't get a mouse, I took a gamble that at 2 she'd have forgotten!

Youngest last year aged just 8 asked for whipped cream (she means squirty cream) so I left a note on the mince pie plate to look in the fridge and tied a ribbon round it! It had been hidden at the back of the fridge for a couple of days prior to Xmas! I was so worried I'd forget about it! Funnily enough she brought it up today wondering if she might ask for it again 🤣

@quickbathroombreak could this be the part animal part baby?
