So, I posted on the new bargain thread and it worked really quickly. It would appear the site runs more slowly when I try to post on a longer thread, possibly because I have it set to load all the messages in a thread rather than in pages.

Yes, this is a universal problem and MNHQ want us to change our preferred method of viewing the site rather than them fixing it. 🙄

Morning!

Today is arse about face as DH has a 10k run thingy in town at 9.30. We were going to go and wave him over the finish line, but it's wild outside (no rain though) and it's not really hanging around weather, sadly.

When he's back I'm going to the allotment and if I'm back in time, we'll all go swimming this afternoon. If not, he'll take the kids.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 04/09/2022 07:36

Ha your day is very similar to ours fluffy! I am running this morning at 9 and DH is taking DS swimming this afternoon.

We are very boring and just have premium bonds winning go back into the pot to build up more savings.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2022 07:51

Congratulations on your win. Big one next! 💴💵💰

Morning! Excellent win dreaming.

Fluffy sounds yuck out there for you. It’s cloudy but still here. We’ve got to go food shopping.

Dd has woken up with an itchy lump on her back, when she told me I thought she’d been bitten but I can’t see a puncture mark and the swelling is about 2cm wide and looks pale (puss inside?) then is red all the way around. Very odd. Have got some fucidic acid cream I’ve put on it for now.

CrazyBaubles · 04/09/2022 09:18

Thanks for the reminder to book an appointment to give blood Fluffy

Congrats on your win Dreaming. Can I ask how long you’ve had your premium bonds? MIL has a theory that you only win in the first year….

Exciting about the extension Firefly - choosing how to decorate is the best bit!

I don’t know what the weather is as I haven’t got out of bed yet. We’re in a hotel in London after going to the Taylor Hawkins tribute gig yesterday. It was great but lasted 6 hours and we were standing (and got there early) so my feet are a bit tender!
Having a cuppa, then will get up and ready to go and have breakfast before doing the drive home.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2022 09:24

Ah, Crazy, how many times did you cry?! I heard it was emotional!

And yes, Firefly, now is the best bit of the build!

I have had them my whole life crazy, we’re a gift when I was born.

Wee bit more than a year then! 🤔🤣

It was quite emotional Fluffy, which is weird as I'm not an actual Foo Fighters fan. Taylor was my favourite when DH introduced me to them years ago though. and we've watched their documentary etc and he always just came across as a genuinely nice guy much nicer and better than Dave.

It's the only 'celebrity death' that my brain just won't process so I kept expecting him to appear - not helped when they brought out Rufus Taylor to drum as he looks very similar to a young Taylor!

I did get very teary towards the end - Taylor's son drummed to My Hero. He was so good and brave to do that I think.

Dreaming I'll tell MIL. I think she's just bitter because she won twice in the first year but nothing in the 5 or 6 years since 🙄

Wee bit more than a year then! 🤔🤣

Give or take 3 decades 😂

FireflyGirl · 04/09/2022 22:35

Can't believe we've only got tomorrow and then DS is back to school!

I've started buying presents - some for Christmas and some for DD's birthday next month. Yey.

Always seems closer when the kids go back!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2022 22:57

Have you not bought your DH anything, Firefly?!

Insane storm last night! I didn’t get out of bed but it lit up our room (and we have thick curtains) and the thunder just rumbled for ages.

Back to school and work today. Dreading it. Hopefully the dc will be ok.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2022 06:20

We were forecast storms but I didn't hear anything other than rain, sadly. The air needs clearing, so it would've been good!

I'm bribing DS to go to school as otherwise we'd have no chance!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 05/09/2022 07:40

Ds has swimming today which will be nice. Struggled to get him out of bed. Blue skies now.

CrazyBaubles · 05/09/2022 08:13

We have blue skies now but thunderstorms forecast for this evening.

The kids are back in DHs school today so he was quite happy going in.

I have the rare offer of overtime today which I'll take. It's boring but I'll be able to do it in front of the tv so will switch on something gentle and possibly festive to get me through the 2 or 3 hours.

CrazyBaubles · 05/09/2022 19:49

Thunderstorms are in now - we've been right in the middle for 15 mins so I sat in the conservatory watching the lightening through the room ⛈

Also, thanks to Fluffy for minding me - I booked to give blood next Friday.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2022 20:03

We're forecast storms from 10pm. It looks pretty ominous out there, so fingers crossed!

How is the overtime, Crazy?

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 05/09/2022 20:06

We have no storms predicted today. It's actually supposed to be lovely until tomorrow afternoon.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 05/09/2022 20:18

Torrential rain and lightening here, still so hot and muggy though

FireflyGirl · 05/09/2022 20:32

Torrential rain here last night as well, but hasn't stopped it being warm and muggy. Yuck!

Fluffy he is just going to buy his own present 🤷 My DP have given him Amazon vouchers and he's bought a stepladder!!

I start my new job tomorrow. I'm quite excited, have spent the day getting us all organised with bags/packing up/prepping tea.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/09/2022 20:34

We had a cracker of a storm in the early hours of the morning and there's more forecast for tomorrow afternoon.

This weekend we ate the very last of the Christmas turkey 😂 I froze it on the day after Boxing Day and thought it was time to make some room in the freezer.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2022 21:56

We're eating through the freezer, Woolly! Need to make room for things like mince pies and party food! Xmas Grin 🐷

Firefly, how old will he be? Sounds like our level of presents does that! 🤣 Well done on the new job; what specialism are you practising?

Our storm is apparently incoming (from your way, Dreaming!). Not here quite yet though.

CrazyBaubles · 05/09/2022 22:14

Oh dear. I've just read my last message back and there's some awful typing in it - sorry!

Overtime was fine Fluffy - it's from an admin dept where they're overloaded so it was basically 2 hours of data entry 🥱
Will likely do more throughout the week - I don't have the opportunity to earn extra often so will take it while it's on offer!

Good luck for tomorrow Firefly. Are you wfh / in the office or a mix of both?

We're starting to work our way through the freezers too. There's an awful lot of soup and cottage pie in there.
