Best and worst Orchard Toys games?

LittleRedYoshi · 10/08/2022 14:34

Usually get the kids an Orchard Toys game each for Christmas. For the most part, we really like them but there has been the odd dud (e.g. Rainbow Unicorns). Suggestions on what to go for or avoid, please? Kids are 5 and 3, but happy to take suggestions for when they're older too.

Games that we already have and like:

  • Shopping List
  • Cheeky Monkeys
  • Magic Maths
  • Pizza Pizza

Tummy ache is good

ColmanFlamingo · 10/08/2022 14:39

DS was obsessed with Spotty Dogs! 😂

AmberGer · 10/08/2022 14:44

My dc had loads when they were little. Over 15! IMO they're all pretty similar
Very good though

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/08/2022 14:46

I've never understood the love for these - DS always found them unappealing and I must say they were not much fun. Shopping list was the only one that got played more than a couple of times.

EmBeEmBe · 10/08/2022 14:48

Veg Patch Match and Tummy Ache are my faves!

MarthaMayWhovier · 10/08/2022 14:48

My favourites when I was a child were Shopping List and Scaredy Cat. DS likes The Post Box game.

Thesearmsofmine · 10/08/2022 14:49

Pigs in pants is fun and my dc liked Lucky Ducks.
I liked their puzzles too, really good sturdy pieces.

Wafflehouse · 10/08/2022 14:51

We have a couple of the mini games which still get played with, youngest is 8 now. Little Bug Bingo and Build a Beetle.

Bimblybomeyelash · 10/08/2022 14:52

Oh my god, shopping list game. I must have played that a million times. Mine have outgrown it now. I almost miss playing it! I agree that they are all pretty similar. We have also had fun playing ‘what a performance!’. They do need to be able to read for it though, so best for age 5+.

Minikievs · 10/08/2022 14:56

I LOVED the shopping list game!!!
Might actually see if I've still got it in the cupboard and play it with them tonight!
misses point of thread

Minikievs · 10/08/2022 14:57

We are (were) big fans of monkey bingo at that age too.
In fact I played it last week with my BF 16 yo daughter 😂
Think that was an M&S one but it's now stored in an ikea resealable plaggy bag so I can't remember

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 10/08/2022 14:58

Bus stop game & the Rocket mini game & Llamas in Pyjamas were favourites here along with What a Performance but as a pp said only once they can read.
The only one I wasn't keen on was the witches hat maths one. It's fine for kids to play together but pointless for an adult to play along.

LlamasSitOnPyjamas · 10/08/2022 14:59

Shopping list is definitely the favourite but the kids also like Crazy Chefs (which is pretty much he same Shopping list but with a bit extra. I enjoyed scared cat but kids didn't!

NoMoreAgeJokes · 10/08/2022 15:01

Spotty Dogs and Crazy Chefs were played a lot when DS was younger

Jules912 · 10/08/2022 15:01

Shopping list and crazy chefs are my DC's favourites.

NoMoreAgeJokes · 10/08/2022 15:03

Rocket Game was also played a lot

kindlyensure · 10/08/2022 15:03

Tummy Ache and Bus Stop are popular here. (Especially Tummy Ache).

(Shopping List is the winner though, for sure.)

kindlyensure · 10/08/2022 15:05

Oh, and for when they are a bit older, Pop to the Shops.

allthebikes · 10/08/2022 15:07

I can't help but wonder if threads like these have been started by a clever marketeer... if so, kudos to you.

Favouritefruits · 10/08/2022 15:29

Smelly welly’s is a good one but we aren’t keen on Magic Maths because the children can’t seem to make the numbers appear and after a while my fingers get sore from all the rubbing.

mrsfeatherbottom · 10/08/2022 15:33

We loved Monster Bingo and there are a couple of variations like using the dice to make it more interesting.

My DD loved the Gingerbread Man one too - Run, Run or something, I think it was called.

StarveInn · 10/08/2022 15:36

DS (5) likes Pigs in Pants, Giraffes in Scarves, Crazy Chefs, The Lunchbox Game

None of us are keen on Fill the Barn Lotto

123ZYX · 10/08/2022 15:38

DS liked:

  • crazy chefs
  • llamas in pyjamas
  • jungle dominoes
  • little bug bingo
  • catch and count

I hated bus stop

We like Pop to the Shops.

The bus stop one is weird, sometimes we end up with so many people on the bus we have to balance them on the top or some have to get off when there are none on? Also not keen on the one where you have to guess the weather?
