It's been sunny and windy all day here.

The washing is on the line and more in the machine, as the weather turns from tomorrow.

I sorted bits and bobs at the allotment, including digging the final leeks up and throwing my seed bombs on a newly-weeded area.

I've mown the lawn here and done some weeding as it's green bin day tomorrow. We've put a load of grass seed down, but it's old. If it doesn't take, I'll buy fresh and try again! DH killed the lawn by turning the trampoline over and leaving it for too long after the wind has dropped.

Wreck that homework sounds all kinds of annoying!

Very organised of you Why

We don't really do Easter here 70 so my plans aren't anywhere near as nice as yours - I'm out for a late boozy lunch and cocktails on Easter Saturday so will be hungover and going to dm's for a turkey dinner on Easter Sunday before spending bank holiday Monday recovering at home 😂

What seed bombs are they Fluffy - flowers I'm assuming?

I've not long got home. We had a lazy morning then went out for lunch. Had a little stroll through town and bought myself some presents (a heated propagator and cute thermometer for the garden).
I did start tidying the kitchen but got distracted and ended up organising some kitchen cupboards 🙄
Going to walk the dog soon then tackle the bathrooms, kitchen and hoover before showering and cross stitching for the evening.

WreckTangled · 03/04/2022 16:10

Oh shit we've forgotten about the homework! Ffs.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/04/2022 16:31

Easter Garden .....
Does it have to be any particular size ? Is it a paper flower type garden or real mud'n;plants ?

(I'm still recovering from the WW2 trenches homework DS - then DD a couple of years later- had to do ) Involved a lot of papier mache and compost in glue !

Easter Garden has to include some rabbits I reckon.

WreckTangled · 03/04/2022 16:33

Real soil with moss, grass, twigs, three crosses and a tomb Hmm plus maybe some flowers and a little path Confused

Takeitonthechin · 03/04/2022 16:45

Boots have a great sale on atm... not sure if this has been mentioned but I got 2 boss boxes of Mens aftershaves (3 in a box) for the price of 1 ... great stocking fillers for Christmas

Take a bloody photo of your garden with DS in it, print it and send it in.

Oh, and a daffodil. Daffodil

NoWordForFluffy · 03/04/2022 23:04

We don't do Easter beyond eggs really either. It's interesting to see what others do.

Crazy, the seed bombs are flowers, yes. Wilko didn't have the seed shaker I'd wanted from their website, so I went for these instead. It's just started to rain quite heavily, so they should dissolve well! Then it just needs to warm up again for germination.

Did you get your DS' homework done, Wreck?

Morning!

It's quite wet here, but meant to be dry until later on now. Hopefully time for our towels to get mostly-dry, as it's quite windy!

Last 5 days in work before time off. Whoop!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 04/04/2022 08:10

Nope. And he's got after school club today then tomorrow I have uni and don't get home until gone five so not sure how we will do it.

CrazyBaubles · 04/04/2022 17:07

Is there any chance your dd will help him Wreck?

It's been a strange day here. I got called in for emergency childcare as nephew was ill and non stop vomiting so I picked niece up from school and had her here for a few hours. Was chaos.

It was generally ok-ish weather wise earlier but it's turned freezing now. I was hoping to have a heating free day but no chance 🥶

Going to zoom around tidying up while waiting for my dad to come around. He's measuring up the utility room so we can get some cupboards in there to give me somewhere to hide the mess hopefully make it look neat and tidy as long as the costs aren't too bad🤞🏼

WreckTangled · 04/04/2022 18:11

I don't think it's something they can do independently really.

Boring day here. Ds wolfed down the chicken casserole and rice I made though. Dd ate it minus the rice, she had bread and butter as she doesn't like rice.

Morning, can't sleep (again) so I'm having a Brew
🤦‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2022 07:44

Morning!

I couldn't wake up today, so the opposite problem to you, Puss! 🙈

I'm now at my desk, but my eyes haven't focused yet!

It's a damp start here, though at least the forecast is now dry for today until this evening. It's set to get cold again in the latter part of the week. The joys! 🥶🥶

CrazyBaubles · 05/04/2022 08:04

Morning. Similar issue to you Fluffy - I struggled to get myself going this morning.

Looks grey outside but forecast has said it should brighten up and get to 13° this afternoon.

I have a growing veg question - can you 'over chit' your potatoes? I feel like mine are ready based on what I've read but I've been trying to put off starting them until the weekend.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2022 16:13

Unless they're very long indeed, I don't think you can over-chit too much. Mine have been chitting for months and are fine! Easter is the traditional time for spud planting. 😁

Grey here too. Not super-cold, but the house doesn't retain heat when it's grey outside.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 05/04/2022 16:40

Phew. Was worried I'd messed them up. I'm also going to start my chillis again (with fresh seeds) as I haven't kept them warm enough but I've got the propagator now so that's a job for the weekend.

I've bit the bullet and ordered the cupboards and stuff for the utility room today. Apparently being delivered Thurs 14th so I've booked my dad in for BH Monday to fit it all. Now I just have to hope I haven't messed up and ordered the wrong things!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2022 18:18

My chillies are popping through the compost now, thankfully. Hopefully the ones which haven't come up yet get a move on, so I can turn the heat off and leave the lamp on.

Exciting re the utility, Crazy! I'm sure you haven't ordered the wrong stuff.

I'm getting my mincemeat ingredients next week, to get that job over and done with! We got £20 in Nectar points each from converting Avios points (quite long-winded process signing up to two executive clubs and transferring points around!), which arrived this week, so I'm going to use half of them wisely! My favourite cooking chocolate is on offer next week too, so a stack of those are also heading my way.

It's not cheap making your own mincemeat, I have to say!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 05/04/2022 18:26

Fluffy I wish I had your confidence in my ordering skills trying to forget the palaver of me once buying a sofa that was too big to get in the house and my dad having to remove our living room window Blush

We do the opposite to you with points too - we convert nectar to Avios and use them on flights.

My Nan used to make her own mincemeat. Always made the kitchen smell lovely but I don't like most of the ingredients or the texture

Going to switch my heating on now. It's bloody freezing.
Homemade curry (made by FIL) for tea which should warm us up nicely too, then I'll be working on the cross stitch Christmas card 🎅🏻

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2022 18:41

We've had the heating on today. And the last few days. It's not warm right now!

I bloody love mincemeat. And this one is particularly nice! It makes our favourite mince pies.

I don't normally deal in Avios at all, but there were free Nectar points being offered, so DH and I jumped through the billion hoops to get them. Can't say no to £40 for free and they almost repaid the £45 I spent on wine the other week!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 05/04/2022 20:28

I've got a jar of mincemeat from October/November that's maturing for this year although it's only DH that eats mince pies.

Relatively busy (for me) days yesterday and today. I helped DD1 get her spare room sorted yesterday and cleaned her carpets and today I managed to get a load of laundry washed and dried, made two batches of pancakes for the freezer, did the food shop, took some stuff to a donation point and picked DH up from the station after his work trip to Edinburgh.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2022 20:40

We may still have some from 2021 in the cupboard. I'd need to hunt! 🤣

You've been busy. All I do is work and sleep, I think.

Morning!

It's rather breezy outside. The washing is out though, as it was the best chance to get it dry! It'll come in after breakfast as that's when it's going to rain (maybe, forecast doesn't seem entirely sure).

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 06/04/2022 11:30

Morning. Grey, cold and wet here - absolutely no chance of drying washing here.

So far today I've done some work, had 2 meetings, arranged a charity collection for some blinds (they're 2m wide so no chance of fitting them in my mini), have requested a quote from a company to collect garden waste that also won't fit in my car and cleaned the kitchen.
Am going to spend my lunch break tidying I think - I feel like I need to move around, plus I have a friend coming to stay next week overnight and my spare room is a mess.
