Am I a humbug?

I like to get them up, but hate doing it, and as soon as Christmas day has gone I am just itching to get them all down again as they drive me nuts!

Any one else like this?

How soon are you reaching for the boxes to get everything down and packed away into the loft?

Tomorrow, I can't stand them up after boxing day, it's all over people, take them down

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 26/12/2007 10:08

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 10:09

probably 12th night

KbearingUpUnderTheStrain · 26/12/2007 10:09

New Year's Day.

My real tree hasn't dropped at all yet, I'm amazed, usually all the pine needles are tinkling through the decs every time someone breathes near it!

foofi · 26/12/2007 10:09

6th Jan.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 26/12/2007 10:09

I've already taking the nativity scene down as there are too manyu small pieces. I'll take th Christmas tree down quite soon. It's only still up because dh's nieces are coming to stay tonight and they will like it.

heronsfly · 26/12/2007 10:21

12th night here as well, but not sure tree will last that long starting to drop already.

HappyChristmasWalrusIsOver · 26/12/2007 10:23

I go back to work on the 3rd Jn, so will probbly take them down on the 2nd

cant wait til I don;t hve to keep rearranging the sodding baubles after DS2 tries to eat them all

FlllightAttendant · 26/12/2007 10:26

Last night once the boys were asleep I'm afraid!!!
Probably a bit over-zealous tbh but it was an experiment this year, I usually leave tree till the last few days before, but then I always have the urge to throw out the clutter after Xmas so I got it up and pretty on the 1st December, it was lovely, dropped a lot, you know. Last night they went to sleep and I got it all back to normal. Tres cathartic imo!
Have now got space to enjoy the pressies properly. Nothing sadder than a tree after Christmas, just waiting to be thrown out! (Unless you still have festivities to do, of course!)

FlllightAttendant · 26/12/2007 10:27

...oh but we still have tinsel on the ceiling! I ddn't want to chuck everything yet

edam · 26/12/2007 10:27

Ooh, I really don't understand people who put the decorations up on the 1st of December and then can't wait to take them down. I wait until Christmas Eve when it is actually Christmas, not Advent, and then leave 'em up until 12th night.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 26/12/2007 10:29

I really like the decorations before Christmas, but I'm fed up with them today.

FlllightAttendant · 26/12/2007 10:29

I used to Edam. It is just the feeling of needing to get Christmas out of my system after the stress!!!

MariNativityPlay · 26/12/2007 10:33

I'm with edam and everyone else who says, this is the Second Day of Christmas! Ours only went up in their entirety on Christmas Eve, they are staying put until 12th Night

hippipotTEDCHRISTMASTREEami · 26/12/2007 10:37

On New Year's Eve. I really odn't like waking up on Jan 1st and have last year's decorations up. New Year new start - I tend to take the tree to recycling, take down decorations, give the house a dusting and hoovering and then treat myself to a nice bunch of flowers or pretty pot plant. It means I wake up in the new year and the house is 'refreshed' if that makes sense? And it puts me in a good mood for the next year

Theghostofchristmaspyjamas · 26/12/2007 10:40

Tomorrow

jinglebug · 26/12/2007 10:57

We decorated on the 12th this year (just checked with DH!), decided that I'm definitely going to take everything down on Saturday.
Glad to see some people think along the same lines as me
I do think that I ought to try and and do the 12 days before and after, but that just seems like an awful long time to have things around for.
I used to love Christmas when I was a bit younger, but since being a mum, I think a bit of the magic has gone from it all, just seems a bit of a chore really. Maybe when the children are slightly older and understand Christmas then the magic will come back

12th night. Mine go up late but stay up longer.

I'm with Edam - start celebrating a bit later and enjoy it for longer - the 1st December is waaaaaaaaaayyyy to soon. All you get is the stressful part and none of the relaxation.

DanJARMouse · 26/12/2007 11:20

tonight or tomorrow.

Im with whoever said, new year new start. Hate having all the stuff around into the new year.

My house will be blitzed on new years eve so i wake up to a clean house!

TenLordsaLapin · 26/12/2007 11:22

12th night.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 26/12/2007 11:23
