What do you buy early for this Xmas 2022

I used to buy so much sale stuff especially smellies when they went 75% off in Boots, this was when I used to buy for numerous friends teens who alwayd wanted Ted Baker toiletries etc. I now no longer buy for them.

Come this Xmas I only have to buy for our 4 dcs then who'll be nearly 3, 5, 10 and 17.

What do you buy early.

I did pick up some Thomas the tank books for 80p each x 4 for youngests stocking.
A bath bomb that could use for prob 3 baths as large for £1 for dd, she loves them.

But that's it. I want to be prepared and also have the 'omg I forgot I got that' feeling when I go in the loft to sort it maybe end of October.
If there's too much I'll keep for the Jan and March birthdays if needed.

Not seen any crackers anywhere yet.

Just remembered I did get some wrap in aldi for 49p

I used to be the same, now I tend to just get Christmas sticker/colouring books, Christmas snap, Christmas dot to dot and Christmas books in the sale.

HeyUpits2022 · 03/01/2022 17:55

I've bought wrapping paper, tags and a couple of cards.

Oh and DD's Christmas Jumper. Thought I'd hit ebay early and got a bargain Xmas Grin

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 03/01/2022 17:58

Anything I see that I know somebody will love.

MegaClutterSlut · 03/01/2022 19:27

I buy all year round and keep a spread sheet on my phone Blush have bought a few stocking fillers/small presents for next year already. I have a large family so like to spread the cost

Another spreadsheet devotee here. I've even added formulas so I can calculate my saving against RRP 😳

January buys tend to be stocking fillers, Xmas jumpers and cards.

1stTimeMama · 03/01/2022 19:53

@ThreeB, another spreadsheet lover here!

I've bought general cards, and 4 of the 6 'special' cards that I need. I'm hoping to get stocking fillers over the next few weeks so I don't need to worry about them closer to the time. They always generally have the same thing in them, so I can just stock up on the bits in the next size up, and things that will last.
Everything bargainous had gone by the time I got to the shops though!

foxgoosefinch · 04/01/2022 00:39

I’m trying not to stock up on things as I always do, and then always regret it when I have to store it all year! But it looks like lots of shops have sold out of sale stuff already and in any case the reductions weren’t massive.

greenweepingwillow · 04/01/2022 07:42

so far I have got-
almost all the stocking fillers (6 "DC" aged 23 -13)
advent calendars (we do picture ones!)
christmas pyjamas
wrapping paper
christmas cards
crackers

I have lists in my christmas planner, and stored in bags on top of our wardrobes or labeled bags in the loft.

I love not having to stress so much once ingets to Novemeber.

I have also got all dds bday gifats (bday Jan14th!) and afew other bdaygifts for others throughout the year that I spotted in the sale

Iseeyoulookingatme · 04/01/2022 07:54

So far I've got a couple of stocking fillers and ds Christmas pyjamas. I normally have a lot more by now but I've not been impressed with the online sales and I've been working long shifts over the last couple of weeks so haven't really had a chance to go to real shops and have a look like I normally do.

Do you all make your own spreadsheets or use prepared ones? Any recommendations?

Gazelda · 05/01/2022 10:27

I've got crackers and some hand made cards.

Velvet ribbons as I'm trying to use us my enormous stash of half used rolls of paper, gift tags etc. then switching to brown paper and velvet ribbons. It'll probably take me a few years yet before I've used up all the leftovers!
Christmas decorations as we're planning an extension this year and will need more decs to full the space.

purpledagger · 05/01/2022 11:22

I buy as much as I can, throughout the year, as I see it.

I've bought wrapping paper and crackers from sainsburys after Christmas.

I have also bought a few gifts for DNs and a few stocking fillers for my children.

This.

Ive also bought crackers and generic wrap that can be used for birthday pressies

PorkPieForStarters · 05/01/2022 12:22

Christmas cards and advent calendars in the sales, plus stamps for them throughout the year so there's no last minute, extortionate panic.

Not buying but I'm making loads of nice fabric drawstring bags for gifts to go in, that I can then reuse for future Christmasses/birthdays. Eventually it'll be more environmentally-friendly than buying paper and ribbon each year and it saves all that time and effort (and bad back!) wrapping.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 05/01/2022 12:34

I get like the Christmas activity sort of stuff...like colouring books, arts and crafty things, moulds for baking etc.
Will also buy crackers and daft things like santa hats or festive door mats

ThreeB · 06/01/2022 10:40

I make my own as I found I had far more control over it that way. It's not as pretty as some of the template ones but it does the trick
llansannan11 · 06/01/2022 19:20

Only cards and some stamps.

TruffleNoir · 06/01/2022 20:31

I've struggled to find any sale PJS, or crackers. Have I just been late to the party?

Matbest · 06/01/2022 20:35

I got the kids' Christmas jumpers in Sainsburys for 70% off!

Can't get gifts as no idea what they will be into by next year (mine are 3 and 5) but cards and wrap are a good shout. Also decorations, textiles, tableware if needed.

WrittenInGold · 06/01/2022 21:00

I have bought slipper socks for everyone from Peacocks, lovely fleece lined ones in different colours and designs, £3/£3.50 reduced from £7! So pleased.

guineapigs · 06/01/2022 21:50

I bought some posh crackers but I couldn't find any normal ones in Sainsburys. That's all I bought. I didn't really venture out to the shops.

ShowOfHands · 06/01/2022 21:55

I've bought some very nice crackers (£2 for 6 instead of £12) and a The Snowman duvet cover for DS (from John Lewis) which will be a Dec 1st present.

My turn to host next year so will spend some time throughout the year making some place settings and table decs. Oh and some new bunting to match the extension which should be done by then! I'm already keeping an eye out for fabric.
