What do you buy early for this Xmas 2022

I used to buy so much sale stuff especially smellies when they went 75% off in Boots, this was when I used to buy for numerous friends teens who alwayd wanted Ted Baker toiletries etc. I now no longer buy for them.

Come this Xmas I only have to buy for our 4 dcs then who'll be nearly 3, 5, 10 and 17.

What do you buy early.

I did pick up some Thomas the tank books for 80p each x 4 for youngests stocking.
A bath bomb that could use for prob 3 baths as large for £1 for dd, she loves them.

But that's it. I want to be prepared and also have the 'omg I forgot I got that' feeling when I go in the loft to sort it maybe end of October.
If there's too much I'll keep for the Jan and March birthdays if needed.

I've only online shopped for next christmas so far, there doesn't seem as much this year it the sales, Next was disappointing, had an early slot but didn't buy much at all.

So far I've bought:
Granddaughter (5):
*Next christmas outfit
*next panda oodie copy
*Next christmas button up pjs
*Next reindeer slipper boots

Adult dd for November birthday:
*Soap and glory ultimate bath set

Adult dd for christmas:
*Ted Baker ultimate bathing set
*Ted Baker acrylic box with make up bits
*lancome mascara set
Next fleece lounge top
Asda lounge leggings and sports bra

For my mum for her March birthday:
No7 restore gift set with rose quartz roller
Aldi exquisite choc box
Neom favorites box

I don't normally do boots sale, I just don't want to store gift sets for a year, but I have this year, mainly because daughter likes them and I didn't buy her any this christmas, she loves the Ted baker suff still. So I've just got slippers and chocs to buy for her now, we also buy a joint family gift for them, this christmas it was a coffee machine, we'll see closer to the time, it may be money. I've also bought quite a few M&S Harry Potter choc frogs for 16p which I'll be putting in Granddaughters easter box instead of an egg.

Mrsfussypants1 · 08/01/2022 10:56

Oh I've also bought my mums mother day gifts from Body shop sale, all pear scented and a mother's day gift box.

MrsEricBana · 08/01/2022 10:58

Apart from some lovely napkins for 20p nothing but I think it's an excellent idea to get cards, gift wrap etc even if not the actual gifts.

onedayoranother · 08/01/2022 16:07

I bought my sister her gifts already. Joules was having a good sale and I was able to get a few things that relate to her name.
I've also bought my daughter a couple things in the sale for her birthday.
I picked up a few decorations (like I really need more of those!), and some scented candles, though wondering now if they have a 'use by' date? Hopefully the scent will still be there next winter!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/01/2022 18:57

I've already got enough cards
If I see any nice wrapping paper I'll buy it to put away . I thought I had enough then I bought my DD a winter coat so of course I needed a roll of it . I panic bought some but it was rubbish quality .

I buy pyjamas and lounge wear for my adult DC , saw a lovely pair of soft dark green pyamas in Primark yesterday that I'll buy and put away .

If there's any nice Christmas crockery , usually I look in HomeSense/TKMaxx .

Inspiration hit and I brought two photo puzzles which were reduced to £7 for my dad and brother.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/01/2022 09:02

@MegaClutterSlut

I buy all year round and keep a spread sheet on my phone Blush have bought a few stocking fillers/small presents for next year already. I have a large family so like to spread the cost
I have found my people 😂😂
SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/01/2022 09:05

@sandgrown

Do you all make your own spreadsheets or use prepared ones? Any recommendations?
Depends how skilled you are at excel? I spend 90% of my working day creating formulae so I always do my own and colour code it like a true geek

But there are some good templates out there too.

coodawoodashooda · 09/01/2022 09:09

I like to have bought as much as I can by October.

Aderyn21 · 09/01/2022 09:16

I'd worry about buying presents in case people want different things nearer the time and also if the scents go off.
Are you all still feeling motivated to shop? I've found the sales to be dire this year and I didn't have the enthusiasm to hunt out the good stuff. Just feel really lethargic about it all and I used up really love Christmas!

elQuintoConyo · 09/01/2022 09:33

Nothing. I take January off. Then think about Xmas every Rudolph Day (25th of each month).

We've used fabric wrapping paper/gift bags for 5+ years now. I make around 10 cards a year for older generations or friends & family abroad.

We don't buy for many people (DS, one niece and godson of DH.).

Most of my friends are crafters, so we make things for each other. I start in September when schools go back.

No spreadsheets, just a note on my phone. It's very very chilled.

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 09/01/2022 09:47

I bought an artificial tree (habitat, half price in Argos) and a Xmas tablecloth (sainsburys) I used to get presents but now kids are older, within a year who knows what they'll want by Xmas Hmm

I usually get my mum and sisters Jan birthday presents in the sales though!

UsernameInTheTown · 03/03/2022 17:49

I have literally just started and finished my Christmas shopping 2022, for all but DD8.
Kuddly 'Oodies' are currently £59 for 2. Ordered 6 of them and that's DSis 1 and 2 plus their DP's and DM and DD (both mid 70s but love this years Kuddly and OODies.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 03/03/2022 17:52

Nothing. I can’t predict what my kids 6 and 3 will be into by then.

coodawoodashooda · 03/03/2022 17:53

Stocking fillers and Christmas pyjamas.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/03/2022 20:42

I bought some The Gruffalo wrapping paper for my DD presents ( she'll be 20 soon Xmas Grin ) after failing dismally last year ( I did look at paper in Sainsbiry but it wasn't very nice )

This year , if I see some I like , I;m having it !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/03/2022 18:45

Bought winter pyjamas for DD , reduced 50%
Put them away in my wardrobe . (Christmas Hiding Space )

Off the starting blocks Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 12/03/2022 13:08

I'm building up quite a collection of Minecraft Lego, particularly second hand retired sets which you need to get when you see them! I've also got some new ones too, as I had a £125 Amazon gift card for signing up to Vodafone broadband. DS is obsessed with it, so I know I'm fine to buy it (he also doesn't mind second hand, as he knows that can be the only way to get the retired sets he wants).

I haven't bought anything else yet. I found the sales disappointing.

Missmil · 14/03/2022 09:13

I like to buy everything throughout the year and i have an app on my phone called gift list. You can add all your family and friends in to it and gifts including price and mark it off as you go along at the end it works out what you've spent and what you've budgeted for its really been a god send for me throught the years!
I've nearly finished apart from dd age 2 who will be having a September birthday so not a clue what to get her. My dad and his parents, they tend to like foody presents a but its a little to early for that i tended to get them a cartmel sticky toffee hamper or jams ect but i feel ive bought them it a little to offend.im really trying to get birthdays and Christmas presents now as maternity leave is pending and mat pay isn't great.
Im now buying pjs, duvet covers and panto tickets the little extras to make it special and dh has actually given me ideas for birthday and Christmas, its a Christmas miracle 🤣

mdh2020 · 14/03/2022 09:35

I do advent calendars for DD and DS so I have already started buying bits and pieces that can go in them. It is easier to buy things when I see them otherwise the gifts can get a bit boring and samey.

Mrsfussypants1 · 14/03/2022 09:41

@UsermameInTheTown I'm doing the same, buying Kuddlys/Oodies too, I've just ordered 2 for £49 from Kuddly. With all the price increases and the sharp rises in heating bills coming up I figured they'd be a good practical gift, just another 3 to order. Dh insists he'd rather freeze than wear one, and DM loves her heated faux fur blanket and dressing gown so said she would rather have layers otherwise I'd have ordered more.

AreWeThereYetMummy · 14/03/2022 09:56

I am usually awful and stress for the whole of November. This year I am making a pledge to be better!

Onionbhajisandwich · 19/03/2022 18:39

I got the kids Christmas pyjamas and Christmas jumpers for this year in the January sale. I also picked up some slippers for their Christmas Eve boxes.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 23/03/2022 07:13

I got disposable foil trays for cooking Christmas Day roasties and veg from Home Bargains yesterday - 2 for 69p.

I couldn't find them for love or money last December so got 3 packs.

I need to write a reminder of where I've stored them thiug( as I WILL forget Grin

Wicca123 · 27/03/2022 14:03
