Selfishly crowdsourcing - need to buy some presents for my teens. Would love to know what presents were a hit with your teens?

Mine loved their oversized hoodies the most!

In fact anything Marvel related is a hit in this house. DD had a Wandavision pendant that she loves and they both enjoyed graphic novels and posters.
We missed out on the new Spider-Man movie that we had tickets for because DS got Covid so they had to get their fix somehow.

singlikenooneislistening · 27/12/2021 22:52

Record player has been a huge hit

30062015 · 27/12/2021 22:58

Sporty teen - Percussion personal massager - very pleased with the gift! He was given money too which he will use to buy a portable massager.

Art supplies and candy kitten sweets were a big hit for DD, along with a hooded, knitted jumper I got her from Gap.

Boogaloony · 28/12/2021 12:08

My 14 yo got a candle making kit and that was a huge thumbs up. My 18 yo son got Pokémon converse and b loved them.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 28/12/2021 12:33

Dd1 is 13 favourite gifts here were
Giant squishmallow from Aldi (makes a great pillow!)
Wireless over the ear headphones.
Five nights at freddys game for her playstation.
Art supplies and in particular the colours of the world pencils, perfect for her anime characters!
Games - we play lots of board games!
Big fleece blanket.
Bread maker!

spiderlight · 28/12/2021 20:29

His main present was quite niche - a stand for his racing wheel, pedals etc. so he doesn't have to have them all clamped to his desk (he's obsessed with sim racing games). Of his less niche presents, the biggest hits were:

Giant fleece hoodie
Geiger counter
Massive Ikea teddy-bear that he has coveted for years Hmm
F1 2022 t-shirt
Percy Pig slipper-socks
(he went out to see friends this afternoon and came back to find the bear wearing the t-shirt and the slippers, sitting at the wheel)

Bairnsmum05 · 28/12/2021 21:49

Nike Tech Fleece, LED lamp, Forty Tshirt, Greggs voucher.

plm456 · 28/12/2021 21:57

17 year old son - clothes, electric razor (for some reason he's rubbish at shaving with normal razors), sweets, new protein shake bottle, strange weight thing for the gym and Joe Marler's autobiography

15 year old son - laptop, naff jeans chain, portable speaker, sleep shorts, toiletries

lorisparkle · 28/12/2021 22:26

Govee LED lights where a big hit. As was a govee remote control lamp for one and a lava lamp for the other.

lorisparkle · 28/12/2021 22:27

Oh yes and a nutribullet type blender for them to share and the card game 'exploding kittens' to play as a family.

lorisparkle · 28/12/2021 22:32

They also had a boxing bag and gloves

The 13 year old is into vinyl and wants more records. I went into HMV and was transported back to my teenage years!!!

Karwomannghia · 28/12/2021 22:33

Dd 15 said she loved hers. It was clothes and bags she chose (likes ASOS urban outfitters) lots of beige sporty stuff
Salt lamp
Velvetiser
Weighted blanket
Silk pillow cases
Slippers
(Not all from me- I had to tell others what to get)

Ds 17
Really into vinyl so some records he chose
Clothes again urban outfitters
Candles
Non macho wash stuff

Both liked their nomination charm for bracelets given last year

steppemum · 28/12/2021 22:37

ds 18 mattress topper for his uni room, and a neo sign for the wall. addidas hoodie and cash. those all went down very well (along with chocolate and booze)

dd 16 - very niche and nerdy. A dinosaur T-shirt with her name on it (eg Katiesaurus) a book called Journal 29 which is an interactive puzzle solving book - she is really in to D&D so this is similar. Scented candles for her room. Fountain pen. Concert tickets (which were only £20, niche band!)

dd2 14 - oodie, chocolate, loads of gothy style earrings and rings, goth skirt, over the knee socks. Black nail varnish. Anything gothy really, which she can only wear in school holidays! main present was a body protector for riding, so quite expensive.

SFisnotsimple · 28/12/2021 22:44

Citric pineapple vodka for the 18 yo
Datery signature beautiful chocolate dates and super soft "Neapolitan ice cream" coloured ankle socks from Anthropologie for the 15 yo

SFisnotsimple · 28/12/2021 22:44

Not citric - Cirio

@RedskyThisNight

Threads like these always puzzle me as surely teens' are not a homogenous species and one person's favourite present might be a nightmare for someone else?

However, for the record DS's fave present was a coffee machine.
DD's fave present was very personal to her and unlikely to be helpful as a general present idea.

yes, but in November someone resurrected a similar thread from end of December last year. There were so many good ideas on it, and I bought about 6 presents purely on the basis that I saw things on there. 2 of them were the things dd really loved.
Karwomannghia · 28/12/2021 23:07

Me too, it’s where I got the massive hoodie idea and salt lamp, weighted blanket and velvetiser - things she didn’t know she wanted! She could only think of clothes.

Ds is not your typical ds though wanting Nike etc so I knew that wouldn’t help!

Londoncallingme · 29/12/2021 00:02

A few really lovely £££ designer pieces - she wasn’t very interested.
A glass pen thing with multi coloured inks, make your own macrame kit, astrology themed PJ’s - She LOVED them.
Clearly my daughter is a cheap date.

Teens are a nightmare to buy for as they are quite picky, often have jobs and buy what they really want or have had it previously. Thanks for the thread OP.
starfishofbethlehem · 29/12/2021 00:10

For mine it would be vouchers so he can choose games himself. (Vouchers rather than money so he can use them straight away). Also anything Doctor Who related although that's getting harder as he already has a lot of it!!

sofakingcool · 29/12/2021 00:11

DS1 (18) Hotel chocolat velvetiser

DS2 (13) personalised crisp bowl Grin
