Anyone else running away from this task?

I do not want to be the person that is spotted as a Santa imposter. Ruining Christmas when he's at the fab Christmas enjoying age...oh no ho ho ho 🎅🏻

DH is the favourite parent, I'm always the reserve but hell no am I running the risk of being the one who properly breaks his heart

We'd usually play rock paper scissors to settle disputes but nope put my foot down...wish him luck 🍀

Anyone similar?

I used to love waking up and feeling the weight of the stocking near my feet
My parents planned it well TBH, it always had a book, a new magazine, and a mini box of cereal I wasn't usually allowed. I realise now it was so I stayed in bed with the book Grin

Wannabegreenfingers · 24/12/2021 23:55

Single parent here. Waiting for mine to go to sleep. Every time I check one wakes up. Argh!!!!!

WhenwillIlearntoadult · 24/12/2021 23:58

It’s always my job and it’s so stressful! Some idiot (ie me) bought stockings with bells on. They’ve all had the same stocking since they were babies. Some years it’s been 3am before the mission was completed.
On year, DD stirred as it was happening but she just took the tinkling bells as proof that FC truly does exist 💖

AnnaSW1 · 24/12/2021 23:58

I'm planning to sneak off to bed in a minute and leave it to their dad!

festivesprinkles · 24/12/2021 23:58

Dds are camping out together and will probably trip over them if they get up to go to the loo at any point but I can't risk hanging them on the door. They are 14 and 13 so difficult to have new rules snout stockings plus they are both highly likely ASD and don't do well with change. Ds said he'll get up when he feels the stocking on his bed so it's on his door Grin my 82 year old mum was a good girl and went straight to sleep so I was able to place hers by her feet. We are so piling in on her in the morning 🤣

boomshakalacka · 25/12/2021 00:01

I've had 3 aborted attempts here and youngest DD has stirred every time. Just deciding how long to wait before I try again...

Tabbypawpaw · 25/12/2021 00:03

I just went in and my older one woke up and saw me. I managed to hold both stockings behind the door and said I was turning the heating down. Then sidled out with the stockings in front of me body. Just going to lay them outside the door!

KilmordenCastle · 25/12/2021 00:09

I just came up to bed with the intention of doing the stockings and 6yo is awake 🙄

No sleep for me yet then.

Me too. And now she’s panicking that Father Christmas won’t come because she’s awake….which is stopping her from sleeping. Argh.
Bunnycat101 · 25/12/2021 00:17

Still up waiting for 5yo to sleep. She’s already seen the Santa sacks as she can’t do what’s she’s told and stay in her room. Had to do a good bit of lying and have had a bit of a cry. Husband is snoring and being useless and she’s still twating about so debating staying up a bit more or setting an alarm which doesn’t fill me with joy.

doctorboo · 25/12/2021 00:29

I high fived myself for sorting all three stockings without getting caught, while also getting/giving calpol to my youngest at 11pm. Proper smugness before I went to bed. Usually I’m asleep by 9.30pm latest but held out so I didn’t get caught.

Obviously to bring me down a peg or 10, my 10 year old (with asd) woke up just before midnight and started opening his pressies!!

won’t complain to much as he’s closed his bedroom door so he doesn’t wake his brothers. He definitely didn’t agree with my suggestion of leaving it alone and going back to sleep.

HeckinMiffed · 25/12/2021 00:30

It is done. I managed to find every single squeaky floorboard and door in the bloody house.
If I said ssh to DH once I said it 10 times. Seriously fantasised about yeeting the twat thru the window when he's moaning at the dogs or just being his usual deliberate noisy self.
Argh!
Right, I've had my usual sob of 'its not enough' and 'our kids deserve better.'
Bed for me.
Good luck to those still waiting on kids falling asleep!

Merry Christmas to you all! 😁

Booklover3 · 25/12/2021 00:38

No. I don’t do that. Santa leaves them with the tree

Booklover3 · 25/12/2021 00:38

Besides that mine won’t go to sleep because they want to catch santa

GiraffeDancer · 25/12/2021 00:44

Mine don’t like the idea of Santa going into their rooms, but like to wake up to stockings, so they leave a note asking for him to leave them downstairs and mummy and daddy will bring them up! So we just make sure we’re in our nightwear, and everything os switched off, and if we get caught, well, then we just happened to hear a noise and checked downstairs, and found presents ready to bring up 😊. The stressful bit is the bringing it all downstairs to sort, in case one wakes up and comes down!

LunaLoveFood · 25/12/2021 00:47

Ds still wide awake. I just want to to sleep. Dh is downstairs sorting presents and I'm on guard duty waiting to fill stocking which is outside bedroom door.

I've already filled ds1 stocking but not put it out yet because as I was creeping across the landing a voice piped up asking where his stocking had gone.
I had to hastily explain that I had moved it because I didn't want father Christmas to wake him up. He asked me to put it back as he won't wake up, so I've just had to empty the stocking and don't it back empty.

I so wish we hadn't got hand printed personalised stocking so we could have 2 for each of them.

Bratnews · 25/12/2021 00:53

This is why Santa leaves the presents on the sofa!! No sneaking into rooms required.

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 25/12/2021 00:57

At my DM’s. DS went downstairs to look for me after we had already come up to bed, but DM was still up. Not sure if he has seen the Santa sack. DM was in the kitchen. He couldn’t sleep so I went and read to him for a while and he was really worried he wouldn’t fall asleep at all. So now I’m waiting up to leave his stocking outside his door.

Molehillfromamountain · 25/12/2021 01:05

Just sneaked up to do it and DD is awake Xmas Hmm now I can't go to bed and she'll probably wake us all up at 5am

Xmasfairy86 · 25/12/2021 01:24

Last year I put tic tacs in their stockings 🙈 that was a big mistake 🤣

And this year the stockings are too heavy to hang on the door handles so are casually strewn wherever we could get to in their rooms through fear!

MrPoppysParka · 25/12/2021 02:08

DD still isn’t asleep. Fml.

mummyof2boys30 · 25/12/2021 06:36

Managed to get it done after midnight. Then ds1 stocking fell, knocked santas glass bottle of coke down and spilt it everywhere 😂 give up and its sitting in front of their presents

Mittenmob · 25/12/2021 06:49

I have to do ours as DH is overweight and clumps about like an elephant managing to hit every possible thing he could.

PurBal · 25/12/2021 06:57

I always had mine at the end of the bed but DH was scared of FC coming into his room as a child. As such stockings go in the living room, I hadn’t realised what a blessing this was…

PurBal · 25/12/2021 06:59

I should say we had nylon stockings as children so they were never hung. FC use to keep the other one of the pair so he could fill one and swap. I kind of wish we’d continued this as they looked really exciting as massive snakes full of gifts.
