Sooo, no disrespect to HM, but with smaller numbers/less obligations who has found they are having a better or ‘easier’ Christmas than usual?
Just thinking of Kate who can wear her loungewear instead of formal gear, let Carol take over the kitchen (like only a mother can), Mike can help George assemble the Lego Death Star and the kids can ride their bikes all day… Wills can do piggybacks up and down the hall…
Anyone else having an easier time without the travel?

I'm sure Kate is enjoying being with her parents and siblings rather than her in laws as much as most people do, presuming the family gets on well.
What about William then? He presumably is going to have a rubbish time, given he has to spend christmas with his in-laws?

I didn't say she had an awful time with her in laws, just that most of us are more relaxed with our own parents than in laws, so regardless of who she or the in laws are, I'm sure she's happy to be "home" for this year.

A positive LFT a week ago took us from hosting 10 to being just me, DH, our 3 yo and our 10mo. I don't know whether it's less work now or not - no cooking a massive dinner, so easier in that way, but also no grandparents to play with the DC while I sit and chat and drink prosecco! I'd definitely rather have had our original plan, though.

Maybe, I myself was always just as relaxed and at home with my in-laws as I was with my own parents. Maybe I was lucky but I just don’t recognise this ‘in-laws are second best’ trope that seems to be wheeled out on mumsnet, either for myself or anyone I know. I’m sure there are things she loves and things that irritate her about her own parents and her in-laws. Having said that I’m guessing she doesn’t ever pull the Queen up on anything Grin

In the nicest possible way, why are you even thinking about what she is doing? I doubt she thinks about how others celebrate their Christmas (in the way I don’t think about others) so why even compare?

Nah, she's def wondering what a nearly 40 year old working class fat mom of three is doing. Consumed with the thoughts of it 😂

@SleepingStandingUp Thinking about the life she gave up to marry William!
