Help! There’s been a fuck up in the ‘list’ department..

Having carefully co- created my 7 year olds list, it seems I’d not disciphered the small text in the corner that was a request for 10 snakes!!! He relayed this over dinner tonight, how he can’t wait to see what Santa brings!! Shock 🐍
Too late to get plastic ones now so need to be creative. Had a chat about Santa not bringing live animals else caos in the sleigh but he says not true as bloody hobby kids or some such on YouTube got a kitten once! I’m thinking of something amusing like a printed poster saying “no snakes allowed” or “trade for snake in 2042” (when bloody thing won’t have to be in my house!
Anyone got a better idea?!

We have the IKEA snake, it’s huge for £10. Only good if you live near IKEA though 🤣, I’m sure you don’t want to be trekking around IKEA in Christmas Eve.

DisforDarkChocolate · 24/12/2021 11:06

I'd get sweets and adopt one. It'll be a lovely trip in the future to see his name on the sign at the enclosure. Or, find a one that does conservation in the wild.

How can Santa bring snakes? They would all need their own vivarium which need heat and light so electricity and, the snakes would be very scared as well.
Tell him not to believe everything he sees on YouTube and that Santa does not advocate live animals for Christmas as they are for life not just the holiday season.
Then, adopt a snake as above and print it out, pop in an envelope and job done!

Brainwave89 · 24/12/2021 11:18

Wow... some of you are so creative! Smile

Ssmiler · 24/12/2021 11:21

Re the child who got the kitten, tell him it must have been the parents who bought it and said it was from Santa just for fun - because you know for a fact that Santa definitely does not bring live animals - so you will be astounded if there are any in your house on Christmas morning!

Letter from FC - "sorry, there was one thing I couldn't read on your letter, so I've guessed at [something you want to give him] - if it's not right and you still want it next year, write a bit bigger as I'm getting on a bit!"

lesenfantsdelesperance · 24/12/2021 11:28

Sorry this is off topic, but what IS the title. Reginald Perrin?

BearSoFair · 24/12/2021 11:31

Looking at DS1's little scaley bastard friend that bit me at feeding time yesterday...I wonder if Santa runs a rehoming service? Grin

(Snakes do make surprisingly easy pets though if he's serious about wanting one at some point. This is only the second time DS's has bitten in 6/7 years and in all honesty it was probably my fault for moving my hand in front of his face when he could smell food. I was only helping at all because DS has a wrist in plaster at the moment!)

JanisMoplin · 24/12/2021 11:39

What a brilliant thread!

AmyDudley · 24/12/2021 11:51

Santa doesn't bring snakes because they can;t be transported in a sack and prefer to live outside anyway , but Santa has asked Mummy to arrange a visit to a snake sanctuary (or similar snakey place) in the new year. (assuming you have some kind of snakey place near you, they often let you handle the snakes which I'm sure he would love if he is a snake fan). You could make an 'IOU a snakey place visit' card and put it in a glittery envelope.

Thorilicious · 24/12/2021 12:04

@OhCobblers here's one I came up with...
How does Santa stay safe during covid?
By using santatiser...

I was wondering about that - shakes or snacks maybe?
NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/12/2021 12:21

It's wayyyyy too cold for real snakes in the sleigh and the Reindeer aren't that keen on them anyhow because they're afraid they might step on them. Same applies for lizards, reptiles, fish, spiders, axolotls, land snails and everything else that crawls, slithers and scurries.

Except stick insects. Santa doesn't bring them because they'd get lost in everybody else's' Christmas Trees whilst he delivered their presents.

Unihorn · 24/12/2021 12:30

@onedayoranother

Goodness the length people go through! Santa gave us one present and I remember once being disappointed- but not about him (I don't think I believed by then) - that I didn't get a toy fox I really really wanted. Of course now I realise my parents just couldn't afford it. I wouldn't do anything - maybe the gummy snake sweets, but frankly a wish list is just that - not a demand list.
As this thread proves though, there are many creative ways to fulfill a lot of children's wishes on Christmas (with the exception of Xbox etc) for not a great amount of effort. There's such a small period of time in our lives when we believe in magic and believe in anything being possible - I'm glad so many on this thread agree!

Yes I agree. Good lord just be honest and say hecant have 8 live snakes 🤔
Crinkle77 · 24/12/2021 12:45

Any other creative ways of trying to fulfil his wish will just be disappointing.

Bellsandsnow · 24/12/2021 12:47

This is so cute! 😍

Genghis, one of my corn snakes, would like to say Happy Christmas 🎄 - will that help?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 24/12/2021 13:56

Live animals are not presents? An opportunity to explain the dignity and freedom of animals - Santa has changed the rules and animals won't be given as gifts any more. I expect that kitten was really from mummy and daddy not santa.

RhubarbCustardy · 24/12/2021 14:00

Do Hobbycraft have anything? Obs don't know if you're near one.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 24/12/2021 14:00

Tell him Santa doesn't bring snakes as they bite. Take it from me as my snake bit me the other week when she mistook my arm for the cold mouse I was offering her Grin

BasiliskStare · 24/12/2021 14:31

Oh good ness I made a mistake there my plastic snake was over half a century ago - not a decade Blush
