Help! There’s been a fuck up in the ‘list’ department..

Having carefully co- created my 7 year olds list, it seems I’d not disciphered the small text in the corner that was a request for 10 snakes!!! He relayed this over dinner tonight, how he can’t wait to see what Santa brings!! Shock 🐍
Too late to get plastic ones now so need to be creative. Had a chat about Santa not bringing live animals else caos in the sleigh but he says not true as bloody hobby kids or some such on YouTube got a kitten once! I’m thinking of something amusing like a printed poster saying “no snakes allowed” or “trade for snake in 2042” (when bloody thing won’t have to be in my house!
Anyone got a better idea?!

Love all the suggestions on here. And love the randomness of children's Christmas wishes!Xmas Smile

Santander and the reindeer are magic.

Only magic animals are protected.

Magic animals can only live at the northern Pole though as require extreme cold to maintain magic

Santander! Xmas Grin imagining Ant and Dec on the sleigh tonight

It's my kids favourite joke.

Where does father Christmas bank?

Santander

AnnaSW1 · 24/12/2021 10:06

I was going to suggest the M&S sweet ones too

Helpstopthepain · 24/12/2021 10:09

Get him snakes and ladders

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/12/2021 10:14

Jelly snakes. Most shops sell them.

Meatshake · 24/12/2021 10:17

Jelly snakes, Santa doesn't do animals cos they poo in his sleigh. Reindeer are magic so they shit sparkles and piss Bailey's Wink

HoneyItAlreadyDid · 24/12/2021 10:21

If you have some wool and google eyes at home you could finger knit snakes like these. Finger knitting is really easy and quite therapeutic.

I say this as someone who spent last night drafting and sewing felt mario toys… I thought I knew what DS wanted so we were late doing Santa letters and it turns out he doesn’t care about getting a tablet and instead wants “Mario kart throwing things.”

I thought he didn't do live animals as it was too difficult for the elves to keep them warm at the North Pole? Not to mention not good for them to be stuffed in a humongous sackWink
insancerre · 24/12/2021 10:23

I love the idea of a stocking with a hole from which all the snakes have escaped
You could then hide 10 jelly snakes around the house for him to find

CommanderBurnham · 24/12/2021 10:28

I feel your pain OP. Mine added about 4 items to his list ok Wednesday. Thank goodness for Amazon.

bizboz · 24/12/2021 10:31

I'm going to be the thread Grinch but I would just leave it at saying Santa can't bring snakes (in case they bite Rudolph or something) and not get them! My kids put some totally impractical stuff on their lists every year and don't get it. Same with gifts they add at the last minute. If he's expecting 10 live snakes some jelly worms might just be a disappointment.

Grimchmas · 24/12/2021 10:46

Santa definitely doesn't bring live animals, and the kid on you tube was faking it (insert teachable moment about not everything on the Internet is true).

Besides, snakes don't have a fur coat, so they would get too cold riding on the sleigh.

SoupDragon · 24/12/2021 10:47

You have to admire the deviousness of hiding the snakes within the picture of a scooter 😂

CheesecakeAddict · 24/12/2021 10:49

Santa only brings stuff the elves can make in his toyshop. You can't make snakes out of synthetic materials, ergo, no live snakes.

MGMidget · 24/12/2021 10:50

How about a letter from santa (in unfamiliar writing) explaining that he can’t deliver live animals but has delivered another surprise present instead? I have a similar problem with my DD who put ‘puppy’ on her list for Santa and has been asking me to promise we will keep it if Santa delivers one! I have been telling her that Santa doesn’t deliver live animals and giving her a list of reasons!

Bagamoyo1 · 24/12/2021 10:56

Does he actually want a pet snake and are you happy for him to have one? Because if you are then it’s easy - you just set about doing it after Christmas - reading up on what’s needed etc. In the meantime you make a chocolate snake or something, and on Christmas morning you plan your future shopping trip .
If you’re not getting him a pet snake then it’s a bit harder... but you have to explain why. My kids always want a dog. Never going to happen.

Tinylittlecabbages · 24/12/2021 10:57

Santa doesn't bring pets, they wouldn't survive the journey. Thankfully we have evidence of this from when Santa bought sea monkeys and they failed to thrive

thetinsoldier · 24/12/2021 10:58

A voucher for a day at your local zoo or snake sanctuary? A book on snakes? Jelly snakes?

Lovemusic33 · 24/12/2021 11:00

I would just buy jelly snakes for his stocking.

My dd got a real snake for Christmas 🙂 but we don’t do Santa anymore, Santa doesn’t bring real snakes.

Salahdor · 24/12/2021 11:01

Ikea does an amazing snake puppet for £10. Maybe you could order online and then print photo in a card and say the reindeers didn’t want him in the sleigh but he’s slowly slithering to your house and should be there for new year.

@Crafting1Queen

Hi Op, You can get these jelly snake sweets; The Natural Confectionary Co, in most shops, Co-Op, McColls, Asda, Morrisons, local Spar/Corner shops, some Petrol Stations etc, and they are only about a pound. They actually taste quite nice, look like a wee snake and aren't crammed full of sugar etc (I buy them for myself - no children). I've attached a link (I hope) so you can see the packet, but think the link shows maybe buying a whole box from Amazon, so don't pass out when you see the price lol.

Good Luck, I hope whatever you are able to get your wee one loves it, and will probably remember the year Santa did indeed bring him the 10 snakes he asked for Grin

I got these in Sainburys yesterday !
