Why does my central heating have this tendency to break down for Christmas!!!!

I am so mad. Central heating boiler died last night and the bugger is only two years old.

It replaced our old boiler which was known as Jezebel, such was its perfidy. It broke down every winter without fail, once on Christmas Day afternoon .

And now the fecking replacement is doing the same thing!

What have I done to deserve this!!!!

And my poor kids - weather forecast suggests it could get down as low as -3 in London overnight tonight...

mine goes wrong every year, what's wrong with yours?

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 20/12/2007 11:43

We have got two fan heaters and one oil-filled radiator which I have put in DS3's room although when I went in this morning he was beautifully tucked up under his duvet .

Our lovely plumber (veteran of previous Boiler Wars) is meant to be coming tomorrow so fingers crossed he will be able to get it going again. So I know it could be worse. Just wanted a moan about it really, y'know how it is!

On the plus side, had good meeting with SENCo, nursery teacher, specialist autims teacher and LSA about DS3's start in nursery on 11 January. They will have a little workstation set up for him and everything. My baby, going to school!

sea, I don't know, the pilot light won't light, but lovely Plumber Man says it might be because fan is not working properly.

DS3 is 3 yrs 5 months now FioFio . I love the thought of him having a "workstation"! I hope he keeps it tidier than I keep mine!

And all the other mummies are leching after his LSA, lol!

this is just an idea but if its that new could it just need re-pressurising ? If the dial has gone below 1 then you have to let a bit of water in via the little tap thing . It is something the householder can safely do themselves ,it will be covered in the instruction book.

I hate to think of anyone being without heating tonight brrr

fortyplus · 20/12/2007 16:20

Oh K-e-r-r-y-... I'm on Scrabulous...

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 20/12/2007 16:22

I don't think it's that kind of boiler - I know what you mean though as I had one like that in a previous flat.

Sadly, without heating we shall be but I'm going to go home soon and light the fire .

Am I the only one thinking Kerry has had a bad year?

My boiler loses pressure rapidle and has to be re-filled every other day atm

repair man can't find a leak anywhere

and it's only 18 months old.

fortyplus · 20/12/2007 18:05

Poor little boiler repair man being subjected to Kerry's wrath...

I reckon your council just isn't as good as where I work [preen]

I'd be CROSS!

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 21/12/2007 14:04

UPDATE - plumber came but couldn't fix it .

Someone from Worcester (the boiler-makers, not the place) is supposed to be coming round tomorrow (Sat) with a new circuitboard for it. I will believe that when I see it .

So it's looking like a cold cold Christmas for the Dinosaurs! Lucky I ordered two bags of logs last week. The kids' Brio railway should make a good blaze too, what?

Can't I have some sympathy, then?

Dino, that is terrible!

We have a spare oil-filled plug-in radiator, do you want me to bring it round?
