URGENT! Anyone near Bromley able to spread Christmas cheer and help me get this gift for my ten year old?

My ten year old has been very difficult about Christmas and has said several times there is nothing she wants for Christmas. She has spent a lot of time looking for ideas but found nothing.

She has just bounced in super excited and said she can't wait for Christmas as she won't feel so cold if she gets the hot water bottle she has asked for...

About a month ago she mentioned she quite liked this hot water bottle in M&S www.marksandspencer.com/harry-potter-hedwig-hot-water-bottle/p/clp60516055 I asked at the time is that something you'd like for Christmas and she was non-committal. I've realised now that's because she wanted an element of surprise.

I've fessed up and told her I didn't get it for her and as she didn't do a list for Santa he won't have got it either (pretty sure she doesn't believe but plays along for her younger sibling). I can see the disappointment all over her face and she has quietly gone off to watch a Harry Potter film.

It's out of stock everywhere, but Bromley (and I've been through tons and tons of stores). Is there anyone local who would buy it and send it to me Royal Mail Special Delivery? I will of course cover all costs by BACS transfer or PayPal (friends and family).

I'm desperate to get it for her. Typically she hasn't made it easy!

So happy you got it! Good luck with sorting out SEN help. I have an autistic boy so can relate. Your DD sounds sweet - hope she loves her present!

I just had o connors from tesco and couldn't tell the difference

HibiscusIsland · 22/12/2021 00:07

Sorry no idea how that happened. Will report

Helendee · 22/12/2021 00:13

So happy you are sorted. One of my granddaughters has mild autism ( sorry I’m not sure of the correct terminology) and reacts like this to disappointment. So happy for you both. 😍

@wejammin @msjaneausten thank you for sharing those coping strategies as I definitely will take those onboard. This is all still a learning process for us as a family finding out how to best manage things but your suggestions and experiences sound like they would work well for DD.

Thanks all!

@SwtPeasOnEarth

I agree with the PP who said next year's M&S Christmas advert needs to be based on *@WhatAboutDessert* thread! I'm on the West coast of the US and have been following and hoping the hedwig hot water bottle would turn into a Christmas miracle...and thanks to all the lovely people on Mumsnet, it has!

@SunshineCake1 I'm also thrilled you've found DH...have you told him yet that half the world of Mumsnetters have been concerned about his where abouts?Xmas Grin😂

I did and he was suitably sorry. I didn't take advantage at all Grin.
SwtPeasOnEarth · 23/12/2021 19:16

@SunshineCake1
He sounds a keeper!
@WhatAboutDessert
Awww, what a happy Christmas miracle! M&S, did you see this?

SwtPeasOnEarth · 23/12/2021 19:28

BTW, the Daily Mail, etc just loves to paint all Mumsnetters with the same brush as mean ole hags...this may put people off from using the mumsnet site and missing out on all the lovely people who offer kind words, support, last minute shopping trips, child-raising tips, recipes etc... @WhatAboutDessert 's thread has shown that mumsnet is a fantastic support for just about everyone...I want to make it clear ..I am in no way affiliated with Mumsnet other than a grateful reader. I would like to suggest that if you feel so inclined that you go on Trust Pilot and give the MNHQ group a thoughtful Christmas gift of a 5 star review..they work so hard to balance this site whilst allowing posters to voice their opinions..all they ask is that the posting guidelines be followed.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
