Every year I bake for the guys at work, so this year I’m baking
Vanilla cupcakes
Coffee cupcakes
Lemon drizzle and
I’m making Christmas peppermint bark
I’ve also had orders off of my uncle and his neighbour for lemon drizzle
So now I have to make 5....
I got away with it as my Nan made the drizzle ( her recipe) but when she died 3 years ago they asked me as I’m quite good at baking so now every year I’m making lemon drizzle cake 😂

What are you guys baking?

notlisteningwithmother · 20/12/2021 00:31

I've got some time off work, DCs are off school, and there are things that we always make at Christmas
Mince pies
Yule log
Gingerbread house
Cinnamon buns and / or stollen
Christmas pudding is made, but I'm making sticky toffee pudding as an alternative. Or possibly for new year.

prettyisall · 20/12/2021 09:20

Jane's patisserie- NYC gingerbread and white chocolate cookies 🤤

Nutella Christmas tree (with kids)

Then I might make some cinnamon buns too.

AledsiPad · 20/12/2021 09:23

Not much as I just don’t have the will this year, despite being an avid baker a few years ago. Something about lockdown killed my joy for it.

We will make mince pies at some point this week, and today we are making gingerbread cookies. We made a house last year and it was brilliant (shameless boast) so I feel like I’ve peaked and don’t want to let myself down by trying to better, or match, it! Grin

YorkieTheRabbit · 20/12/2021 09:31

I’ve just done a marble chocolate Bundt cake
Going to do mince shortbread
Mince pies
Nutella Christmas tree
Lemon drizzle cake

Angel2702 · 20/12/2021 09:35

Mince pies and peppermint bark. We always made gingerbread but they always turned out revolting so we’ve knocked that tradition on the head. Want to do peppermint creams but for some reason have struggled to get the peppermint oil.

DrunkenKoala · 20/12/2021 09:46

I normally only bake Christmas cake and mince pies. I baked the Christmas cake back at end of Oct and going to decorate it this week. I baked the mince pies on Saturday.
We currently have covid in the house so DD and I baked chocolate cupcakes yesterday. I’ll probably bake a banana loaf and a coffee and walnut loaf as well today or tomorrow.

languagelover96 · 20/12/2021 11:07

Cupcakes
Mince pies

Ruibies · 20/12/2021 11:11

Chocolate Orange Yule Log for the fam
Biscoff Blondies for little brother
Coconut Macaroons for big brother
My mum's doing the Christmas Cake

When I wasn't working from home I used to make a stollen for the office. Haven't made one for ages or even bought one this year - must sort that out asap!

Inextremis · 20/12/2021 11:19

I've done the Christmas cake, some mincemeat frangipani things, lebkuchen, daily bread and - it seems - daily shortbread biscuits since DH is off work and addicted to them. Also have to make proper mince pies, and gingerbread.

livingthegoodlife · 20/12/2021 11:39

Done Christmas cake
Mince pies
Gingerbread house (pre made, kids to decorate)
White choc & cranberry cookies
Yule log - not done before do should be fun
Does trifle count as baking?
Fruit pavlova

YorkieTheRabbit · 20/12/2021 14:18

DP has asked me to make red velvet cake instead of lemon drizzle Xmas Smile

Teaandscone · 20/12/2021 19:31

Meringues, chocolate and coffee profiteroles, quiche, currant biscuits flavoured with lemon zest and perhaps a gingerbread cake.

FlickyCrumble · 20/12/2021 20:27

I’ve already made and eaten 1 large Christmas cake so I’ve baked another. We’ve made 2 lots of gingerbread and plan to make a third lot into a gingerbread mansion tomorrow. I’ve also done Christmas peanut cookies, banana bread and flapjack cookies.

Beachhuts90 · 20/12/2021 23:56

Gingerbread people only I think. Maybe something else, although I'm going to have a cake delivered this year.

Usually I'd be baking a lot and giving as gifts (the in laws usually have requests), but we have covid and it doesn't seem like a good idea, and I don't really have the energy anyway. Maybe next year won't be so shit.

TheSandgroper · 21/12/2021 00:15

Trifle from scratch.
Slow cooker 3 ingredient Christmas cake.
Chocolate cake.
Steamed syrup pudding (42 degrees forecast)
Nutmeg cake.
Pan forte.

All still to do.

Geamhradh · 21/12/2021 06:50

Done Christmas cake (Delia)
Done own mincemeat (Mary Berry,) and two batches of mince pies so far.
Will do:
Pistachio and parmesan sables (Delia)
Yule log
Nigella's vanilla Bundt cake
Nigella's rocky road
More biscuity bits and pieces from Nigella, Delia and Angelica Dunk (my new Christmas book this year)

@Ruibies have you a recipe for chocolate orange Yule log? Sounds good!

Gingerbread (Delia) is done in my house about once a month as it's dd's favourite.

greenweepingwillow · 21/12/2021 06:57

have already done 2 batches of mince pies, (doing more today),
peanut butter cookies, the Christmas cake and fudge
still to do:
spiced christmas biscuits
white choc and cranberry cookies
florentines
cinnamon buns

last day at work today, so will be in baking mode from tomorrow!

Lovelemondrizzlecake · 21/12/2021 07:12

Mince pies
Gingerbread people
Iced Christmas biscuits
Trifle (daughter really keen to do this )

alwayswrighty · 21/12/2021 07:20

This is the first year I've started baking so I'm doing a chocolate tree stump.

Curlyshabtree · 21/12/2021 07:32

Mince pies, made my own mincemeat, very easy. Will do a batch of vegan ones too. Christmas cake just needs to be iced. Will make a ginger cake as well.

Natsku · 21/12/2021 07:42

Gingerbread house (done)
Baking more gingerbread today
Might make Christmas korvapuusti (basically gingerbread and pulla - sweet bread dough - rolled up together like cinnamon buns. Its amazing.)
I have a spiced buttermilk cake in the freezer that I might use in a trifle.
Going to do something with puff pastry and baking custard.
And I've made Viennese truffles for presents, original ones and chocolate orange ones.

TheFairyCaravan · 21/12/2021 08:04

I’ve done a Christmas cake for us, one for DS2 and a mini one that I sent to DS1 who is deployed for Christmas.
I’ve already done 72 mince pies with a pecan and crumble topping. We’ve eaten 24, DS2 took 24 home with him and 24 are in the freezer. I’m doing mince pies today and shortbread tomorrow. DS2 is coming on 28th, because he’s working Christmas Day, so I’m making lemon drizzle cup cakes which he’s requested as his birthday cakes for his birthday on Christmas Eve.
