Trying to meal plan as doing the dreaded shop tomorrow. Apart from Xmas day and Boxing Day I need some ideas. So bored with what we normally eat.

No idea so following as I'm also trying to meal plan for a shopping trip tomorrow

IcedAbstinente · 19/12/2021 17:02

TBH I had forgotten about the need to eat thing! i have only just dcided on our Christmas menu!

Tonight we are having soup and cheese rolls.

I expect spagetti bolognese will be on the agenda.

definitely chicken at some point- maybe chicken in honey mustard cream sauce.

Agadorsparticus · 19/12/2021 17:07

I'm emptying the freezer. My meal plans are:
chicken and veg bake
Sausage pasta
Toad in hole
Pulled pork and coleslaw barms
Chilli and gnocchi
Swedish vegan meatballs, mash and sauce

Agadorsparticus · 19/12/2021 17:10

My slow cooker will do the chilli, sausage pasta and pulled pork. I'm aiming for low effort cooking that all the family will eat.
The fewer arguments the better this week. I'll do some veg soup for lunches.

lonsdaleshorts · 19/12/2021 17:12

Pasta bake tonight.

Chicken and veg tomorrow, chicken and ham pie on Tuesday, Wednesday is chili and Thursday pizza. Friday will be something from M&S when I stop in to pick up the food order for Christmas and Boxing Days.

Monday next week, I’ll make a big stew so that will do Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday are yet to be sorted as it will depend on any restrictions in place as we do have plans to eat out. I think however that I will pick up some ready meals from Marks and Spencer and put them in the freezer. I don’t want to be stressing about having food in.

Hogmanay will be a curry.

We are Scottish so New Year’s is Steak Pie!

Breakfasts will be the usual porridge or eggs.

Lunch will be a combination of soup, sandwiches, cheese and biscuits.

crazyjinglist · 19/12/2021 17:13

Normal weekday dinners (chicken burritos, dhal and naans, pork steaks in cider and new potatoes, pizza). Then we're away staying with family from 24th to 27th. Then a couple of days of healthy soups and stuff to recover, followed by hosting more family from 30th to 2nd. NYE will be roast fore-rib of beef and and all the trimmings. Haven't decided on rest of meals yet!

I have filled the freezer with easy to cook stuff to be honest so can relax a bit whilst off work rather than having to get fresh stuff every few days. Also having some of our favourite foods as normally eat a very balanced diet and spend a fair amount of time being active so want to have some carefree meals before reality hits again in January!

Fajitas
Chicken and chorizo mac and cheese
Chinese fake away (Chicken and brocoli in black bean sauce with rice and duck spring rolls)
Christmas Dinner- curry with leftovers
Chicken wraps with chops
Chicken breast in panko breadcrumb burgers
Buffet type stuff, and of course a cheese board!

Guinea fowl and turkey crown at some point in the festivities, but no idea when. Life is really variable at the mo.

TorySteller · 19/12/2021 21:50

Over the next week or so I’ll be doing a lasagne, some sort of hearty meat pie, and a tarragon chicken recipe I’ve discovered just for a bit of a change.

delilahbucket · 19/12/2021 21:56

Bought in lots of party foods, cheeses, pates and salad stuff for picky lunches and teas, one of which was this evening. Also got salmon fajitas, sticky lime chicken thighs and pasta and meatballs that are in the freezer (to continue clearing it out!). We've got a meal out on Christmas Eve.

onedayoranother · 19/12/2021 21:59

Tonight my daughter made chilli. Tomorrow I'm making Jamie Oliver's hit and run chicken (quadruple the oil, vinegar and paprika), Monday will be ... nope don't plan that far ahead but we are trying out meat free Mondays so will have to think. Chicken Kiev probably later in the week - just the usual stuff we eat every week. I have ordered a luxury fish pie for Christmas Eve but the reaction of my kids leads me to believe it will be takeaway which suits me fine!

Fredstheteds · 19/12/2021 22:00

Everyone needs to try that 😋. I don't really have time to faff about battering chicken so I buy battered nuggets bake them and cut them in half then fry in the sauce 🤭. But it's just a great recipe never a disappointment.

Weds - fish & chips
