DH has talked me into getting a joint of gammon for Christmas lunch ...

What do I do with it? We already have a large chicken (no one is that keen on turkey), but I can't see how gammon "goes" with all the other stuff, particularly gravy!

Any tips/suggestions most welcome.

Do it early then a little Xmas day with the bird and fixings and save the rest for the cold cuts days ( frankly the best meals of Xmas are the cold cuts ones )
For a roast on it’s own - a white sauce with shallots and sage is nice.

Another one for cooking it in coke, needs to be full fat coke. My god it’s lovely. I can’t eat it any other way now!

DH and DD like it with pork gravy but they are gravy fans so not sure if that's the norm.

Once in a while we have a gammon joint instead of a pork loin or chicken for a weekend roast and just do the normal roast potatoes and roast vegetable. I like Broccoli with mine though as well.

Peas and pineapple is more gammon steak pub food for me, not a roast side.

Update: I used a Hairy Bikers' recipe, boiled then skin removed, scored and roasted.

Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and I'm benefitting from sandwiches made with the leftovers today.

Still doesn't go with gravy though IMO Grin
