Fuck. Having utterly, predictably, run out of time to do everything I now have 2 days till we leave to go visit my family and the ILs (not back home till 2022) and I've totally lost track of who I've bought presents for, what I got and where I stashed them!

I know I need to get some more. Still need to do all the stocking fillers for the DC and haven't got anything - or any ideas - for some key family members - unless I bought something for them, hid it and forgot (very possible).

Also need to design and send a picture calendar of the DC to relatives who expect it, finish about a week's work in a day plus wash and pack all our clothes with the dryer on the blink.

But it's all doable, right?!!

How's your planning going?

Anyone fancy a Gin?!

Hi I have used this for a few years now

www.mumsoffice.co.uk/products/mums-christmas-book

It means all the info is in 1 place, I can see what happened other years.

And there's a lovely bit to write down what went on over Christmas. Nice to look back on.

GrrrlPwr · 21/12/2021 14:08

I gave up on Christmas cards. It's just too much. And I just stopped even thinking about DH family presents etc. His family he can sort them. He doesn't do it? His problem. Harsh. But he doesn't think about my family, so why should I think about his?

GrrrlPwr · 21/12/2021 14:09

And I have wrapped zero presents.
But will NOT leave it till Christmas Eve. Been there, done that. Not going there again

Mumwithbaggage · 21/12/2021 19:36

Christmas cake is just out of the oven (yes I know everyone else has been feeding theirs for months) and dh dispatched to Tesco with a list. Managed to get present shopping started and pretty much finished today and planned all holiday food. AND cleaned out the fridge. Plus I even managed a coffee out.

When I'm on it, I'm like a crazy woman!! Pity I'm not on it all the time...

coffeetofunction · 21/12/2021 19:41

ADHD madness and covid happening here!! I often buy shit and lose it, drives my DH (only one without the ADHD) mad.

Forget cards, tell DC it's unsafe re covid...

Photo books always late, just pour some wine make it up and forget about it.

Stocking fillers- £10 each from pound shop

Anything else order via prime, send as a gift and include a message saying merry ADHD Christmas- least you got a gift.

And next year use an app to list the gifts

@Alayalaya

I haven’t sent anyone a Christmas card. It’s very rude isn’t it? I always do it at the start of December but this year I had a bereavement at that time and I didn’t feel able to write the cards without this persons name. There are undoubtedly people who don’t know about the bereavement and they just think I am rude. My husband could have written the cards but he didn’t bother. He says he’s too busy just going to work never mind writing cards.
Loads of people don't send them these days, I'm sure people won't notice.

I didn't do them last year but managed it this year. Just posted a day late 😬. It's the worst Christmas job though. Sooooooo boring.

RavingAnnie · 21/12/2021 20:14

@Notlostjustexploring

I've come on here for moral support and realised that I've missed the Irish last post and the 2nd class last post. I was going to sit down today and write my cards. Sigh. I didn't write cards last year as I was in a massive covid sulk so was going to repent this year. That'll be a bulk lot of 1st class stamps I'll be buying then...

I've also lost my "master Christmas notepad".

Although, first year I'm medicated, so yay!

Sorry

Just send them second class. I sent mine Monday and at least two arrived today. I think they just bung them in all together at this time of year.....

RavingAnnie · 21/12/2021 20:18

@Didiplanthis

I have ADHD and stopped my meds as my sleep was so awful.. net result..not written cards, have huge stack af amazon boxes no clue what's in them...considering putting all around tree and inviting children to do a lucky dip. I have no Xmas food except 2 bloody turkeys as put in a just in case order at waitrose as couldn't get to farm shop. Ordered from farm shop and now too late to cancel waitrose.. arse.. and I'm vegetarian...I would quite like to hide until January now.
I like the lucky dip idea.

Oh no on the two turkeys for a vegetarian.....can you freeze one?

RavingAnnie · 21/12/2021 20:20

Well done to everyone who's started their present wrapping! You are ON IT!!! 😃😃😃

RavingAnnie · 21/12/2021 20:22

I am putting tree and decorations up this evening. Had to have lots of prompting/encouragement from DH but tree is up! Just letting it "relax" before dressing.....Think it's a bit big...😬 Will post a pic once done.

Myadhdusername · 21/12/2021 20:55

I’ve convinced my DH to start the wrapping tonight Grin

Treaclepie19 · 21/12/2021 21:42

I'm not diagnosed so not sure I'm allowed but I've actually tried so hard this year to overplan and overdo and thought I'd got on top of everything. Only to realise a load of things today I've either not sorted or half finished. Joy 😅

What a beauty!!!! Absolutely gorgeous.

Mine is on its way out already Xmas Blush

wonderstuff · 22/12/2021 00:11

We got as far as looking at the presents and writing a list of stuff still to buy for the kids. I’ve lost the list already and found a present ds wanted in 2019 and I lost..

thelegohooverer · 22/12/2021 07:45

Presents wrapped - phew.

Tesco order - I’m sure I’ve forgotten half of what I need. I’ve tried for years to use a shopping list but only remember what I need when I’m standing in the shop.

Cards- completely forgot.

Cleaning - just arrgghhh. I can’t seem to get traction.

falalalalalalalallama · 22/12/2021 08:43

Didn't do cards here either. Been carrying them around with me but not found time to do them.

Might do the key ones today, even if they arrive late, at least the relatives will know we were thinking of them I guess?

We've arrived at the ILs and I've rediscovered the presents I had delivered here.

Good news - by some miracle, the presents I've bought for the DCs are pretty much balanced! Only main difference is that DD has a box of Lego and DS doesn't, so I'll buy something similar for him if I get a chance.

Bad news, very short of stuff for DP and SIL.

Am going to pop into town today for some panic buying!

Does anyone know, is anywhere online still delivering by Christmas or have I missed that boat?

Thought I was doing so well. Dd2 (25 and home for a few days) knows how to crush me with one phrase.

Is there a cleaning plan?

Is there ever?? It's pretty clean for here. I just want to go and crawl into a hole and cry. Actually I am crying a bit. I wish everyday stuff wasn't so hard.

HereticFanjo · 22/12/2021 12:59

I need to buy a few bits but my head is all over the place. I want to clean all the things but don't know where to start.

I understand this. I want my parents to come over tomorrow but at the moment I cant even walk through my kitchen for boxes and presents and ugh. I love Christmas but this chaos just tips my normal struggles over the edge.
reallyalurker · 22/12/2021 18:04

Is there a cleaning plan?

I would be upset by that. "Can I help with any cleaning?" might be better.

I have found the list and lost it a couple of times. It is currently found but I think I've gone off-list at this stage. Still got one thing to make. Was also making a hat but have postponed that until after Christmas. It's intarsia knitting, which I have never done before. It involves 17 balls of wool hanging off it and at the end of a row looks how my brain feels.

Next year I would like to find a way to feel better about Christmas - something about the planning and the chaos and the emotional hit of people is too hard.

Mumwithbaggage · 22/12/2021 18:24

reallyalurker, she does do lots of cleaning (she has forgotten what her room was like as a teenager!!) - her bf is coming over Christmas and I imagine his parents' house is spotless. It just makes me feel very inadequate.

Why is it not OK to say you struggle with cleaning? People say it about maths and spelling all the time and I'm great at both of those!

BertieBotts · 22/12/2021 20:13

Some kind of miracle has happened and I've actually wrapped everything Confused I've never done it before Christmas Eve before.

Ok I know what it was really, I was on a deadline, because DS1 finished school today and I don't have any evenings on account of having a surgically attached baby Grin but still!
