If you were making a Xmas stocking for yourself what would you put in it?

Just that really. This will be the first year that all the kids in our blended family will be together for the whole of Christmas so I want to make it special.

I’ve done their stockings (and one for DP). DP is very generous with gifts but will not have the imagination to put a stocking together for me so I thought I might do one for myself.

I’ve got a few ideas but any others would be great. Or do you think it’s a daft idea and I shouldn’t be doing it myself.

I always do my own one 😂 well I share with DH. Normally just a few bits eg some chocolate, bubble bath, a book, a candle, new socks

rainbowdancegirl · 15/12/2021 17:33

I would put in some nice chocolate, fluffy comfy socks, a Christmas candle, lip balm, luxurious showergel/ bath bombs / bubby bath, oh and some chocolate peanuts :)

I don't do stockings but live alone with my ds and always do "family gifts from Santa".

Previous years we've had a puzzle, board game, new pillows, new bedding, puzzle books, wash bags complete with mini toiletries. Things like slippers, blankets pjs etc.

Ds always had his stocking from Santa and gifts from the giver. These things have always been useful gifts I'd buy anyway but as ds is disabled and we live alone if I didn't I wouldn't have anything under the tree!

We go to my parents for lunch and gifts and I do get presents there.

Room spray and miniature candles from the Seychelles range in The White Company

A liquid hand wash along the same lines

Occitane mini hand creams with Shea butter in them

M&S champagne truffles

A new mug

A chilly water bottle

A contigo travel mug

A new Christmas decoration

Pen

Wax lyrical candle in sweet pea (it’s my favourite budget candle ever)

Honey roasted cashews

Nespresso pods

Cans of posh cocktails

One of the new extra fast chargers for the new iPhones

EarPods (if budget stretched)

justpoppy · 15/12/2021 18:29

Am adding a mug, posh hot chocolate and some squirty cream that only I’m allowed to use Grin
Bought a job lot of candles in Lidl the other day as I had a £10 voucher so don’t need any candles
Yankee candle melts though - not bought any of those for a while.

wool socks
orange smarties
fruit pastils

I would also include adult equivalents of the kids things: tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, tangerine. chocolate, sweets.

Journeylikenomother · 15/12/2021 19:19

I've bought myself some things and just handed them over to my OH, including:
Slippers, mascara, cc cream, gloves, face wash...
He's great at finding obscure but useful kitchen gadgets and chocolate he'd like for himself so thought I'd help him out this year!

NalPolishRemover · 15/12/2021 19:23

Over the past few years dh & I have done stockings for each other.

Last year mine had:
Mini champagne
Beautiful art notebook & pen from gallery shop
Anthropologie socks
Anthropologie fave masks in liberty fabric
Leonidas chocolates
L'occitane hand cream
Anthropologie mug with my initial
A Christmas decoration

I didn't choose any of them & he did really well! Am hoping for similar this year

NalPolishRemover · 15/12/2021 19:27

If I was making my own & money was no object I'd have mine filled with wonderful curiosities from shops like liberty, fortnams, Harrods etc.

I dream of luxury chocolate mice & posh cocktails & real gold trinkets!

Sometimes I idly imagine what a millionaires stocking would have in it. I reckon i'd have NO problem putting one together

chesirecat99 · 15/12/2021 19:41

Why don't you draw up a shortlist of 30 items and asked your DP to choose and purchase your stocking gifts? It doesn't have to be 30 different items, you could pick 10 types of items instead eg Yankee wax melts and give him a list of your favourites; L'Occitane hand cream, pick a couple of your favourite scents for him to choose between; a box of chocolates, give him a choice of your 3 favourite types etc.

KatherineofGaunt · 15/12/2021 19:44

If I don't do one for myself then I don't get one, but I do them for DH and DS. I told DH he needs to do me one this year but I can imagine he's forgotten.

Mine will be similar to theirs, just small. A book, some chocolate and some socks.
