Will DD notice the same wrapping paper from Santa and me?

Feeling very smug that I've already bought and wrapped all presents (this has never happened so early in December before).
However, I've realised all presents are wrapped in the same paper - the presents we're giving family, the presents from Santa and the presents to DD from us.
She's 6 - will she notice? My mum thinks I should rewrap her presents from Santa but I think that's a total waste of wrapping paper.
Thoughts?

Btw, just because they don't say anything doesn't mean they haven't noticed. I kept that to myself

Chimpychoo · 13/12/2021 15:24

I use tissue paper for Santa's gifts. In our house, Santa fills the stocking, with maybe a couple of other small (but too big for the stocking) gifts left by the stocking. Different colour/pattern tissue paper for each child. Although I wish I'd done the same colour for each child every year. I have to write myself a note every year - e.g DS1 blue, DS2 red, DD purple.

toastofthetown · 13/12/2021 15:38

I probably wouldn't;t bother rewrapping. It seems pretty wasteful to me. I also wouldn't go down the route of notes from Santa saying he used your paper. But then I don't see it as a bad thing that children can use that to help then figure out the truth about Father Christmas. Helps their critical thinking skills and also I think the more 'clues' they have to add their mental doubts that Father Christmas isn't real makes it easier when they do twig.

Wakemeuuuup · 13/12/2021 15:40

Santa's presents are never wrapped here. They weren't in my house or DH's so never dated on either of us to do it

Wakemeuuuup · 13/12/2021 15:40

Dated =dawned

pinkksugarmouse · 13/12/2021 16:00

DD thought that Santa’s elves made the wrapping paper and then sent extra to shops. The money people paid helped to pay for the things needed to make the toys.

jacqelinedaniels · 13/12/2021 16:01

Wow, I am what you would definitely call one of life’s worriers and I have never sweated over this! Ds is so desperate to get at the pressie inside the paper he barely pauses to notice what wrapping paper it is. Now at 9yo if he did twig it that’s probably a good thing, he’s going to need to work it out soon. I only write ‘from mum and dad’ on those clearly from us and don’t label others, explain that one’s from Santa if asked, etc., honestly it never comes up. If he has thought it he’s kept it quiet, anyway!

pinkksugarmouse · 13/12/2021 16:02

Just to add neither I nor her Dad told her this she just thought that was how it worked and she was pretty little at the time.

fuckyourpronouns · 13/12/2021 16:04

My husband wrapped the presents last year and got flamed for it by me 🤣. Poor man thought he was doing me a favour wrapping the presents whilst I was out.

Definitely rewrap!!

Largethighsbadeyes · 13/12/2021 16:04

This was how I worked he wasn't real! Sorry OP get re-wrapping

Snugglepumpkin · 13/12/2021 16:08

I got a few rolls each of the same designs (in the sales so it was really cheap) a few years back.

1 design is Santa gifts only. Have a packet of labels stuck in the box for Santa use only.
1 design is grandparent gifts (they always send money & ask me to get something.)
1 design is currently spare for when the current Santa design runs out.

Xmasfairy86 · 13/12/2021 16:38

My kids have never questioned this 🤣

PinkArt · 13/12/2021 16:52

I noticed when I was three. My parents had a small heart attack at the tiny Marple in their house but luckily it was just a 'isn't that funny mummy' observation, rather than the whole house of cards coming down.
The next year FC got his from somewhere else.

BertieBotts · 13/12/2021 17:02

She'll definitely notice, but unpopular opinion, does it matter? We've never been ultra secretive about it and it's never been any less magical for the fact they likely figured out Santa is just a story at about 4 or 5 years old.

Earwigworries · 13/12/2021 17:14

Kids can be really oblivious … I wrote a card on behalf of my dad for DS2 ..11 … and he didn’t notice

MargaretThursday · 13/12/2021 17:15

Dsis noticed when she was 3yo, so dm always did different paper for Santa.
Otoh it hadn't even occurred to me to think about it until my dc were little and dm mentioned it.
I do do separate paper for them, but they're old enough it doesn't matter.

MousesBack · 13/12/2021 17:15

@InglouriousBasterd

I hate to say it but this is exactly how i realised the truth about Santa at the same age!
Yep me too. Bit older, but kids these days are much savvier than they were in the 1980s
WineGetsMeThroughIt · 13/12/2021 17:18

Yup! We've had the same massive rolls of 'Santa's wrapping paper' under our bed for years lol. No idea where we got them, but they're huge rolls. The children will definitely know.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 13/12/2021 17:41

@SignOnTheWindow

Or you could leave a note from Santa to apologise for running out of wrapping paper and having to use yours? You could leave the sellotape and scissors out on a table to add to the story...
I love this, especially the little touches of leaving the scissors and tape out! Lots of kids would get a kick out of seeing that and knowing Santa had used their tape and paper etc Xmas Grin
Topseyt · 13/12/2021 17:45

@BarbaraofSeville

Don't be ridiculous. How is this even a thing? If she says anything just say Santa must have bought his paper in the same shop as you did.
I absolutely agree with this.

I never even realised that different coloured papers for different people and reasons was a thing until I read it on here. Everything is just wrapped in the same paper in this house. Always has been. Nobody ever batted an eyelid. They have reached adulthood now and seem to be unscathed.

It was never a thing in my parents' house growing up either. I couldn't be arsed with that. Seems like far too much of a faff.

MerryMarigold · 13/12/2021 17:45

She will definitely notice!

Metallicalover · 13/12/2021 17:51

In my family Santa is the delivery man, he makes some of the presents, a lot are bought in the shops and sent to Santa to deliver. The presents were never from him, they were from my parents, grandparents etc and I knew who to saw thank you too. This is how we're bringing up my child. I wouldn't waste wrapping paper, just say that you had the same as Santa!
Lots of waste re wrapping!

Tractordiggerdump · 13/12/2021 17:51

Yes! I’m at ll over it this year (dd7) last year I had to say Santa stole our wrapping paper as he must have forgot

SaticoyStreet · 13/12/2021 18:00

Santa seems to be all about telling lies so just make up another one 😂 see how much they really believe

SaticoyStreet · 13/12/2021 18:01

I don’t think it’s worth wasting paper over. I never believe in him (I just refused because I thought it was creepy and saw through all the lies) but I chose to go along with it all for fun. Even if she figures it out, the magic won’t be lost. It wasn’t lost on me anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️
