Will DD notice the same wrapping paper from Santa and me?

Feeling very smug that I've already bought and wrapped all presents (this has never happened so early in December before).
However, I've realised all presents are wrapped in the same paper - the presents we're giving family, the presents from Santa and the presents to DD from us.
She's 6 - will she notice? My mum thinks I should rewrap her presents from Santa but I think that's a total waste of wrapping paper.
Thoughts?

My dc once asked why I had presents to wrap because santa brings them and I said mummy helps wrap them and sends them back to santa. Never questioned the paper being the same and is 9 now so it obviously worked!

Coronawireless · 13/12/2021 11:58

@Twopenny

My brother and I noticed that one of the items Santa brought was the free gift that had been 'missing' from a comic from the stack we'd been given for the long drive to our holiday the previous summer...we would absolutely have noticed the same wrapping paper!
😂Now that is stingy
RedToothBrush · 13/12/2021 12:01

Mine 100% would.

Nothing gets past that little terror.

Santa wraps in generic gold or silver which I just happen to also have in all year around for Birthdays and Christmas.

alwaystakethetrip · 13/12/2021 12:05

Santa doesn't wrap in this house. He didn't wrap in mine growing up either (very environmentally friendly, but not the reason for no wrapping!!) He just puts the presents inside the stocking, and the stocking acts as the wrapping paper. As a kid, I never thought twice about it

stingofthebutterfly · 13/12/2021 12:06

My 5 year old noticed that Santa used the same sellotape that I had. It wasn't fancy, just from a dispenser that cut it a certain way. I'd definitely not use the same paper.

Twopenny · 13/12/2021 12:07

@Coronawireless we knew they didn't have a lot of money so we didn't mind the thrift. The sloppiness, however - inexcusable!

RuthW · 13/12/2021 12:08

Yes she will notice

MeltedButter · 13/12/2021 12:09

Do not re wrap that's rediculous. Why can't Santa have the same paper as you anyway?

Pascha · 13/12/2021 12:09

Just say Santa shops in Tesco too.

TalesOfDrunkennessAndCruelty · 13/12/2021 12:11

My DC noticed this and they were much younger than six

HalloHello · 13/12/2021 12:16

Definitely rewrap!! Even my nearly 4 year old would ask questions! Wrapping paper isn't expensive, you can get a roll for £1. Carefully unwrap and save the paper for next year if you are really bothered.

DappyApple · 13/12/2021 12:19

Yes mine would have noticed, family presents were always wrapped in a different paper.
I remember questioning my mum when I was younger, asking why Santa had the same writing as her as I noticed my name on the present. I can’t remember what her explanation was but it was enough to stop me asking again!

DappyApple · 13/12/2021 12:20

Or you could say Santa ran out of wrapping paper so you had to send him some!

averythinline · 13/12/2021 12:23

My DS would notice sorry ... he even remembered paper from years before....couldn't get away with anything!

elliejjtiny · 13/12/2021 12:23

I remember one year my mum telling me that Santa had run out of wrapping paper so she had to give him some of hers Grin

BigSandyBalls2015 · 13/12/2021 12:25

Yep she'll know ... this is how DD1 found out at about the same age.

alh26 · 13/12/2021 12:25

I queried this once but I was 7. My mums response was, well the elves must have run out and stocked up from Waitrose! I believed her 😬

IglesiasPiggl · 13/12/2021 12:28

You can't wrap Santa gifts in the same wrapping as family gifts
'Tis the law!

NortieTortie · 13/12/2021 12:29

My 6yo (then 5) noticed last year. I just said wow, we must have the same taste! and that was it. I don't think it's a big deal.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/12/2021 12:29

Sometimes Santa needs to rewrap presents using the paper around the house if the old wrapping paper was damaged during the sleigh ride.

DockOTheBay · 13/12/2021 12:30

@TerribleCustomerCervix

You could just save the aggro and just not wrap the Santa presents?

I don’t really understand the point of wrapping them for a maximum period of, what, ten minutes between the kids walking in through the door and the final gift being opened?

Because its fun?
SSOYS · 13/12/2021 12:30

"Father Christmas uses the same paper as you, Mum!"

"Yes, it's a very popular design."

I wouldn't sweat it. Gradually with all the mounting evidence they will twig that you're Father Christmas, and that's how it should be. Better that than believing with no doubts whatsoever until an advanced age and then getting a shock.

Hummingbirdcake · 13/12/2021 12:31

The special Santa wrapping paper! For the big Santa present and the little presents in the stocking! Just don’t let it fall out of the wardrobe when DC is looking!

chesirecat99 · 13/12/2021 12:34

Do you have a shredder? If you remove the sellotape, you could shred the wrapping paper to use in gift bags next year if it is too crumpled to reuse or you could use it to make paperchains with your DD rather than waste it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/12/2021 12:36

All presents are wrapped in brown paper here, including santa presents. He uses brown paper because we do, that way it's easier to see whose house they belong to, instead of having to rummage through his sack, he can stack them all in piles according to household depending on what wrapping paper he's used for them.
