Will DD notice the same wrapping paper from Santa and me?

Feeling very smug that I've already bought and wrapped all presents (this has never happened so early in December before).
However, I've realised all presents are wrapped in the same paper - the presents we're giving family, the presents from Santa and the presents to DD from us.
She's 6 - will she notice? My mum thinks I should rewrap her presents from Santa but I think that's a total waste of wrapping paper.
Thoughts?

YES re wrap!

We use brown paper for Father Christmas presents too, with their names 'hastily' written on the side of each one, like it's a delivery box

misselphaba · 13/12/2021 12:39

My then 3 year old spotted Santa's paper in a cupboard. I explained that I helpfully left the paper out for Santa to use as he couldn't be expected to bring his own when he had so many presents to wrap.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 13/12/2021 12:45

I too have a 6 year old...she will notice! Best re-wrap!

zoemum2006 · 13/12/2021 12:46

Not only would I re-wrap but I’d re-wrap in a distinctive, special paper that is only every used for Santa gifts and is hidden away.

I’ll do do it this year even though my kids at 11 and 15.

Capricopia · 13/12/2021 12:47

I think at 6 she will notice. It is a bit of a waste of wrap but I would rewrap too! Maybe do Santa’s in brown paper with some nice coloured string so at least it’s the most eco kind of paper.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 13/12/2021 12:49

I think it depends on the paper. Is it patterned or plain brown? If patterned, a 6yo would definitely notice and probably ask questions. If plain brown I think you’re fine. It’s up to you whether or not to rewrap. How upset would you be if she realises at age 6?

Poisinedmummy · 13/12/2021 13:01

My mum used to tell me that Santa leaves presents unwrapped under the tree with a note asking her to wrap them as his so busy
I always believed it 😂

thisplaceisweird · 13/12/2021 13:05

Yes! This is how I worked out Santa wasn't real.

collybubble · 13/12/2021 13:10

Yes. Re-wrap. Sorry

Blossom64265 · 13/12/2021 13:10

I would expect a 3yo to notice the paper. A 6yo definitely will.

At 5 I was calling my parents out on Santa because a barrette had tiny letters on it saying “made in China”. I could accept that Santa sourced branded toys outside the workshop, but a plain barrette was just inconceivable.

If you want to perpetuate the myth, you have to get these details perfect.

Geordieoldgirl · 13/12/2021 13:14

When my children noticed this (and I hadn’t expected them to) I said that Santa often uses the paper he finds lying around in the house. Seemed to work!

Gardenshed78 · 13/12/2021 13:20

This is how I realised Father Christmas wasn't real! Also, that he had the same handwriting as my dad Grin I remember it clearly all these years later!

Skyeheather · 13/12/2021 13:22

I would re-wrap. I always use paper from last year or the year before that I've stashed in the loft for Santa's gifts.

DP did tell DSD one year that Santa buys his paper in ASDA same as everyone else after she asked why her Mum and Santa both wrapped their presents in the same design one year!

Beautiful3 · 13/12/2021 13:35

Yes rewrap. I made the same mistake, and it started a thought process that santa might be mummy! My daughter ended up asking me, if I was santa a few months afterwards. Wished I'd just used different wrapping paper now!

C152 · 13/12/2021 13:58

Yes, she probably will!

TallulahsCurse · 13/12/2021 14:01

100% re wrap

HAPPILYMARRIEDSINCE2012 · 13/12/2021 14:35

Yes, definitely re-wrap it.

Notsunny · 13/12/2021 14:36

I would just say you sent wrapping paper to Santa because you bought too much and wanted to be eco.
But my children wouldn’t have cared because I told them I wrapped and sent to Santa to deliver ( bah humbug me).

RestingStitchFace · 13/12/2021 14:37

My 7 year old would notice....nipping out later to buy different paper.

clartins · 13/12/2021 14:44

@Anycolourwilldo

Oh god! I guess I need to re-wrap. If I do it really carefully I can save the paper for next year. Gah - another job on the list! Thanks for your replies
You really don’t. Your future self will wonder why you worried about this. Whatever you do, enjoy your Christmas 🎄
transformandriseup · 13/12/2021 15:00

Not all children will notice but I did notice the same paper maybe around 5/6 and mentioned it out loud on the day Blush

mam0918 · 13/12/2021 15:01

but Santa leaves gifts unwrapped (millions of children in the world, he doesn't have time to be wrapping things + he's environmentally conscious) so only gifts from family members under the tree are wrapped and no issues with clashing.

HeadPain · 13/12/2021 15:09

This was one of the things that raised my suspicions as a child. I don't know how old I was, under 8 though as it was before we moved house.

Mirw · 13/12/2021 15:13

Will she notice. Probably not. And even if she does, you can say "oh, look. Santa is copying Mum this year. Posh paper" or something like it. She is 6! If you lie about Santa, you can lie about wrapping paper. Saving the planet and all that!!!!

AliceMcK · 13/12/2021 15:13

This is my worry this year too. I colour coordinate and just wrapped all the presents in the relevant paper. It’s not so much the colour coordination as we’ve always said that we work with Santa so we can say we matched paper up, but we get DD1 & DD2 a lot of the same gifts and after wrapping I couldn’t remember what was what so just stuck labels on from either santa or us. I can see DD1 noticing that Santa brought her something that we’ve bought her sister. She’s the only one who bothers to read labels.
