I like "Stop the Cavalry"!

I can't stand "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day" (why do you, FGS??!) or "Mistletoe & Wine".

Or Mariah Carey (screeeeeeech-warble-warble) doing "All I Waa-a-a-nt Fo-o-r Chris-i-i-stmas is Yo-ou-uou".

John Lennon - War is Over. So, depressing from the first line. And so this is Christmas, and what have we done?

doggiesayswoof · 18/12/2007 14:21

UD

I've just voted the Mariah Carey one as a big fave on the other thread - it is genius! She is so awful at normal times of the year but she somehow makes sense in a Mrs santa outfit

Kylie, singing in that simpering way of hers " Santa baby...." Love the Eartha Kitt version. Also, can't stand Spice Girls version of Christmas Wrapping, or Ronans murdering of Fairytale of New York. Wassapoint??

doggiesayswoof · 18/12/2007 14:23

Maida I agree the Eartha Kitt version is great.

That ghastly Slade one. I had a narrow escape recently - DS1 had to arrange a carol or Christmas song for Music homework, and his group wanted to do that one but couldn't find the tune - I told him I wouldn't have allowed that song in the house!

UnquietDad · 19/12/2007 09:58

Thing is, if you held Mariah's scarf and strangled her with it, would the ensuing sound be in any way different from her "singing"?

TrinityTheRedNosedRhino · 19/12/2007 10:01

Whilst we are talking about songs...

What does everyone think about radio one bleeping the word 'faggot' from the Pogues 'Fairytale of New York'?

UnquietDad · 19/12/2007 10:03

They've stopped doing it now.

teasletinsel · 19/12/2007 10:04

I think bleeping the word 'faggot' is pc madness. Its unnecessary.

TrinityTheRedNosedRhino · 19/12/2007 10:05

have they??

Oh right, I must admit I laughed when I heard it with it bleeped

I don't think it's offensive

And then there was a gay guy on radio one saying he didn't find it offensive and couldn't think of anyone that would

UnquietDad · 19/12/2007 10:05

I think they lowered the sound for "faggot" and also for "slut". R2 kept it intact!

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 10:06

lol at slut being a bleepable word

TrinityTheRedNosedRhino · 19/12/2007 10:07

I didn't actually notice they had done it until I heard it the second time as the first time I was belting the song out with the radio

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 10:08

i dont like the kylie minogue version wither hunnis
