DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 09/12/2021 20:03

We are fitting a new kitchen in the new year so I'm using as much as I can out of the cupboards for Christmas, the menu consists mainly of things I can make "from stock"

Alcemeg · 09/12/2021 20:04

We're looking forward to our annual GIANT COCK 😋😋😋

A few years ago, we got to the shops late on Xmas Eve (in a non-UK Catholic country) and the shelves/fridges were almost bare, apart from a capon.

Well, that capon was a-may-ZING dahling. We've repeated it every Xmas since!

H1Drangea · 09/12/2021 20:21

Bottle of Advocaat, vodka, lemonade and lime cordial for home made snowballs. It really isn’t Christmas without these!

Oops forgot you’re not drinking OP.

@drivinghomechristmas please could you share your candycane shortbread recipe?Xmas Smile

DrivingHomeChristmas · 10/12/2021 05:32

Here is the recipe - I’m not sure about the legalities of recipes in photos but it’s from a £1 booklet I got from Waitrose in 2009! It become a family standard. I’m a foster carer and when my children move on they always demand our family ( Waitrose) recipe!
To make it ‘candy cane’ I cover the top with white chocolate and crushed candy canes, but the original recipe is excellent too. Always make at least double the recipe!

@middleager

I need to know where this chocolate squirty cream is from!
I was frantically googled last night!

They do one in Asda but it was out of stock online.

Hauntingnotespizzicatostrings · 10/12/2021 12:24

@middleager I got ours at asda, bloody delicious it is! I imagined it would sell very well hence buying two

CornishGem1975 · 10/12/2021 13:31

@middleager

I need to know where this chocolate squirty cream is from!
Marks and Spencers do one and it's so good!
middleager · 10/12/2021 18:49

Thanks Cornish I am on it!

I think somebody mentioned toffee apple cider earlier. I saw a box at Lidl and bought some - hope they live up to the hype.

Winterfellismyhome · 10/12/2021 18:52

Thanks everyone! This has been so helped. Added the chocolate squirty cream to my basket Grin

middleager · 10/12/2021 18:57

Thanks Minty and *Haunting'. I was in Asda earlier, but hadn't seen this.
Clearly missed this secret gem!

middleager · 10/12/2021 19:00

Toffee vodka (amazing added to mulled cider)

And I somehow reconstructed this to read toffee apple cider Blush

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 10/12/2021 19:00

Oh OP this thread has reminded me how glad I am to not be pregnant this Christmas!! My shopping list is basically ALL THE CHEESE.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 10/12/2021 19:10

Christmas is all about the cheese.

I'm a cheese addict, but sadly am also very fat and very diabetic so it's my once a year day to eat without guilt!

I've got a Riverford cheese box this week........and it's only the fact that I've ordered the crackers and sides to go with it on the main shop that I've not cracked into any of it Blush
