Just finished setting up Christmas Breakfast!

Some people might remember I posted 2 or 3 years ago about the 'Christmas Breakfast' I do for my DC on 1st December. I got blasted by some posters and one poster branded it 'Plastic tat mentality' - which still makes me laugh every year! I'm still sticking to our tradition and have just got things ready.

I decorate the table and set the DC's places with their Christmas plate. I prop their advent calendar up at their place. I make something Christmassy for breakfast like star shaped toast or tree shaped crumpets. This year I am doing Snowman pancakes! They also have a jingle bell pen each. Can't wait to see their faces in the morning! Christmas music will be playing as they come down the stairs!

The poster in question said it was ‘plastic tat mentality’. So they acknowledged that there was no plastic tat involved, just took offence to the ‘mentality’ of it. Weird

I remember your thread. You got a lot of abuse from people. On MN it's against the law to do anything Christmassy. There is equal shock over Christmas eve boxes and the elf on the shelf.

I don't have kids so don't do any of it but your breakfast sounds magical 😊

Surely whatever makes YOUR Christmas special is buggar all for other people to judge?
I have just been trawling shops as dd decided she did want an advent calendar this year..

That was what was so funny about it - there really is no plastic tat in my breakfast! The poster kept digging a hole where they tried to explain that something could be "plastic tat mentality' even if it didn't contain plastic tat!

Dd is 17 but would probably be onboard with snowman pancakes! Unfortunately she's usually up and out before me in the morning.

She's got a long day tomorrow but she'll have her advent calendar when she gets home and I'll try and get a few decorations up.

Aww, thank you! I have to say I don the hard hat if posting on AIBU but didn't expect it on the Christmas topic!!

I really like this idea. Might steal it in a couple of years when my little one will be old enough. I also can't stand elf on the shelf but this is just fun and cute!

I'm going to do 2 pancakes on the plate - 1 a bit bigger than the other. I've got chocolate drops for coal eyes/buttons, strawberry laces for a scarf and an orange fruit pastel for the nose!

Ah, brilliant! We can think of each other faffing about with snowman pancakes in the early hours!!

Sounds brilliant - enjoy! We are at home with covid and so having a full Xmas day tomorrow just to brighten our week up. Putting the tree up, cooking a Xmas dinner And pulling crackers And bought the kids a wee present each. I think anything that brings a bit of fun is a great idea! Have a great day
