Hello all,

I am looking to replace my phone as it is beyond help and also get one for DD. Was looking at the Samsung A12 (128mg) for £150 ish but not great reviews. Does anyone have any recommendations please? I know this is the budget end of the market for smart phones. Def android. Like samsung but have huwaei p20 for me which is fine but beyond old and tired. I thought today would be a good day but prices no different!

What do your DC or you have along these lines?

Thanks Flowers

Try CEX - see if there’s a shop near you. You can find something secondhand much cheaper, and they come with a 1 or 2 year warranty. If you can stretch to it try and get an iPhone as that’s what most children / teens will be using.

Any more recommendations for a phone (budget) for Dd (age 12) and me to be honest?

Get a second hand iPhone.
I got my DD the last couple she's had from Music Magpie. They have a year guarantee and have been great when one did go wrong. For £150 you could get an iPhone 6 ,or 7 or a Google pixel.

OP has specified android, so why 'get an iPhone' Confused

My dd has the Samsung A12 and I have the predecessor, the A10. Absolutely nothing wrong with them. Tesco mobile currently have the A12 for £139.99 on PAYG, or £10.99 per month on contract.

I would definitely recommend second hand. I have been buying my Samsungs second hand because all the new ones are so huge. My current one is an s4 mini (I think) but why don't you just pop in to a shop and see what is available at the right price. I generally pay just under £100 and mine always last for years.

There's some good black Friday offers on Motorola G9 or G10 series and they're great pphones for the money.Look on the Motorola website, giff gaff or just google.

I'm looking at getting a Google Pixel to replace my Huawei P20 (which I love but is getting old!) Music Magpie refurbished tech is great.

Fantastic, really appreciate all the recommendations and advice. Totally happy to go second hand, often makes more sense! Off to google all the suggestions. Flowers

My dd11 has the A12 and it's a great phone, absolutely no issues, my mum bought one too after seeing dds.

You could get her a phone designed for children with no social media, a dumb phone essentially.

FedUpFelicia · 27/11/2021 01:10

Google pixel is wonderful.

I would recommend Motorola, DH and I have had them for the past few years and DD has one of my old ones. They have been solid reliable phones for us and they are very reasonably priced.
