A board game, books, nice food, probably a DVD or two. We never do big presents.

@ParkheadParadise Oh - what is this whisky experience in Edinburgh of which you speak ? Any details appreciated - otherwise can google along with the best.

One year I got him a belly button brush. He used it for his camera lens. One of the girls borrowed it for makeup so it's hers now.
It's the way of the dad, anything nice he got was often borrowed or eaten by the girls (or me).

Stompythedinosaur · 24/11/2021 13:40

Dp has the audacity to have a Christmas birthday so I have to think of double presents!

For his birthday he is getting:
Weighted blanket
Journal 29 puzzle book
Self closing travel coffee mug

For Christmas:
Lockpick set
Specialist seat for a hobby he has
Tickets to a comedy show

Fetchthevet · 24/11/2021 14:18

Thank you @17caterpillars1mouse. Ideal for my OH.

BasiliskStare · 24/11/2021 18:54

Well I have gone down the route of asking Dh - There is a thing he can put on his bike ( which is now taking up all of my - well to be honest our spare room - - where , if you do a bicycle race with the iPad or so forth - you can take the front wheel off and it makes it seem like bike going uphill

I really wanted that to be a lovely guest bedroom but to be fair over lockdown never used & DH uses it all the time.

Leaves me cold ( bike thing) - but if he likes It I have told him to order it but but it has to be put to one side and put under the tree - can't just have it. I have bought a couple of very inexpensive things to wrap up as well.

SeasonFinale · 25/11/2021 00:35

New leather messenger bag tonrepkace his tatty one he insists on still using. Hoping a new one will persuade him otherwise.

Intrigued by the lockpick set @Stompythedinosaur Is he a burglar??

PickAChew · 25/11/2021 00:37

Just some stuff he needs but hasn't organised himself to buy.

Got sausage aftershave on the brain, now, mind.

AnnieSnap · 25/11/2021 00:46

Mine wants a new Camcorder. Unfortunately, due the the worldwide shortage of computer chips. There is no stock anywhere. I had put off buying myself a Neom Diffuser for months because DH never knows what to buy me. We both have pretty much anything we want. Well, until he wanted to update his camcorder. He would have added a bit of jewellery too. Eventually, I suggested to him that, rather than buying things we’re no bothered about just because it’s Christmas, we don’t buy each other presents this year at all and I get myself the diffuser. We buy each other gifts at other times and going ahead this Christmas just seems like wasting money. He agrees, so we are giving it a miss.

That said, it is DH birthday on 22nd. I agonised over what I could get him that he would genuinely like. Then it came to me. A coffee maker that grinds beans, then makes the coffee (not a big shiney, too many controls barista thing). He will enjoy using that. He likes freshly ground beans, but doesn’t want an all bells and whistles thing. Currently, he uses a hand held grinder and a cafetière.
