I have no idea what to buy my mum, she doesn't have any hobbies, she's not into fancy bath sets etc.

I might be going to a designer outlet shop so I'm thinking of getting her something from there, just wondering what others are getting for their mums Smile

My mother in law but she’s similar. I’ve got a nice rAdley bag from the outlet shop for when she goes to the bowling club, a litre of baileys, a box of m n s chocs, some candles and a wee body shop set.

It’s tough isn’t it. I just buy things I would like but toned down now for her.

My mum is 80 and has always wanted a really comfy electric recliner chair, it was ordered ages ago so fingers crossed it arrives in time! Also some jigsaw puzzles, hand creams and other small stocking fillers.

I have no advice but my mum is the most difficult to buy for:
No hobbies
hates flowers / plants etc
No alcohol
No books
No perfume
No restaurant vouchers

In fact she also regifts anything that she gets - I used to think this was v v rude then I realised that if I get something I like I'll get it back!Grin

We're often stumped too. Sometimes we've done practical things that she needs like redecorate a room in her house, some new lighting another time and even a washing machine one year when hers packed up just before Christmas. Not very exciting gifts but they've been something she needed doing at the time.

One of those pictures of her and my dad from Little Florence
Muscari bulbs in a jug from m and s
Some snow boots for walking the dog

Nothing. I am on strict instructions to donate the money to the food bank.

MrsHookey · 19/11/2021 22:46

Voucher for beauty place she likes. Also considered a subscription. I guess you could do a voucher fir a day out or afternoon tea?

pizzaobsessed · 19/11/2021 22:49

A handbag, Amaretto chocs from Hotel Chocolat and a subscription for Good Housekeeping magazine

Samanabanana · 19/11/2021 22:50

A chunky cardigan, a fancy photo frame from Cox and Cox, the annual school pic of DC1 and some personalised baubles.

ufucoffee · 19/11/2021 22:51

I might be the same age as your mum and I love being given vouchers for John Lewis or similar so I can go on a little shopping spree and buy myself treats.

JacquelineCarlyle · 19/11/2021 22:53

A beautiful scarf, chocolates and a mug - I hope she likes them but if not, at least she'll have something to open on Christmas Day!

Kitkat151 · 19/11/2021 22:55

Theatre tickets For the Jodie Comer Play Prima Facie next year, a jigsaw and giant sized dark chocolate toblerone

DockOTheBay · 19/11/2021 22:59

A hot food flask to take on days out
Photo calendar of the kids
Voucher for an afternoon tea

LubaLuca · 19/11/2021 23:00

A jewellery stand for her long necklaces and an air fryer. She's asked for these things, it's not my idea to go so practical.

BlibBlabBlob · 19/11/2021 23:01

I'm doing a custom diamond painting of a photo of me and DD. Something to stick on her wall and hopefully she will be touched that I've spent many hours doing it. Works for me too as I find it a calming activity and bought the kit from Amazon for about £15!

PingedPotato · 19/11/2021 23:02

Postal flower subscription for 6 months (just runs out in time for me to get one for her birthday if she likes it)

MintyGreenDream · 19/11/2021 23:03

Fitbit dupe and some earrings

What is this? It's made of diamonds?
MrsSkylerWhite · 19/11/2021 23:04

Face cream, fluffy pyjamas, gin and a Walking with Wolves Day.

AdaColeman · 19/11/2021 23:05

I’m probably old enough to be your Mum!
Things I’d like are …
A cashmere cardigan
Fingerless gloves
Amazon voucher for Kindle books
Posh chocolate (Prestat, Godiva)
Fancy biscuits and jams
Watercolour paint box
Ready mixed Negroni cocktail

olivehater · 19/11/2021 23:05

Pocket book diary
Silk pillow case
Big cosy blanket for the sofa

HerkyBaby · 19/11/2021 23:27

Snakeskin patterned trainers from Lotus. They are lace up with zips making them easy to get on or off. They are a bold design but funky. She’s 76 and will either love them or hate them.

Stompythedinosaur · 19/11/2021 23:37

I'm getting mine a hori hori gardening knife, a photo book and photo calendar.

Excited101 · 19/11/2021 23:42

A tiny ‘cream tea’ gin,
A tiny tin of 3 ‘emergency tea bags’ from F&M,
Mojito after eights
A personalised bag for when she goes to the caravan,
A personalised Christmas food platter with her nickname on

Lightisnotwhite · 19/11/2021 23:43

Books
Magazine subscription - mine wanted nothing but loves Prima popping through her door every month.
Photo book
Something luxe - cashmere, caviar, and not expensive in itself but something you wouldn’t buy.
