Me!

DockOTheBay · 17/11/2021 12:57

Why not start now? Procrastination just means you'll end up spending more and having fewer choices.

But starting too early means you might get...

THE TWITCH

ByeBumpHiBaby · 17/11/2021 13:04

That was me yesterday! But one gift has been bought and hidden...

Can I be smug? Grin

Seriously though, I need to get cracking!

MistyFrequencies · 17/11/2021 13:07

Me. I just have no idea what to buy.

Wildrobin · 17/11/2021 13:17

Rather than look online I tried having a brain storm with a piece of paper which produced better ideas mostly as you think about the person and what they enjoy doing. I thought DD would enjoy some tickets to something and DS a laser gun , but otherwise haven’t made progress. I need the pressure of last minute !!

Frymetothemoon · 17/11/2021 13:20

Me - mainly because I have no idea what to get anyone...

Wildrobin · 17/11/2021 13:21

I also did a bit of research on the Christmas thread here which was improved my stockings (personalised Coca Cola cans will be a fun change . I have a £5 off referral code if useful to anyone).
I often go for edibles for my parents as they don’t want any more clutter , so that’s good last minute anyway (fresher !)

DoctorWhoTardis · 17/11/2021 13:23

I've brought my DC their presents but mainly because I can't be doing with the hassle of doing it late.
However I haven't brought any presents for anyone else... I'm really wondering if I should bother this year it's pointless the adults in my family are all just asking for money would it be bad to just get them nothing and say me cooking Christmas dinner is my present to them? Grin

Roselilly36 · 17/11/2021 13:28

Only 5 Saturdays until Christmas OP!

steppemum · 17/11/2021 13:37

I have jsut started.
Went out for a potter round shops with my friends this week and bought some bits for stockings.

I don't usually start any earlier than this. Dd 2 has just had her birthday, so as I buy for that I usually start buying for Christmas.

One of my friends is usually finished in October and then starts wrapping. I just can't get my head around it!

steppemum · 17/11/2021 13:39

There are more than 5 weeks until Christmas. Unless I'm ordering from China, I don't need 5 weeks to buy a few presents.

It really isn't procrastinating, it is just how you choose to organise yourselves.

And no, buying later doesn't mean fewer choices and more money spent. Or at least it never does to me. But then I don't panic buy.

Dinotruxagain · 17/11/2021 13:42

I've done a couple of bits in the Sainsburys toy sale but nowt else yet.
I have however made OH book the same day off as me (random mid week day) just after payday and I intend to hit and run.
I'm usually more organised but we went on holiday so spare cash was swallowed up there.

It's isn't too bad as we've stopped buying for adults, and the big one just wants cash.. its mainly DS 4 I need to sort.

Ideas welcome!

Coughee · 17/11/2021 13:48

It's only mid November. To me ONLY 5 Saturdays should read there are STILL 5 Saturdays until Christmas. Loads of time. It generally only takes me a couple of shopping trips and a few online orders to get it done. Nobody will give you a medal for getting it done early.

Helpimfalling · 17/11/2021 13:49

Please say I'm not the only one!
First few things arrived this week some pants and socks and a game so don't feel too behind.

Although must crack on in the Black Friday sale

Wildrobin · 17/11/2021 13:52

I also feel sometimes want a gift receipt and this is better close to Christmas too. So there are advantages!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 17/11/2021 13:53

Have given it zero thought. And I work in retail......I just cba.

38 shopping days !!! And some international last posting dates are already past!

garlictwist · 17/11/2021 13:56

I decided to start last night. Ordered a couple of bits and then remembered that I won't be at home for the next ten days so they won't be able to be delivered so rather a waste of time. I will just do it in December like I normally do.

imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere · 17/11/2021 13:59

Me! I deliberately don't shop for Christmas until it's nearer Christmas! I like to feel Christmassy when I choose gifts, and we don't go over the top in my family so if it's not available we just don't have it. I do it all over a weekend in December.

I'm fully done! Sorry!

Brokenrecord3006 · 17/11/2021 14:06

I've not done any yet, but I do have a list with ideas for each person. I expect I'll start ordering in the next week or so! I've never shopped early and I never feel rushed.

I also agree with PP, that I like to feel Christmassy when I do my Christmas shopping! So it wouldn't feel the same to start any earlier than I do.

shinynewapple21 · 17/11/2021 14:09

Me - but I don't have a lot of presents to get. Adult DC and partner , my mum and a couple of friends, including DH best friend where we buy for the whole family . Have just made an agreement with my brother that we won't swap presents this year .

When I had young DC and older generation all still around I always started October half term with aim to get wrapped by first week in December .
