I want to do it now!
But I know it’s too early… when can I?!?

OP posts:
hamsterchump · 10/11/2021 15:15

If you want to do it now do it now. Life is too short not to do what you want to do, especially when it's as innocuous as putting up a nice wreath.

ParkheadParadise · 10/11/2021 15:16

20th December 😂😂

CheshireChat · 10/11/2021 15:17

I've already seen 1 wreath and 1 Christmas tree in my area Shock.

TabithaTumbler · 10/11/2021 15:20

Yes I’ve seen a wreath round my way too. Do it now OP, if it’ll make you happy.

Jumpingintochristmas · 10/11/2021 15:24

Last weekend in November at the earliest for me. If it makes you happy go for it!

gogohm · 10/11/2021 15:24

I would say anything after advent Sunday is fair enough, 28th November I think this year. Only wreaths that should be up now are for remembrance

Lemonsyellow · 10/11/2021 15:26

Could you put up an autumn one for now? A couple of houses have those where I am.

Bonnealle · 10/11/2021 15:28

At least December surely? Otherwise nothing will be special!

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/11/2021 15:28

December 1st.

MedicineHat · 10/11/2021 15:30

Not until after Remembrance Day

VexedofVirginiaWater · 10/11/2021 15:43

@MedicineHat

Not until after Remembrance Day
This. Even if I want to, I don't do any Christmas decorating stuff until after Remembrance Sunday - or 11th November, whichever comes later.
EnglishRose1320 · 10/11/2021 15:44

I think December the 1st onwards is a good guide.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/11/2021 15:44

I'm making wreaths with friends on 25th November and it will go straight up.

cowburp · 10/11/2021 16:06

December

ComDummings · 10/11/2021 16:08

Whenever you want! I tend to do decorations around the first weekend in December but if it will make you happy now then why not?

DentalWorries · 10/11/2021 17:38

Last weekend in November here. I’m going all out this year and have also ordered this. I won’t tie the bow but will instead cover that part with my wreath www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07XHHXDKX?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/11/2021 17:51

Dec 1st here, because it’s always a real one that’ll start to look sad if it goes up too early.

OneMoreForExtra · 10/11/2021 17:57

December, and not a second earlier. Giving into instant gratification and smearing Christmas across most of the autumn* really reduces its special sparkle at the right time!

See also: xmas decorations in the garden centre at half term, xmas music in shops in November, etc etc. It's like opening birthday presents before your actual birthday - wrong, greedy and not actually any more fun

Phew! Apparently I have strong opinions about this!

CactusFlowers · 10/11/2021 17:59

@cowburp

December
Agreed.
HeyupitsChristmas · 10/11/2021 18:08

I have an Autumn Wreath on my front door and will be making a Christmas Wreath in a couple of weeks so as soon as I get back from the workshop it'll be up.

supremelybaffled · 10/11/2021 18:12

I'd say the first Sunday of Advent, which this year is 28th November.

Angel2702 · 10/11/2021 18:26

Ours is all going up for the last Sunday of November. Which is the first Sunday of Advent.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 10/11/2021 18:32

Agree with pp - it is an advent wreath so wait for advent.

BadgeronaMoped · 10/11/2021 18:42

1st of December

maofteens · 10/11/2021 18:57

Dec 1.
