OK guys what are your signs you are obsessed? For me it's

  1. Settling down with my coffee and watching those YouTube xmas shopping hauls/gift guides from about September onwards, and scrolling mumsnet christmas posts.
  1. My OH has fantasy football I have fantasy shopping lol I make up a budget ie £100 and a person to buy for e.g 16 year old goth girl or 13 year old sports kid and then look what I'd get them. Fun times.

Having my tree up and presents wrapped under it already. Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 28/10/2021 13:02

My annual hunt through Robeson Design's christmas decorating tutorials on you tube. Just to remind myself of good tricks.

Printing off my Holiday Grand Plan sheets in august, to start the 16 week programme of deep cleaning the house, decluttering, Christmas preparation and general preparing for winter.

Rolling over my excel spreadsheet every January, to start budgeting, gather ideas, and log any purchases or craft makes before I hide them (and forget them later) for the Christmas at the end of the year. I update this on a "needs must" basis early in the year, but start checking and updating at least weekly in September.

Sewing Christmassy cross stitch designs sitting on a beach in July...you get some interesting looks and double-takes! Xmas Grin

Pulling out my snowman mug in October to use for the rest of the winter at work...

Knowing that the Christmas edition of BBC Good Food magazine is out today Grin That's my afternoon sorted!

RestingStitchFace · 28/10/2021 13:49

Spending £20 on a single bauble because it's pretty and I have no self-control. Spending hours decorating the tree so that every fairy light hits the baubles in exactly the right way.

Having DS's stocking filled and in the wardrobe from October.

CrazyBaubles · 28/10/2021 14:11

With you on the Christmas cross stitch in the summer Biddy!

For me it's that I usually spend a bit of time towards the end of our summer holiday thinking about plans for this year because my planning starts properly in September.

I keep an ongoing list of present ideas for anyone i buy for.

If it's a grey miserable afternoon or evening, I will watch a festive film no matter what time of year.

And my newest one - I've discovered reels on Instagram and somehow random ones of snowy places / beautifully decorated towns and streets with Christmas music accompanying them have found their way to my feed - and I've saved some Xmas Blush

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 28/10/2021 14:21

When I start planning next Christmas on Boxing Day 🧑‍🎄

When in my top 5 things about our new house is how good it’s going to look at Christmas and if the ceilings are high enough for an even bigger tree than the one we have.

I spend all year thinking, shopping and planning for Christmas. I will happily watch Christmas movies all year round too.

How did I not know the YouTube thing was a thing 😱

I know how I’m spending my afternoon!!

Maizzee · 28/10/2021 14:26

I rewatch that film length Sainsburys ad around this time every year. I have a day at home alone next Wednesday, so I'll do that then.

Can't remember what it's called, weirdly. A Day of Christmas? Christmas in a Day?

Picture please!

I have just sat and watched Christmas cooking on Iplayer. Got my Christmas planner out, my Christmas cookbooks and started shopping in earnest.

My own personal obsession is baubles and wrapping paper. I spend as long finding the perfect wrapping paper as I do the presents.

Ooh, would you mind sharing the Instagram accounts please? (I hope I got that right. Haven't been on Instagram long and still getting the hang of it!) Also any suggestions fort YouTube would be welcome too. Thanks. Xmas Smile

Writing "Lists"
I have a book this year and my nice inkpen.
What I want to buy/ look out for in the attic and replace if needed
Food I'm going to cook.

I am not nearly organised enough to have bought presents yet but I have nearly all DD Beauty Advent gifts . This is Year 4 and she loves it . It forms part of her Christmas presents so not a load extra , just over a longer period . It does get trickier each year though.......

As soon as it's Nov 1st she'll want her Christmas Bedding on.

The Christmas magazines appearing
Looking out for this year's Christmas adverts ( John Lewis and M&S especially)

Tree up already!! Are you having us all on? If yes won’t you be so feed up with it by Christmas Day, or are you one of those who will take it down on Boxing Day.

I have just bought a great big light up stag for the front garden, have not told Dh yet ! I’m so excited can’t wait till 1st December when all the decks will be going up. Mine don’t come down till about the 5th January.

Moonface123 · 28/10/2021 18:58

I wouldn't say l am obsessed, but spent a lovely couple of hours in John Lewis earlier today, admiring their beautifully decorated Xmas trees, and their individual tree decorations are stunning. lovely to see peoples faces light up, young and old whilst browsing.

CrazyBaubles · 28/10/2021 19:09

@73kittycat73 Of course - the ones I've got saved are from these:

neverland.of.life
Worldofnewyearswonders
Christmasismerry
Christmas._passion

I think if you follow any of them, some suggestions should come up of other similar accounts Xmas Grin

@lemonyfox the holiday grand plan is here (fingers crossed the link works as I'm usually rubbish at these things)!

Yup, it's up, and no, I won't be fed up with it by Christmas. I don't tire of my usual ornaments through the year, I figure it's the same thing, don't you? I don't go overboard with the decorations (Like I used to. Xmas Grin ) so I don't find it any more of a nuisance than regular decorations.
FourTeaFallOut · 28/10/2021 19:22

Reading this:

"Settling down with my coffee and watching those YouTube xmas shopping hauls/gift guides"

And the sense of injustice kicking in that I have no idea what this is.

rrhuth · 28/10/2021 19:25

I think the fact I feel a bit sad that I have finished the Christmas shopping already Grin

goose1964 · 28/10/2021 19:26

Feeling stressed that I haven't made my Christmas cake, I'm trying a new one this year and it needs a special ingredient which I thought I could get in the food delivery but they don't do it here. Then DS1 had a minor hissy fit because I wasn't going to do the usual(Delia's or Creole) then DH asks if I can make the one I did when we were first married, but 30 years later I can't remember where I found it.
I don't even like it.

Meanwhile every time I go somewhere I eye up somethin for Christmas whatever time of year.

Christmas in a day. I watch this loads, along with Andi Peters Festive Foodfest on QVC. I had to stop DH spending £26 on six mince pies last week. They did look nice though!

I buy every Christmas magazine I can find, even though I promise myself I won’t do it next year.

And I’m quite sad I’ve finished my present shopping. I really enjoy it.
