Hello! I love cocktails in the summer but am a bit stumped in the winter, so any ideas welcome please.

Caveats are ...... not creamy ones please!
We do like anything with apple etc and also have a cupboard full of homemade sloe gin, rhubarb vodka, blackberry vodka and damson gin. We also love the festive spices....like cinnamon, nutmeg etc, ans I love ginger wine too!

So any delicious recipes???

My absolute favourite is a Polish martini:

30ml apple juice
30ml vodka (ideally bison grass vodka but any will do)
30ml honey liqueur (krupnik)

Shake over ice and strain. It is absolutely delicious and very Christmassy. Quite strong.

Following. Hoping for an amazing apple martini recipe

shouldistop · 18/10/2021 13:40

Vodka, lemonade, apple juice and fresh lime.

Not exactly a cocktail but it's quite nice

Jemimapuddleduk · 18/10/2021 13:44

Yes I make a mean apple martini!
1 3/4 measures vodka, 3/4 measure apple schnapps, 1 measure cloudy apple juice, 1/2 measure lime juice, 1/2 measure lemon juice, 1/2 measure sugar syrup, pinch cinnamon
Shake and strain to serve

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 18/10/2021 13:59

Maybe too simple but I like cranberry juice and Prosecco - a festive Bucks Fizz.

FireworkParrot · 18/10/2021 14:19

Cranberry and prosecco sounds lovely! I'll definitely have to try that.

Mine is also simple but I love an amaretto sour in winter. Just amaretto, angostura bitters and lemon juice in a short glass with ice.

ODFOgrinch · 18/10/2021 14:49

Winter pimms with apple or ginger. Delicious!
Otherwise anything mulled: wine or cider or even fruit juice: warm through with citrus and spices, a tot of brandy.

BaconAndAvocado · 18/10/2021 14:56

Toffee vodka and apple juice warmed up is divine!

PuggyMum · 18/10/2021 15:32

Bakewell Tart

Add a kirsch socked cherry and a teaspoon of the juice to a flute glass.
Couple of teaspoons of amaretto
Top up with Prosecco.

It's my go to when putting the decorations up!

This also sounds right up my street!

Ponsietta think Nigella has a recipe. Prosecco, Grand Marnier or cointreau and cranberry but I can't remember the ratio. Delicious but lethal if you have more than one Grin

LeNil · 19/10/2021 08:03

Vodka, clementine liqueur, cranberry juice, garnish with frozen clementine slices. Christmas cosmopolitan!

Add some Cointreau to this - absolutely lovely.

Also second Winter Pimms

mumontherun14 · 19/10/2021 10:24

Yum these all sound lovely! I had a recipe last year and got all the stuff but never ended up making it so going to attempt it again this year

The Grinch
Vodka
And/or Rum
Blue curacao
Midori liqueur
Pineapple juice or orange juice
Ginger beer

Its bright green so make up in a big punch bowl and serve over crushed ice with a cherry and red/white stripy straw!

xx

Where do you get apple schnapps from?

Ooohh I have salted caramel vodka I'm going do try this!!
herecomesthsun · 19/10/2021 11:10

We have half a carton of cranberry juice to use up.

Obviously we should make Poinsettias to watch Bake Off with.

Inspired!

mumontherun14 · 19/10/2021 11:11

@StrawberrySanta try Amazon next day delivery!Smile my friend gets loads of flavoured vodkas and harder to get stuff delivered. Xx

AdaColeman · 19/10/2021 11:27

Winter berry cocktail
Similar to Kir, but use a couple of different flavours of fruit gin/vodka for a complex taste, float a couple of frozen blackberries or a few frozen blueberries as a garnish.

You can’t beat a classic champagne cocktail with brandy, angostura soaked sugar cube and champers as a winter apero! 🥂 🥂 🥂 🥂

goose1964 · 19/10/2021 19:09

Brandy and Benedictine in equal measures. I actually look in the booze cupboards to see what I think will go together, I have a reasonably good success rate. Yes I did mean cupboards mainly of stuff we've bought on holidays and are half empty.

This is my go to Christmas morning drink (have also got DM & DMIL into this as well). Suitably squiffy by 11am GrinGrin
AdaColeman · 19/10/2021 19:42

When you get back from those wet woodland, frosty forest or muddy moorland walks, what you need is a Hunter’s cocktail to buck you up! It’s 50/50 whisky and cherry brandy, you can add ice, or for total glamour, maraschino cherries!

Cheers dears!

herecomesthsun · 19/10/2021 21:56

Ratio is 6 Prosecco : 1 Gran Marnier / Cointreau : 4 cranberry juice

It was quite nice, but having finished off the cranberry juice in the fridge, we now have another half bottle of Prosecco to finish off, in its place.

CaptainMerica · 20/10/2021 21:52

I had a cocktail called a winter sour from a bar last year, and tried and failed to recreate it. It was based on an amaretto sour, with red wine on top, and I think gin in there too.

It was lovely, but my attempts have been vile.

Etherealhedgehog · 20/10/2021 21:58

This is my absolute favourite and I think ticks all your boxes... I guess it's not the easiest but if you make a batch of syrup and keep it in the fridge then it's not too much work smittenkitchen.com/2014/12/fairytale-of-new-york/
