Advent calendar for teen….not food or beauty related

DD’s are 15 and 17, both have ASD, neither like make up, perfume etc.., they don’t want a chocolate calendar as their dad will be getting them one. I have bought myself the naked marshmallow calendar so would like to buy them something equally as nice, possibly a fidget toy calendar for dd15 but the reviews don’t look that great 😬. Any other ideas?

Could you make them up yourself? Small "mix up" sized paper bags with numbers on, with various little things dropped in.

Can mix it up - figets, little "movie and pizza tonight" type notes, bath bomb, their favourite soft drinks etc.

Bic do a stationery one. You can get it on Amazon.

CaptainCarp · 16/10/2021 16:48

I think there's a Disney socks 1 or do they like jewellery?

EvilRingahBitch · 16/10/2021 16:50

I know you said no makeup but would nail varnish be ok? (Potentially a good shout for a DIY version too).

Harry Potter Lego?

UnfinishedBunting · 16/10/2021 16:54

Paperchase do a stationery one too, be quick if you want one though (I think they usually sell out). There's a 20% off code around at the moment too.

Ricekrispie22 · 16/10/2021 16:54

Bomb Cosmetics and Over The Moon do nice bath bomb ones.

Ricekrispie22 · 16/10/2021 16:54

Paperchase does an adults stationery calendar but it’s pretty £££

CatOfTheLand · 16/10/2021 16:55

Fidget toys/ squishy things
Hot chocolate or tea
Fossils
Bath bombs
Jam (know that's food but a condiment!)
Or cheese if it was only sweet food you didn't want

I'd probably buy a fillable one and fill it tbh:

Gibsons does at least one jigsaw one; really good quality.

jakesmommy · 16/10/2021 17:06

I'm getting my 14 and 11 year old sons a Funko Pop advent calendar

LiteralVioletz · 16/10/2021 17:07

Money.

Double it every day. Worked a treat for mine. Started off with a £1 each and I ended up in a seasonal Dickension workhouse.

AliceinBorderland · 16/10/2021 17:10

National Gallery do one which has art behind each window. Just a picture mind. Not more stuff that generally isn't looked at again.

Lovemusic33 · 16/10/2021 17:19

Thank you, lots of great ideas, dd2 would love a jigsaw one, she loves gem stones and fossils but I can only find calendars with awful reviews or ones that are £100+ 😬

I had a crystal one from Etsy last year, they do all sorts of types of individual stuff, might be something on there that would suit

ZandraPlackett · 17/10/2021 06:13

Ravensburger have some great ones if you look on Amazon. We got an escape room one and jigsaw based one for my teens

traumatisednoodle · 17/10/2021 06:30

I have a 15yo Dd I looked at this one for her (not ASC, at least not diagnosed)

If you DD likes fossils then this has got great reviews and is less than £20 (although you might want to buy a nice refillable advent calendar to put the fossils in):

There are also some nice semi-precious stones you could add for about £2.50 each:

2lostsouls · 17/10/2021 09:05

Fossils/stones - try Jurassic Jim on Facebook, for making your own or buying an advent set. Haven’t used him myself but read loads of great reviews.

Sorry not thread jacking but these look good on Amazon, however I can only see ones that are in German - are they easy enough to do/follow or are there English versions if I dig about on Amazon enough?
TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 17/10/2021 11:21

Bird and blend do a tea one.

Doubleraspberry · 17/10/2021 11:41

There are definitely Escape Room advents in English available.

I ordered 24 crystals to make my own gemstone/crystal one for dd. Bought a break your own geode for 24!

We have bought DD2 the Funko Pop Five Nights at Freddies calendar. It was expensive but she has quite a few of the Pops already.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/10/2021 12:07

Always used to make them, taking account of personal interests.
