Board/card game for teens for 3 or less players

Hi
We love playing games in our family. There are 3 of us, me, DH and DD14. We usually get a new game for Christmas but it's proving tricky to find something we don't have for this year.....
We like cooperative games like Forbidden Island, card games like uno band exploding kittens and things like Trivial Pursuits and 221b Baker Street.
Just be for 3 or less players...
Any ideas please????

You can get home escape room games.

Ticket to ride? Nordic Countries is a nice one for Christmas and also because it is designed as a 3 player game it gets competitive. Ones like Europe work less well as 3 player because the board is big with lots of routes so with fewer players you can pretty much always do your trips which makes it less interesting.

Maponimoes? Ligretto? Ingenuity? Code names?

Frenchfancy · 08/10/2021 18:02

I really like Azul. It works well with 3.

Jigsawprison · 08/10/2021 18:11

Sussed card game. Bought for mine last Christmas - causes lots of discussions on life too.

Labyrinth is good for all ages. Deceptively simple but if it's about the craic it's great, you get to mess up your opponents intentions and it's enough of a puzzle for it to be a challenge when you're tipsy at Xmas. 😁

We play Catan with three. I’d also recommend Unstable Unicorns, Pick Your Poinson and Sequence

Some great ideas for me to look into, thanks!

We really liked the dog game (£4.50 in the entertainer i bought to get free postage!). And the cat game, depending on ages as that is 16+ due to the nature of some cards (we just removed the unsuitable ones)

Payday we love and play alot, usually just the 3 of us.

Similar to exploding kittens we liked no more llamas.

Dobble is one of our favourites.

I'm buying a book of card games and a new set of cards. And have a classic games compendium for my youngest daughter.

Also classics like scrabble, game of life, cluedo (we have harry potter edition which is a nice twist).

Castle Panic and Pandemic are excellent co-operative games. The Legacy version of Pandemic is even more fun.

We also like Isle of Skye

Zazazaz · 08/10/2021 19:59

Terraforming Mars.

It's brilliant. Complex, clever, funny, every game is different.

Thanks for starting this, some great ideas to look at.

Another throw throw burrito vote.

Cacka lackan poker (cockroach poker) - not actually sure how that's spelt. Smile

Quixx, Carcassonne, sushi go, code name, monopoly deal. There used to be a website where you could put in how many players and game type and it would suggest things. Board games geek??

parrotonmyshoulder · 08/10/2021 20:40

Port Royal
Mapominoes
Catan
Seven Bridges
Any of the Fluxx series, whatever topic appeals

Stompythedinosaur · 08/10/2021 21:10

The nordic countries ticket to ride is good with three people. Codenames also works well with three (though it is different to playing with 4+ people).

There are some brilliant two player games around - Hive, Tatsu, Shobu, Fox in the Forest Duet and Duke are our favourites.

Ostagazuzulum · 08/10/2021 21:12

Second labyrinth! It's great

Racingadmin · 08/10/2021 21:12

Monopoly deal

imnotalpharius · 08/10/2021 21:12

Evil baby orphanage is a fun card game as is bears Vs babies (by exploding kittens people).

mamaduckbone · 08/10/2021 21:14

Unstable unicorns or sushi go are favourites in this house (although we played so many games in lockdown that we haven't for ages)

Bopahula · 09/10/2021 09:04

Azul is a lovely looking game as well as being fab for two/three.
Splendor is great.
Ticket to ride
Catan

TrickyD · 09/10/2021 09:05

Rummikub. Fine for three.
