I do have one myself (quite easy to buy for) but am still stuck for presents for various in our family. Any ideas please?

Not makeup, and mot stationery - unless there’s something whizzy that’s new, because they’ve all been getting stationery for years!

Interested in these answers. I have a DD13 who is uninterested in clothes, make-up, jewellery etc.

Things that have gone done well in the past - LED strip lights, lava lamp, new duvet cover, fluffy socks.

Thanks everyone - lots of ideas for me to look at! I’ll do some googling.

In some ways I’d prefer to give money but since it will be my DD actually “giving” the gifts I think it would feel awkward for her. But then she doesn’t have many concrete ideas other than “something pink” or “definitely nothing pink” Hmm

Those that buy fluffy socks, where do you get them from? I’ve looked in my usual places (John Lewis, Joules and M and S) and there are hardly any this year. The Joules stripy ones they used to do were always really popular

DD is 14 and things which go well are

Oodie
anything fluffy, so pillow, blanket, socks, warm slippers, jumpers
bluetooth speaker
perfume
jewellery
books
travel mug for hot chocolate. She takes one to school in winter to drink at break time
phone purse

alrightfella · 06/10/2021 08:10

I think this is a difficult age for generic present buying as they all tend to develop their individuality around this time.

Are they on social media? can you look at who/what they follow and get ideas from there?

blametheparents · 06/10/2021 08:10

For socks - Fat Face often have nice ones

Also, some of the Percy Pig merchandise that they have in M&S at the moment is quite fun.

This is a great idea!

Although I think M and S may be missing a trick not doing similar with Colin the Caterpillar, beloved as he is by most teenagers…

My dd loves a duvet set with matching cushions and/or fleece blanket. Asda duvet sets are around £10 and perfectly acceptable quality, cushions and blankets about £6 each. She’s also got the Percy Pig set with matching pyjamas although that’s more expensive.

Other suggestions

Florence by Mills skincare (1/3 off in Boots at the mo)

Phone cases

Oodie/Primark imitation

Amazon have a lovely fluffy sock set with feet that are like cat paws here

BearSoFair · 06/10/2021 14:06

I second the bubble tea kit suggestion, we got one for DD last year that was a hit and it still seems to be the trend amongst her friends! Ramen and Japanese and Korean snacks also seem popular.

SuperStarRose · 06/10/2021 14:11

DD 14 has sent me list of clothes she wants so I'll trawl through that and pick various items nearer the time as she'll probably change her mind in a months time.

In the past led lights, Oodie and various items mentioned above have been a hit. She has enough eye shadow pallets to last a life time.

Cas112 · 06/10/2021 14:30

Pandora Jewellery

Cas112 · 06/10/2021 14:31

@Cas112

Pandora Jewellery
for the 15 year old I would say anyway
chickensandbees · 06/10/2021 14:48

Great thread! Nothing to add, but thank for the suggestions.

Newchallenge · 06/10/2021 14:50

My 12yo loves a gift voucher...
