Here we go people!

I thought we could start reading the Introduction from October 15th at a gentle pace to allow people to join the thread. Then all set for Chapter 1 on November 1st.

The Christmas Chronicles is currently just over £20 on Amazon. Maybe people could share all the options for those who are just joining us, who still want to get a copy.

I'm hoping this thread will be a lovely, gentle, uplifting transition into the Christmas period where we can share our thoughts, recipe attempts and inspiration from Nigel x

Bought my bargain copy from WHSmiths and then got a student discount £4.80 in the end- super chuffed and can’t wait to read with you all!

@FiloFaxx maybe! The cashier looked at the £9 sticker on the book and said she was surprised it scanned as £6 but didn't change it so I paid £6. Whoop!

Ooh please can I join in? I bought this a couple of years ago but thanks to 2 house moves in the interim I've never had a chance to actually go through it properly. I'll have to dig it out of the garage from
amongst the multiple boxes of books (awaiting yet another house move) but it'll be worth it I hope! As someone unthread also mentioned, I do tend to find NS a bit pretentious but hopefully the lure of all things festive will override such unseasonal sentiments...

I can’t tell you all how excited I am about this read a long.

Tonight my husband has agreed with me that he is a fun sponge 😔 and so I am in real need of positivity at the moment.

Admittedly he has been sick for nearly 2 years with no diagnosis yet but his negativity doesn’t help me so I’m relying on this thread.

I’m sneakily reading already, it’s just making me feel so cosy. I’m not reading full chapters, just dipping into recipes for planning purposes 😂

I’ve been up to the big room and ceremoniously retrieved The Book from my Christmas storage. It’s now resting happily on the living room sideboard waiting for this evening where I shall read the introduction whilst having a small glass of cognac (it’ll have to be a very small glass indeed as we’re almost out and we’re not getting another until November!😁). Let the hygge commence!

I've been avoiding you lot for weeks as I e been trying to not get too squeaky, but Nigel is now by my bed and ready to go. Kitchen Diaries 1&2 are also there as I do like following him in mad stalker woman way through the year. Dp will start chuntering soon as Delia and Nigella also find their way next to the bed and mysterious parcels of cooking ingredients, posh wrapping paper and tins of quality street start arriving.

Not long now. Can’t wait to get started!

I've also got me a Beautiful Notebook and Pen (Nigel would approve) to make my Christmas 2021 notes in as we go. It will be a combination of things from this thread, the Poncetastic and the Bargains!
I think I might crack open a Christmas candle for the readalong. Not, sadly, a Cire Trudon (Nige spoiler alert ) but a Christmas one nevertheless.

Delighted to find this thread and have hoked my copy out. I honestly don't remember ever having read this, which is really odd but I wonder if DH bought it the Christmas after my Mum died. Its the only thing which makes sense. Anyway looking forward to a read along. My copy doesn't have the pic of Nige on the front

Sadly I can’t justify a new notebook. Mostly because I just bought one last month (in a lovely two tone olive green, with a faux suede panel. Tres chic!🥰 ), which to be fair will do very nicely for this read-along! I also have my Poncetastic Christmas planner at the ready! But...I could possibly justify a beautiful new writing implement...

I have a lovely green and gold initialled one I got free from paperchase (whilst buying copious amounts of other stationery goodies!) I may dig it out for this and it also gives me an excuse to use my lovely enamelled cross fountain pen 😍

I bought a copy a few weeks back after reading about it on MN.
Why do I need to get it out on 01 Nov? Is it to follow the run up to Christmas?

We’re starting the read-along proper on the 1st of No. as that’s when the book starts. 😊🎄The intro reading starts tomorrow.
